The Bet
A Bit of Trust
Chapter Two
“Put me down now.” I demanded. We had been at this for at least an hour and all the blood had rushed to my head and I had a huge headache.
“What is your problem now?” Zayn asked.
“It’s the same problem.” I placed both my elbows against Zayn’s back so I could rest my head on my hands and hoped that it would help.
“You’ll be fine.” He told me.
“Is that Missy Hale?” I heard someone near us ask her friend.
“Zayn you better get your butt moving before people start to surround you when they realize who I am.”
“Why?” he asked, but he started to walk across the street.
“Because I don’t want any pictures of this situation showing up in any of the tabloids and I also don’t want rumors to go around suspecting that we are dating.”
“On that thought…” he trailed off, stopping.
“Zayn Malik. I swear to the gods above if you start any type of rumor like that, I will ruin you.”
“Like I’d want to start any rumors that I’m dating you.” He said and I felt him continuing to walk down the street.
“At least we’re on the same page.” I commented, before my arms gave out and I just rested my head against Zayn’s back.
I felt myself wake up as I felt my body being moved. I groaned in protest from someone waking me up and felt that my head was feeling better.
“’Bout time you woke up.”
I groaned some more at the sound of Zayn’s voice. “How long have I been asleep?” I asked, keeping my eyes closed because I was planning of falling back asleep.
“I’d say it was about forty minutes.” He told me. “You were out too, you started talking at one point-”
“What?” I asked, my eyes snapping open and meeting Zayn’s.
“I said that you were talking in your sleep.” He repeated, sounding annoyed, but amused. “However, you were just mumbling so I couldn’t understand what you were saying.”
“Well good.”
“I do believe I caught you saying my name though.”
“You’re just saying that.” I told him.
“No, that was quite clear. In fact you yelled that.”
“Please tell me that is a joke.”
He shook his head. “The people around me at the time all gave me weird looks. Oh and, I think some guy snapped a picture of you awhile back, but I took his camera- so you’re good.”
“You did what?” I felt as if I was being dropped and my arms flew around Zayn’s neck for a second time.
Zayn just laughed and ignored me as he stopped and I turned my head to see a vender with lots of snacks and food.
“What can I get your sir?” the guy asked. The young boy didn’t seem to know which one of us to look at or who was the one who wanted something to eat.
“You want something Missy?” Zayn asked me after he had asked for a water and some crisps.
I looked around for something that I wanted before I simply told the guy waiting for my response that I would just take a bottle of mineral water.
“Nothing else?” Zayn asked me.
“Nope.”
“She’ll also have some crisps.” Zayn suddenly told the guy.
“I don’t want any crisps.” I looked over at Zayn.
“Crisps? Or no crisps?” the guy asked.
“Crisps.”
“Zayn.”
“Missy.” Zayn mocked me.
“Here you are.” The guy said, holding out our items. I didn’t want Zayn to reach out and grab them so instead I took my right hand and reached out, grabbing both the bags of crisps and then the bottles and placed the items on my stomach. I then felt Zayn dig into his pocket to grab his money so I quickly re-latched my arm around his neck.
“Thank you.” Zayn said to the man and then walked away. “Open that bag of crisps for me Missy.”
“What?”
“I guess I could always throw you back over my shoulder and just open the bag myself.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “I see what you’re trying to do here.”
“Is it working?”
“A bit.”
“Good, then open my bag of crisps.”
“Fine.” I said as I picked up the bag with one arm.
“I won’t drop you.” Zayn told me, as he seemed to notice my hesitation.
“Promise?”
“Promise.” He said.
I let go of his neck with my other arm and opened up the bag with less difficulty. I then lifted the bag in front of his face and dangled it back and forth, teasing him. I felt his hand move and he started to tickle me.
“No, no. Please, don’t do that.” I told him, as I squirmed around in his grip.
“Then don’t tease me.”
“I thought it was funny.” I told him. “But why did you buy food if you wouldn’t even be able to eat them?” I then opened my bag and popped a crisp in my mouth.
“Oh come on Missy; just place one in my mouth.”
I started laughing and couldn’t stop. I don’t know why it was so funny, but it was and I couldn’t help it. Zayn gave me a weird look which made me stop. “Sorry. Fine, here.” I told him, as I grabbed two chips and put them both in his opened mouth.
We both started to laugh and then we started to laugh even harder because we never thought we’d be in this situation laughing together.
