Chapter 8 Part 1
Cambridge is so pretty. I looked out of the window of the towncar (A;N. It’s like a taxi for y’all) as it rolled across the tidy streets, lovely parks stretching out in front of beautiful, artistic glass buildings.
I sighed.
“Ell’s so lucky,” and the towncar driver smiled in the mirror.
“You visiting family?” I grinned and nodded. “Yes, my older sister Ellabree lives here with her two friends.” A glance of recognition fell across the driver’s face. “You’re sister Ellabree? As in-“
“Yes,” I interjected. “Ellabree Kowals. I’m Perrie Kowals-Edwards, but I have adoptive parents who live in York.” The driver didn’t question that topic anymore, so we chatted about simple stuff, like the weather and such, until I reached the apartment building that Ell recently moved into.
I smiled as I paid the driver, picking up my suitcase out of the trunk. As I walked into the complex, a man who looked vaguely like a bodyguard stepped in front of me, a casual way to block me from walking. “I’m here to see Ellabree Kowals,”
I straitened my back up, trying to look as important as she is. “I’m sorry, I can’t let you go up. Ellabree is waiting for her younger sister, and after some unexpected guests showed up, I’m not supposed to let anyone else up.” The fuck? Do I not look like Ell at all?
“I AM Ell’s sister!” I demanded. “Her younger sister?” The man looked at me in doubt. “Perhaps you were missing that vital piece of information.” Oh my fucking shit. I know I look really old for my age, me being 17, but now he’s just being rude.
“Do you need to see my ID?” I questioned while I yanked it out of my purse. I waved it in his face, pointing out the clear Perrie Kowals-Edwards one it. The bodyguard shook his head in surprise.
“My apologies, Miss. I’ll let Ell know that you’ve arrived.” He stepped as I marched past him to the elevator. I’ll admit, I do have some sass to spare, but compared to Ell, who got all of her sass from me, I think I’m alright. I know I don’t look my age, but, seriously, it’s not like I don’t know that.
I shook that off and decided to call Ell, just so she knew that I’m here. She picked up right away, as if she was finding a way to exit a conversation or something. I pick up the phone right away when I’m trying to exit a conversation. “Perrie!”
She sounded excited, but also like she was on the verge of tears. Oh no. I hate seeing or hearing Ell cry, it was the worst thing in world when it was just Ell and my grandparents. “Hey Ell!” I tried to sound cheery, despite the fact that I was chocking up by the sound of her voice. “I just arrived, and I’m trying to find your apartment.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you the apartment number. Its 1347,” I nodded, realizing I was going the wrong way, but on the right floor. “I’ll be there in like 30 seconds, Ell. I can’t wait to find out who my surprise guests are!”
Ell emailed me last night, saying I might or might not have a “special guest” be waiting for me when I visit today. I’m not sure who it’s going to be, but I’m thinking along the lines of Jennifer Lawrence or Katy Perry.
“Right. Your surprise guests.”
Ell’s voice cracked at ‘surprise’. “They’re here, all right.” Ell sounded like she was actually crying now. “Ell? Are you ok?” I knew she wasn’t, but I just wanted to make sure that she knew that she’s not. “See you soon, Perrie.” And with that, she hung up.
I started to walk a little faster, hoping that the reason Ell’s crying is a person, so I can flat out punch them in the face. Someone’s in some deep shit as soon as I get there. I reached apartment 1347 and knocked loudly. “Ell?” I called loudly. “It’s Perrie!”
Not that she was expecting anyone else, I just want her to answer, so I can see for myself how she’s doing before she has time to collect herself. “Perrie?” Shit. Kenzie answered the door, not Ell.
Not that I don’t love Kenzie. Sometimes I love her more than Ell, but don’t let Ell know that. “Kenzie!” I ran up to her and gave her a hug. “You look so grown up! You’re beautiful!” I grinned, even though it’s not true.
The beautiful part, not the looking grown up part.
“You know I’ll never go through any part of my life not looking grown up, Kenz.” I joked. She shook her head. “You look great. Now c’mon in, you look like an idiot standing there. “Ell’s in the bathroom right now,” Kenzie said to me as we walked into her apartment towards the bonus room, where I’m sure Joey is.
“But she’ll be out shortly. We have to introduce you to our special guests. I think you can guess who they are, though.” I probably can't guess, Kenzie.
I suck at guessing.
Or reading minds.
Or taking hints.
Really, I suck at anything that involves talking, being the uncomfortable person I naturally am.
Kenzie stopped me as soon as we reached the bonus room door. “Perrie?” she seemed like she wanted to tell me something, but I could be wrong. “Yeah?”
“Everyone’s a little tense in there, we just had a pretty big argument right before we called.” Kenzie admitted. “Could you not mention anything about Ell’s anxiety, your childhood, Ell’s career, and…” She trailed off.
“And??” I prompted. “Well, there’s been some on and on tension about Zac,” she looked down. Who the hell is-Oh, Zac Efron. Duh, Perrie. I nodded. “I’ll mention nothing. Don’t worry Kenzie, I’ll only talk if I have to.”
Kenzie gave me a troublesome smirk. “Oh, I think you’ll have a hard time doing that.” Huh???????? All I got was another smirk from Kenzie as she opened the door, and I walked in, a little tentative about what I was going to see. I saw Joey with a couple of other people turned around, in part of a very serious conversation, at least I think it was serious, with the hushed, monotone voices.
“Hey! Perrie!” Joey shouted, and I couldn’t resist grinning, seeing that his energy level was off the charts, as usual. “C’mon over! You really have to meet these people!” I was shacking, literally, as I walked over to Joey and seeing him motion for me to close my eyes.
I did, and I felt Kenzie guide me over to where I could assume was next to Joey. “Ok, Perrie, your special guests are right in front of you. Don’t freak out too much, promise?” If my eyes were open, I would have rolled them. “Yeah, Joey, now get it over with! Let me open my damn eyes already.” I heard snickers as Joey burst out with laughter.
“Wow, I guess this is where Ell got her sass from,” said a peculiar voice.
Oh my god.
I know that voice.
I’ve heard it before.
On TV countless times I’ve heard it talk, in concerts countless times I’ve heard it sing.
My eyes snapped open, and to my disbelief, I saw Zayn Malik and the rest of One Direction staring at me.
Me, Perrie Kowals-Edwards.
Perrie Kowals-Edwards, who happens to be in a crop top.
Notes
Heyy everybaday!!!!!! Well, things are going a little iffy in Jillian-Land right now, so that's why I left y'all in a little cliff hanger there :D. I just got my surgery for my collerbone set up for Monday, so I'm really stressed. So, sorry if that chapter sucks. It's one of those short, crappy fillers people just HATE!!!!!!!!! I hate them too, but I couldn't concentrate enought to finish Chapter 8 all the way.
I just wanted to also let everyone know that you guys shouldn't believe one word I say about Perrie in this story. It's all fake, Perrie is a beautiful woman and I'm making all of her self-insults up. That's just how her character is in my story. Perrie in Not One Alike is not confident in herself AT ALL, and so that's why she says this stuff, even though I (along with everyone else) don't believe it for one second.
If I get 6 more comments, I'll update again tomorrow. So don't forget to
