Just part of the band

Chapter 1

The sun’s setting, it’s beautiful golden rays flowing across the lake. I smile at it, it’s so terrific, my feet dangling above the water. The blue contrasts with the sun and I hear yelling behind me. I turn my head around and see a smaller image of my father, he’s yelling for me to come in, it’s obvious. I sigh and get up, moving my body around and getting on my gazebo fully. I hear another call and look up, seeing him waving his arms, his image dark against the sun.

“Fine! I’m coming!” I yell and stand up, swiping off the dirt from my body. I walk over and grab my phone and iPod Touch off from one of the benches. I put my iPod in my pocket and run forward, another call coming my dad. I roll my eyes and turn on my phone, checking the time. It’s 8:39 PM, great, twelve hours away from an annoying plane.
My heart thumps fast as I run across the rocky terrain toward my white house. I look in it for messages from Hunter, my friend. But I see nothing, and shake my head slowly, sliding the cold phone back in my pocket to get warm.
“Kylee!” I hear a voice this time, and it’s my mother. I sigh and run faster, only to be shaken by a vibration from my phone. I do the quick turn around the side of my house and hop onto the front porch, leaning against one of the supports of the house.
“Kylee! I need help!” I roll my eyes, this call’s from Reagan, my 11 year old sister. We’re going on vacation to London tomorrow for a month, so we’re packing our car tonight. I take out my phone and open the front door with my other hand, I close it behind me and jog up the right side stairs, their sort of windy, curved to be exact. My mind reads my phone, it’s Hunter, finally.
The text says, Hi Ky! Lonnie here, Hunter’s busy for the next week, so if you text this number, you’ll be texting me! Yay! So...bye! I sigh, Lonnie’s Hunter’s twin sister, which happens to share a phone with him, even though it’s really his.
“Kylee!! Now!!” I tuck the phone back in my pocket and finish up the stairs, running and turning to the right into my sister’s room.
“I’m here, now what?” I say, and see the lower body of my sister, the upper part covered by a large box she’s carrying. I walk up to her and look around the box, trying to see what it is. “What is this?” I ask and grab the other half of it, it’s surprisingly partly heavy.
“It’s my One Direction stuff! All of it! Oh! And all the other posters in my room!” She says and I do a ‘seriously?’ face. Is she serious!? We’re going to be gone for a month, not a year!
“Why do you want to bring all of your posters!? We’re not moving there!” I yell and start to walk backwards, back toward the stairs, oh my, this is going to be hard.
“Because we’re renting a house for a month and I want it to be my room! And....One Direction’s in London!” She squeals and almost drops the big box, I lower my body a bit and help her catch it back up. I forgot, Reagan’s obessed with this boy band, One Direction, they’re okay, and not too bad looking, but I don’t really care. The only music I’ve heard from them is What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing, my sister’s loudest songs when she’s listening to them in her room, which is right next to mine.
“Oh! Ok! That makes more sense that you want to try to break my bones with your stones with their faces on it!” I say loudly, and sarcastically, starting to attempt to walk backwards. My mom walks by quickly, carrying Reagan’s suitcase.
Reagan laughs, “I don’t have rocks with their faces on it! That would be crazy! The heaviest thing I have is that One Direction lamp!” I step lightly down the last of the stairs and put down the box.
“Ok Rea, I need a break, that box weighs more than it should.” I take out my phone again and text back, Ok then Lonnie, ill text u l8ter, busy. I finish texting that and the other half of the box lifts up again.
“Break time over Kylee! We have to get this box in the car before mom and dad’s suitcases!” I let out a breath and bent down to pick the box back up again. I’m stepping onto the front porch when a vibration scares me out of nowhere. I told her that I was busy! I think and start jogging backwards, soccer does something to you.
I drop the box down on the ground next to the car, which has the back open conviently. Reagan wipes off her hands, “Good! Ok, after we get this is in the car, everything else other than the stuff already in the car will go!”
I roll my eyes, “Reagan, do you want to kill the plane helpers? With all the luggage we have, they’ll think we’re moving there!”
She claps her hands, “We should move there!” She grabs her end of the box and I pick my back up, we slide it into the big Ford next to the other, smaller box, full of magazines.
I shake my head and pick out my phone, looking at who texted me. It was Charity, Reagan’s little friend that has my number to text her. Hiii Kylee! Is Reagan there? Tell her tht I’m going to London 2!! For a week! Yayy!, I stare at the text, what? Why would Charity be there!? Her annoying older brother’s going to annoy me! Noo!
Reagan’s standing next to me before I know it and is snooping her eyes on my phone. I move it over a bit, hoping the kid doesn’t read it. “What are you reading? Is it innapropiate? Should I tell mom? Who said it? You?” Reagan tackles me with questions, as though I’m going to answer them all.
“No! And I was going to tell you the message before you started snooping!” I move the phone above my head, “Maybe I won’t tell you the text from Charity!”
Reagan’s blue eyes light up at her friend’s name, and she starts trying to jump up to see it. “Charity sent it! Please let me see! Please, please, please, please!” She begins whining and pulling on my shirt, just when I hear the front porch creak.
“Kylee! How many times do I have to tell you to stop hiding your sister’s texts from her!” I sigh, it’s dad, that means I have to do it.
“Fine,” I say and pull down the phone. “Shorty,” I whisper as she pulls the phone out of my hand and reads it.
“Oh. My. Gosh.” She screams happily and runs into the house, faster than when she had ran the kid marathon in May, Someone’s excited, I think and follow her into the house, the front door falling onto my face. I push it back open, just as my mom’s coming downstairs, so I open the door fully to let her through.
“Thank you Kylee,” my mom then leaves to the porch and onto the ground. I nod a ‘your welcome’ and jog up the stairs, I’m finishing off the stairs when I noticed that Reagan’s now on my phone, talking to Charity. I roll my eyes and walk a bit more down the hallway, turning into my room. I already packed everything in the car, so I’m fine.
I close the door and behind me and open up my laptop, putting in my username and password, then going straight to Facebook. I updated my status to, ‘Going on a plane, my life is boring =.=’ then logging out before checking if anyone was on, I don’t care right now, I just wanted to see the sunset again.
I hear Reagan scream again and cover my head with my pillow. Tomorrow’s plane ride will annoy the heck out of me.
