Change my mind

Change my mind, chapter 1: One Direction is at my door

Sabah’s POV

Hey.

Nice to say hi to you.

Sorry, I just don’t speak that much. I’m Sabah, by the way. So, you REALLY want to know what’s going to happen in my life now? Cause I have a weird feeling about it. Anyway, moving on, and beginning with the day...

I woke up after I came back home from Oxford University. Sitting up from my bed, I stood up and went to the bathroom, opening the door and closing it behind me. I stepped into the bathroom, feeling the chill of the marble floor beneath my feet. I then brushed my teeth and washed my face, looking at myself in the mirror. I still looked normal, no bags or anything like that. Yay schedules! My black hair was still wavy and my pale white skin still had it’s freckles on it, and I still had the athletic body shape. At least I was a good student in school. I then took the short transition back to my room, changing into simple jeans and a black t-shirt. Yeah, I liked jeans and t-shirt, nothing else but a pair of earrings from Armenia, and columbia sneakers. But anyway.

I put on my white socks. I planned to go out to help a charity organization today. I mostly loved helping charities, especially human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International and Reporters without borders, along with Human Rights Watch. And also, every organization has their flaws. I don’t even know why people sometimes always look at the bad side. I mainly supported human rights organizations, but I also supported other organizations fighting against poverty, like Comic Relief. Just for a few hours, about- Wait, so it’s 8:30... Maybe at 10:30 I’ll head off, then I’ll come back here at 16:30. Speaking of comic relief, I also forgot to tell you guys...

I’m childhood friends with Liam Payne from One Direction.

Yeah, I’m childhood friends with him. And today, I’m going to meet him once again. It’s been 3 years ever since I saw him, and I miss him dearly. I remember I texted him, telling him that I was a Directioner, and then he said that one day, he would visit me and my family once again with his band members. I didn’t have time to go to the concerts. Thanks a lot, university! But I love university, sorry. Anyways. I could recall when we were little, I would go over to his house and we would play around with his toys. Heck, we even played with his buzz light year toys, and yep, I didn’t care what the other girls thought of me. Even though I was kind of girly, let’s just say when it came to the other girls in school, I was different. I went to a different school than Liam. He went to the City of Wolverhampton college, me? I was different.

In my school, there was no such thing as popular. Everyone was equal, though some girls were the stereotypical popular girls. No football dudes or anything like that in my school. I was considered the shy girl in my school. Commonly, I was digging my face into an Oxford University press book on international law or family law. Anyways.

I got downstairs and saw my brother sitting at the table all the way in the kitchen, his brown hair in a mess and eyes dark blue eyes staring dully at his breakfast. He was 13, but he was like a 8 year old. I smiled and got downstairs, walking into the kitchen and sitting down next to him, then ruffling his hair. He then got filled with life. Whenever I’m not home, he’s bored out of his head and dull, but when I’m home, he’s filled with life, cause 1) He’s got me to entertain him, and 2) He FINALLY has someone to annoy the hell out of. “Hey sis!”

“Nic, how are you doing? I’m going out once again. After all, you know, charities and all.” And Nicholas rolled his eyes. He KNOWS my obsession with helping other people out. Also, he read Divergent, so he said I’d probably be a citizen of Abnegation. But then he said I’d probably be a divergent, seeing as most people called me that unique stuff. But trust me, I’m not perfect. I don’t even know how to ride a bicycle?! And also, there are these bunch of prissy girls who hate my butt. Probably because I beat up one of them, and didn’t get in trouble. They’re still trying to find me. Gee, holding grudges IS bad after all.

“I’m doing well. Mum’s cooking scrambled eggs and sausages. Along with that, were also having baked beans.” And I smiled at my younger brother, a smirk beginning to me painted on my face. “And no, don’t mention that Louis Tomlinson fact! It’s branded into my brain thanks to you!” And I laughed. Of course, every time we had baked beans, I would yell that Louis of One Direction HATED baked beans. Yay being a HUGE Directioner! Luckily, my iPhone was with me. I felt it vibrate and checked it. I got a text from Liam. Quickly unlocking my phone, my brother looked at me quizzically. It said:

Hey Sab! I’m going to arrive soon with the boys here, so see you in 30 minutes!

And I almost flipped out. 30 FLIPPING MINUTES?! YOU’RE FLIPPING KIDDING ME! Calm down, Li! Calm yourself down! Then after a few minutes, my mother arrived at the table, a smile on her face. She set down the food for all 3 of us, including a cup of orange juice for my brother, a cup of green tea for me and some coffee for her. “Sabah, I’m so glad you’re back.” And she sat down. Her brown hair was neatly in a ponytail, and her dark blue eyes were filled with wisdom. She had pale skin and she was beginning to look frail, fragile and old. I then quickly scoffed down my breakfast. “Sabah, slow down. We don’t need to rush.”

“But mum!” I whined. “Liam’s going to be here soon!”

“Liam? Oh my. Then quickly finish your breakfast dear. Wash up once again. Me and Nicholas will help out with cleaning up. I’ll make sure the living room is clean and-”

“Mum! I’ll just be talking with Liam and all! Along with his bandmates. I can handle this myself. Nicholas, just do whatever you want. Mother, you can wash up. I’ll handle this myself.” And I cleaned up after scoffing my dinner down, washing the plates and then quickly cleaning up. I then went to the living room and sat down, waiting for the boys and looking at the clock. The long hand moved every minute, pointing accusingly at a certain digit. Then...

Ding Dong!

Okay, Sabah, calm down. It’s not like you’ll be killed or some shi-

Okay. Bad news.

One Direction is at my door.
