Blush
Leeds
I banged my hand on the wheel, flinging my hair everywhere as I sang long with the radio.
"When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said, "Son when you grow up,
would you be the saviour of the broken,
the beaten and the damned?"
He said "Will you defeat them,
your demons, and all the non-believers,
the plans that they have made?"
"Because one day I'll leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join The Black Parade."" I gripped the wheel as I turned off the road, stopping my mini-car-concert.
"Well, Kels, here we are. Morning has struck, and we are here." I looked out the window at the cityscape around me. I pulled to the side of the road and dialed a number on my phone.
"Hello?" The familiar voice answered.
"Hey bruh, where are you?" I asked.
"Ummmm. Who?"
"Kelsey. Come on, your sister?"
"KELSEY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN YOU HAVEN'T CALLED OR PICKED UP IN OVER EIGHT MONTHS?!" he screamed, shushing people on his side of the phone.
"Where have I been? Here and there, anywhere really." I leaned back in my seat.
"Ok, where are you now?" He calmed a bit.
"I don't know. I think the real question is, where were you two years ago when mum kicked me out?" I heard him sigh. I've become accustomed to that output of air from the lungs over my life time. Seems when nothing goes right, its the only thing people can do.
"I told you multiple times, I'm sorry, and you can come live with e and the lads."
"Eh, no thanks. I've been busy."
"To busy to have Christmas with the family?"
"Ok, two things, one: What family? they hate me." I huffed. "Two: Really? Really! This is coming from the guy who missed his sisters sixteenth birthday, his sisters graduation, and his sisters life for two years? His little baby sis's life?"
"Are you going to blame this on me?"
"You bet I am. I can't just forget how you weren't there when I needed you." I heard him hit someone in the background.
"Go away mate! Is personal!" He shouted.
"Awww come on, is it Perrie again?" A guy yelled.
"Who's Perrie?"
"My girl." he answered flatly. "Have you been able to provide for yourself, do I need to transfer funds? Do you have a place to stay?" Geez, still caring after I chewed him out.
"Zayn, I'm in Leeds, I have a sum of money, and I have nowhere to go. I've been living out of my car for the last year, that's why I've never come to see you." I whispered.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because.. It's embarrassing. The super-stars little sis can't hold her own, living in her car, crying about her ruined life. How does that sound?" I wiped away tears. "I went to a club last night, and you know what's sad? Alcohol doesn't even affect me any more." I laughed bitterly.
"Sis, Come to my place as soon as you can. I want to help you, maybe you can forgive me for going off to X-Factor. He sounded hurt. "Please say yes."
"Only for a night." I pulled back on the road. "Only cause you are after all my brother." I heard him shout again.
"Hey lads! My sis's coming over! Clean up a bit, and make up that spare bed!" I felt more tears coming. "Alright Kelsey. I want you here tonight, I'll say up for you if you're not here by ten, but you should be so-"
"I love you too, Zayn." He chuckled from the other side. I hung up, not wanting to keep talking. For my tough act, I sure am pathetic.
