They Might Be Mental

Samantha’s POV:
I walked into the brick building with a coffee in my hands, ready to start this normal day. Who was I kidding? There was never a normal day. That’s one of the reasons I like this job. Never gets boring. I walked to the nurse’s station and saw Kelsei doing paper work.

“You’re here early” I said as I set my stuff down. I took off my coat and sat down at my desk. Kelsei rolled her eyes and I smiled.

“Any new one’s today?” I asked and looked at the charts.

“Yeah, Niall Horan and Harry Styles…” she said and handed me their reports. I read Niall’s first.

Niall James Horan,

Never married, No record of mental illness. Four women burned and raped, Niall was found on the scene. Claims not guilty. Age 23.

“Well this should be interesting” I said and Kelsei nodded.
“Tell me about it…read Harry’s” She said and I flipped the chart over.

Harry Edward Styles,

Married, no record of mental illness, accused of killing his wife with an axe. Age (21)

“What time are they coming in?” I asked.

“About another hour” Kelsei said. Just then a guy started banging on his door. I jumped at the sudden noise and looked to see the guy looking out his door window. All the doors had to be locked at all times, unless nurses or investigators/lawyers were in the room.

“Where’s Liam?” I asked.

“I haven’t seen him, try paging him” She said and I looked at the phone and picked it up. I typed in his pager number. 1016.

“Hello?”

“Liam I need you to come here please” I said.

“Oh good morning to you too Samantha” He said and I laughed.

“Just get up here” I said and hung up the phone. I looked at the guy who was banging on the door and he kept staring at us. It was really creepy. Liam arrived shortly after and walked over to us.

“What’s up loves?” He asked.

“Can you not hear the banging?” Kelsei asked. Liam smiled and walked over to his door. He pushed the button outside their door that lets us communicate with the patients.

“What do you want” Liam asked.

“Get me out of here” He said and kept knocking. He then started yelling.

“Sam, is it time for his meds?” Liam asked. I looked at the clock and nodded.

“Yeah let me go get them.” I said and went into the medicine room. I got the three blue pills and put them in a small cup. I grabbed a cup of water and headed out to Liam.

“Ready?” He asked.

“Yes sir” I said and smiled. I stepped away from the door and Liam walked in the room. The guy tried to run out but Liam put the guy in a lock and walked over to the guy’s room. He was freaking out. Yelling and mumbling like crazy.

“You son of a bitch, let me go!” He yelled and I peeked into the room, staying my distance.

“Sir Calm down” Liam said and tried to get the guy to sit in his chair.

“No you asshole let me leave!” The man yelled. I looked at Kelsei and she was on the phone.

“Sir if you relax we will let you leave, you just need to take this candy first” Liam said. Candy, that’s what we had to call the meds for some patients.

“Fine you bastard” The guy yelled and sat down.

“You can come in Sam” Liam said and I walked in.

“Hello” I said and set the water down.

“You got the candy?” He asked.

“Yes sir, just don’t bite it. It will taste nasty. Just swallow okay?” I asked.

“Whatever” He said and Liam stepped away so I could hand him the pills.

“Alright here is the first one” I handed him the first one. He put it in his mouth and swallowed.
“The second” I handed him the pill.

“Alright the last one” I said and he took it from me and I handed him water.

“Now drink some water” I said and he gulped it down before throwing his cup at me at me and biting my hand.

“Son of a bitch” I whispered in pain and pulled my hand away before he was swinging his arms around like crazy. He punched my arm as Liam was stepping in the way trying to calm him down.

“Sam, get out before you get hurt” He said and I took the trash and left. I walked out of the room and heard a bunch of yelling. Kelsei looked at me and ran over to me.

“What happened?” She asked.

“What?” I asked and threw the trash away.

“You’re bleeding” She said and I looked at me hand. I didn’t even realize it.

“That bastard bit threw the glove!” I said shocked.

“Here I’ll clean it up” Kelsei said and we walked over to the sink.

“You’ll have to ask Dr. Ryan for some cream to put on this when he gets in” Kelsei said and put alcohol on it.

“Shit” I cursed and she rinsed it off, it was still bleeding like crazy though.

“That bastard really fucked you up” Kelsei examined my hand. She put a cotton pad on it before wrapping it in some gauze.

“Thanks boo” I hugged her and heard a door slam shut. We both jumped and looked at Liam coming out of the room. He locked the door and looked at us smiling. He was calm, acted as if nothing happened.

“Why are you smiling? You’re so damn happy all the time” Kelsei said and he giggled.

“Aww its ok Liam, it’s cute” I said and he smiled again.

“I know” He said and we all laughed.

“Are you ok?” He asked looking at my hand.

“Yeah Kelsei fixed it up” I said and he nodded.

“Did he punch you?” He asked.

“Yeah but you got most of it…are you okay?” I asked.

“Oh please I never get hurt” He puffed out his chest and Kelsei and I laughed.

“He’s like the Hulk” Kelsei agreed and I shook my head.

“Help me give the rest of the patients their pills?” I asked Liam and he nodded.

“Sure” He said and I grabbed the pills. We went around room to room, giving the patients that needed medicine their pills. Once we were done we all sat around and waited for the new patients. At exactly 8:00 Harry Styles walked in. The security guards walked him to his room.
