Through The Dark

Sophia's POV

We all sat in the living room.

Harry and Eric and Niall on the stools, Luce and Michael on the couch while Ashton and I sat on the love seat

No one was acting awkward even after Ashton and I kissed.

"I just realized, that even though there are two pairs of people in this room who are sitting with their uh partner, that it feels normal." Niall pointed out.

We blushed. I pulled out my phone to avoid the awkwardness they just started.

Eric laughed. "Well they were practically dating before."

"Snogging while they thought no one was looking. Or in plain sight." Harry pointed out, laughing.

"Making sweet sweet love." Eric said. He and Niall made kiddy faces.

Ashton drummed his fingers in his knees.
"Knock it off, will you?"

I covered my face with the pillow.

"You guys are nasty. We haven't even fallen asleep next to each other yet you idiot." Michael said, throwing a pillow at Harry's face.

"But you all have face battled." Harry chuckled.

"Oh sweet Jesus." I muttered.

Everyone laughed.
"You guys are so fun to mess with." Eric said.

"Anyways, I reserved dinner at this restaurant. At eight people! It's now four PM because someone," Niall pointed at me. "Had a little fit. Now, that gives you three hours to get ready. It's a special occasion. So dress fancy."

"What's the occasion?" Luce piped up. Her small hand was laced with Michael's hand. Those two were polar opposites, but they were so perfect together. I needed to get the scoop from Luce later.

" It's our last night in America. Remember?" Harry said.

I had forgetten!

"What?!" Luce yelled. She stood up, letting go of Mikey's hand. "You didn't tell me this was your last day!"

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to let things-" Michael began, but Luce walked out to the balcony. She slammed the door.

"I'll go talk with her. " I said.

"Okay." They said.

I joined her on the balcony overlooking Malibu and Santa Monica.

"You knew, didn't you?" Luce said.

I stayed silent.

"If I would have known..." Luce muttered

"What would you have done, Luce?" I asked.

Luce sighed. She threw her hands up.
"I don't know. Gone on a date? Kissed? Sleep together?"

"Oh. Right. Listen, it's our last night here. We won't be around for a while. Either you tear apart what you might have, or suck it up these next months. Your choice, Lu." I reminded her.

She leaned on the railing.
"Look at me! A month ago, I was just another girl obsessing over him and setting his pictures as lock screens, buying stupid t shirts with his sayings or lyrics, dreaming that one day I'd be able to meet him. Now, I have the chance to see if we you know... The L word." She whispered.

"You can say it. L.O.V.E." I joked.

"How can I do it?" Luce whispered.

"Uh. Skype. Kik. Phone calls. Text. Email. Snapchat...." I joked.

She glared at me.

"I say go for it. I mean I should probably take my own advice, but go for it!" I smiled.

"Thanks. I will. I need to look hot if this is our last night together. If you know what I mean." She wiggled her eyebrows.

I smacked her arm. "I'll let it slide. I'll be right there to help you."

"Okay!" Luce said, leaving me alone on the balcony

I was left alone with my own thoughts.

I think I really liked Ashton. Yet, I was so afraid to go out there. Would the world see me as a slut for being Harry's ex for only a month before I went out with someone else? Everyone and their mom now knew me from pictures and videos and tweets from the boys or something.

"They say thoughts are constellations formed together by memories that are the stars of your sky, the brain." Someone said.

I turned around.
"Who said that? Is that Plato? Or Emily Dickenson."

Ashton grinned.
"A book I read."

I rolled my eyes.

"I want to talk." He said.

I sat on the floor and patted it for him to sit beside me.

Ashton sat cross legged in front of me.

"I like you. A lot." He said.!

"I know. You said that an hour ago." I joked

He looked at me, a stern look.
"I'm serious, Soph. I know you've been struggling with this new life. I do. And it isn't easy mixing a relationship into that new batter. Don't raise your eyebrow at me! I'm just trying to get to a point here. You see, I'm a piece of chocolate. Add it to the batter and you see how much better it gets. I want to be the one who tickles you at night. The one who steals a bite from your plate. The one who knows you better than themselves. I want to... I want to give it a try. Us. You and me, Sophia." His hair ruffled in the breeze, held back by his red bandana. He smelled like mint.

I reached forward and placed my small hand in his.
"I couldn't ask for anything better. I'm willing to make this work. I want to be the one who makes you smile and brights up your day."

Ashton smiled. He leaned in and placed his mouth near my cheek. "You do that everyday for me." H Elise's me on the cheek.

"Now let's get ready." He smiled, helping me up.
