Sleepover!
The next day, when I woke up, I was expecting the smell of breakfast cooking. After all this time, I still hadn’t gotten used to the fact that Harry wouldn’t be cooking breakfast downstairs each morning.
But this morning, I heard chatter downstairs. I listened closely—it was Ava and Liam. I sat on the edge of my bed and took some time to think. I thought about Genevieve, about Ava, and about Harry. Oh, Harry.
My eyes started to water, and soon tears started coming down. They came down faster and faster, harder and harder. Not long after that, I was full-out sobbing. I still miss Harry. I want him to come back. I miss his voice, his scent, his hair, I miss his cooking, and I miss everything about him. Even the things I had found annoying about him.
I heard a knock on the door, which was already open. “Can I come in?” the now-familiar voice of Ava said. I nodded and she sat next to me. She patted my back.
“Why did Harry have to be taken away from me?” I asked, still sobbing.
She simply shook her head. “Everything happens for a reason, Louis. But for now, you’ll have to find that reason. I know it may seem like the end of the world now, but in the future, you will look back at this moment. You will think about how your life has developed from now to then.”
I stared at her. What reason could be good enough to take Harry away? If Harry had to die for a reason, then that reason better be a good one. “I can help you find that reason.” She said, and looked into my eyes.
“Please… do.” I said in response. I held her hand and squeezed it. I really needed her help. Ava was the reason that I wasn’t going mentally insane. She squeezed back, and in that moment I knew I could trust her. As in, really trust her.
*** During the next few days, Ava had made a big impact on my life. She helped me through my ups and downs. She was always there for me, and she defended me. She had really stayed true to her promise—that we would work through this together.
One afternoon, the doorbell rang. It was about 5:00 pm on a Friday night, and I had been planning to stay home and just watch movies with the boys. I answered the door, and there was Ava, in a beautiful blue dress that complimented her stunning eyes.
“Why are you dressed up so nice?” I asked her.
She looked down at herself, “Oh, sorry. I just came from a very formal party. Let me tell you, it was boring.” I laughed. She looked beautiful. I let her come in.
“Vas Happenin?” Zayn asked when she came into the living room.
“Nothing much. Well anyway, my house is getting redone, so I was wondering if I could crash here.” She said.
“Yeah, that’d be fine. I can sleep on the floor in my room, and you could sleep on my bed.” I offered. We had no extra bedroom, and none of the other boys looked very open to sharing their room, so I guess that was the only option.
“Thanks! I hope I’m not causing any trouble.” She said.
“No! None at all.” I said and smiled. She smiled back. I still hadn’t gotten used to her dazzling smile. I was so… perfect.
I lent a t-shirt and some sweat pants to use as pajamas to her. When she wore them, they were way too big, but she looked adorable in them.
The boys, Ava, and I watched movies in the living room. After a couple movies, we went to my bedroom to get ready for bed. Zayn and Niall stayed downstairs, and I’m not sure how long they stayed down there. Liam also went to his room.
Once in my room, I set up a mattress on the floor. I got some blankets and put them on the mattress. I didn’t want to be rude and make Ava sleep on the floor, so I let her sleep on my bed. I took the mattress on the floor.
Before dozing off, I realized something. Ava had helped me so much. She had made such a big impact on my life. She was also very kind and beautiful. In fact, she was stunning.
I had realized that I was in love. With Ava.
