A Broken Chain
Perfect Angel? No.
STEVIE
As a mom, I need to work. And I do. I'm an assistant journalist for the People magazine. I'm only 20, so I can't be an official one yet. But I'm close. I sat in my office when Veronica came in. She was my boss, pretty much.
"Hello, Stevie." She greeted sitting down. I smiled. "Stevie. I have a job for you."
"Yes?"
"Do you know... Sophia Butera? The singer?"
I stuttered, "Y-yeah. What about her?"
"I want you to get some news about her. You know, something... juicy. Something people will want to read." She smirked.
"What? I mean what kind of news?"
"Something that will get rid if her sweet, reputation. No one is a perfect angel, you know." She walked out of my office, leaving two tickets to Hollywood on my desk.
When I got home, Harry and Johanna were on the couch lying down. Ethan was next to them.
"Hay Stevie. How was work?" Jo asked when I came in. setting my bag on the counter.
"It was fine. Just dandy..." I trailed off, thinking about what Veronica said. No one is a perfect angel. you know. It repeated in my head. The thing is, no one is a perfect angel. But Sophia was. Almost. And I knew everything there is to know about Sophia. She was my best friend. And I knew, getting a story on her would get mt to be an official journalist. And that's what I wanted. But I can't be selfish and do that to Sophia. That's wrong.
"Stevie? You still alive?" Johanna waved her hand in front of my face. I blinked and stared at her. "Here's your kid." She said handing me Ethan. I took him, and walked upstairs.
