Shattered Walls
Go Karts?
Wow.
As big as it looked on the outside, the interior of the house was bigger. The first floor had a sleek spiral staircase, leading to the second floor. The living room was off to the left, with glass China spread artfully around the room. The kitchen looked like something straight out of a magazine (It probably was), with State-of-the-Art ovens and a beautiful marble countertop. The biggest was easily the dining room. The smooth wooden table was cluttered with papers and pencils. There was a glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling in each room.
"Wow. This place is amazing. It's gorgeous."
My couldn't help marveling at how the simplicity of the place made it that more beautiful.
"Yeah, well. It wasn't me, it was my stupid parents." Zayn mumbled.
I wondered how parents who were able to design this kind of house could be stupid, but I didn't say anything.
"Let's go to my room. It's on the third floor."
We climbed up together, with me at least five steps behind him. When we reached his room, I was huffing and puffing, but he didn't even seem phased. He did have to do this every day, after all.
I took a seat in his desk chair, while he plopped down on an all black beanbag chair.
"So," I said, taking out the project directions Mrs. Williams had given us, "for this project, we're supposed to... build a Miniature Go Kart? That doesn't really sound like Mrs. Williams." I frowned.
Zayn looked bored.
"Let's just get this thing over with. What do we need?" He asked.
"We need a big block of wood, super glue, AA battery's, something to get it-"
"I already have all of that." He interrupted.
"But I didn't even finish reading the-"
"Trust me, I have it." He interrupted again.
i rolled my eyes. He was exactly what I had expected.
"I'll go grab the stuff, and then you can finish the rest of the project."
Um. No. That was the last straw. I got up, and walked over to him slowly. My head only came up to his nose, but I didn't care.
"Listen up. I understand you don't give a flying shit if this project gets done, but I do. I'm hoping to go to a good college, get away from this whole," I waved my hands in the direction of his window, "mess of a town. So we are going to do this project together, whether you like it or not."
He raised his hands in surrender.
"Jesus. Chill out, woman."
"Let's just work on this tomorrow. Bye." I snapped.
I ran all the way down the stairs and out the door. I knew I would have to walk home, but I didn't care. Anything to get away.
