Chapter 5- Even Better
ALEXANDRA POV-
My mind must have been in some other world cause I couldn’t get him out of my thoughts. Even his voice continued replaying in my head as I kept picturing his face in front of me. This wasn’t normal, although I couldn’t help it.
But…..
That smile.
His contagious laugh.
Those sparkling blue eyes.
The way he-
“Alex! EARTH TO ALEX!”
I hopped up from my chair and nearly spilled my caramel frappuccino off the table. I blinked my eyes repeatedly until I realized Sam was snapping her fingers continuously in front of my face.
“…what?” I mumbled, trying to gather my thoughts together.
“Did you hear what I JUST said?”
I began looking around the room aimlessly, unsure how to respond. Truth be told, I didn’t hear a single word she had said. I was stuck in a daydream that I didn’t want to get out of…
“no.”
“Well, while you were off in lala land..I was saying how I could get you a job at Joe’s…I mean, this way you can at least have some cash in your hands.”
My jaw dropped. I was DEFFINETLY not expecting her to offer that, but once she did I felt so relieved. I don’t know how I would ever repay her, but I was just thankful she was helping me out.
I really needed the cash.
“You seriously can do that for me?” I asked.
Samantha stifled a laugh as she played with the straw of her drink, wiggling it around.
“Don’t be silly! You know that my family owns the best pizza place in town! You can start working tomorrow…if you want?”
“Yes! Oh my god, thank you so much! I’m gonna need all the money I can get my hands on. Ugh. I still needa find a place to stay.”
“You’re welcome love, it’s the least I can do…you know, after what happened…” she began. “I would let you stay at my flat, but I’ve been living with Jason now.”
No way.
I began flailing my arms around, not even botherering to hold back the excitement I had for her. I knew she had been waiting F.O.R.E.V.E.R to live with Jason and I couldn’t be any more thrilled for her right now than I already am. They were perfect together.
“ OHEMGEEE YOU MOVED IN WITH HIM?!” I squealed.
She smiled ear to ear and nodded as her phone abruptly started ringing obnoxiously.
“Sorry babe, is it okay if I take this call?”
“Yeah sure, don’t worry about it.”
Samantha clicked the answer button and pulled her Iphone up to her ear. I could only hear her end of the conversation, but stayed quiet once she began to speak.
“ Hello?”

“ Im SO sorry. I will be there as quickly as possible.”

“Calm down.”

“Yeah, yeah I know dad.”

“I was catching up with Alexandra at Starbucks. Geez, don’t be so nosey.”
-
“Whatever.”

“Okay fine. I’m on my way.”

“Bye.”
Sam groaned and shoved her phone back into her Louis Vuitton bag.
“ I better get going. My lunch shift ended an hour ago. Daddy isn’t too happy.” She sighed.
We hugged each other goodbye and she promised to text me later. After that, she scurried straight out the door.
Her dad must’ve been really mad, cause she was gone in the blink of an eye.

Now, It was almost nine o’clock and I had been strolling around town all day and night. Time flew by extremely fast. I guess it was cause I spent most of my time lost in my own thoughts.
Shit.
It was getting late.
Plus, I had nowhere to go.
Even better.
I yawned and wandered over to the nearby park across the street.
Nobody was here.
I dragged my legs over to the closest maple tree.
As I laid my suitcase down, I unzipped it, pulling out another sweatshirt I had packed. I didn’t have a pillow, so I guess this would have to work. I rested my head down on the soft grass and stared up at the night sky and shining stars.
I don’t know how long I was staring, but soon my eyes got heavy to the point where I couldn’t keep them open much longer. I was planning on just taking a quick nap, but the sound of crickets put me into a deep sleep.
