By Chance of Fate

So it's my eighteenth birthday, which means I can do anything I want (well almost anything, since I haven't moved out of my parent's house yet). And my mother has told me since the tender age of fifteen that if I wanted to go to a One Direction concert, then I would have to save the money myself. By the time I was sixteen-and-one-half, I had all of the funding I needed to go, but my parents still denied me! But now that I was officially an adult, this was the one thing my mom and dad could not tell me no on. I was packing my suitcase and listening to the Up All Night album when suddenly,
"Heather! Come down here please!" Oh great, my mother. As I walked down the stairs, I mentally prepared myself for the nagging ahead. My mother was sitting straight up at the dining room table.
"Heather, honey, sit down." Ok, this was getting weird.
"I have a surprise for you, but first I want you to call Madison." Madison, my best friend and fellow Directioner.
*Ring ring*
"Hello?"
"Hey Maddie!"
"Oh, hey! What's up?"
"I don't know exactly, my mom said she had a surprise for me and told me to call you first."
"Oh, yeah, that. Put me on speaker so we can tell you together."
"Tell me what togeth-"
"Just put me on speaker butt-face!" I pressed speaker on my phone and laid it on the table.
"You ready, Madison?" Said my mom.
"Oh yeah! I can't wait to hear her reaction!."
"Would you guys just tell me already!?!"
"Ok, I think we've made her wait long enough. Say it together in three... two... one!"
"Madison is going to the One Direction concert with you!" they said in unison.
My. Jaw. Dropped.
"Really?!? You're not kidding?"
"Nope! Haha we're not that mean!" My mother said. I started to scream and cry! This wasn't just my best friend, this was my long lost sister! This was the only girl who would let me play with her our first day of third grade because I was the new kid and everybody else already had a best friend. This was the one girl that I talked about One Direction with because everyone else just ignored me.
"Oh my gosh!! I'm so excited! Are we going to travel together?" I asked.
"Yep, I will come by in the Volkswagen tomorrow and we will go to the airport."
"I'm ecstatic right now! I cannot wait to see you!"
"Me either! So I will see you tomorrow?"
"Totally! I'm so glad we're best friends Mads!"
"Me too! I gotta go, love you!"
"Love you too, bye!" I shut off the phone.
"So, when are you girls leaving in the morning?" said my mom.
"Probably about 7:30. I wanted to get to Arizona early so maybe I could see the boys. How did Maddie know which plane ticket and stadium ticket to get?" I asked.
"We told her all of the details when you got your tickets. That's what all of the knit-picking about your trip has been about. Getting the info to Madison." my mother said.
"Oh my gosh, I love you so much, you are the best mom ever!" I embraced my parent in probably the biggest hug I'd given her in a while.
"I'm gonna go finish packing." I said as I went back up stairs.

As I crawled into bed, I couldn't help but constantly grin and giggle. I was going to a concert with my best friend. And not just any concert, a One Direction concert. A concert of the five boys I had obsessed over for about three years. The boys I thought I would never even see in person. The boys that helped through so many things in the past just by doing their jobs. Tomorrow was going to be great, but I had to go to sleep. I closed my eyes and rolled over with a smile on my face and images of One Direction dancing in my head.
