Trying

Olivia’s POV: 6 months later
I slowly walk down the hallway to my apartment door. Same old routine, same old scenery, same old life, but not same old self. I was different. When I met Harry, I felt like some things were worth living for. I had never felt that after my family had died. But, maybe us parting was for the best. I mean, I barely knew him. But, I did know that if you love someone, let them go if they want to. And if it was meant to be, then they will eventually find their way back to you. And boy would I be dammed if that boy came back to me. He was a fuckin’ superstar! I slowly open the door to my tiny apartment and walk to the living room. I instantly lay down on the couch, dropping my bag on the floor. I should be in college right now. Partying all night, having fun, but since my parents died I’ve been breaking my back trying to make ends meet. I sigh, and slowly lift myself off the small couch and walk into the kitchen. I make a break for the fridge, suddenly feeling very hungry. I open up the fridge door, only to reveal two apples, three eggs, and some pieces of bread. God, I really needed to go grocery shopping. But you can’t go grocery shopping if you don’t have money. I was lucky to be able to afford this apartment for god’s sake! I flopped down on the bed, and turn the T.V. on. I was also lucky to be able to afford cable. I turn it on to see Harry’s face looking straight at the screen. I sighed and flipped the T.V. off. I didn’t want to start crying again. Suddenly a knocking sound came from the door. “Landlord,” the guy shouts. I groan. He could be a complete asshole. I opened the door, and immediately, a finger was pointed at my face. “Your payment is 2 weeks late. If you don’t have the payment by the end of the week, well you can just pack your bags,” he shouts as he turns on his heel and stomps down the hall. “God,” I mutter as I wipe the spit off my face. Yup, complete asshole. I walk back into my apartment and slam the door, suddenly feeling frustrated as well. I only had half the money that I would need to pay for my apartment, and I wouldn’t get my paycheck until the day after the landlord said I needed to pay. But right now, I had to pay attention to a movie audition that I was planning on going to, which……..started in an hour. Shit. I had to get ready.
30 minutes, a bottle of hairspray, and 5 outfits later, I was done. I walk out the door, semi-confident about this audition. I had read all the books and was excited for the movies, so when they announced that there were going to be auditions for the part, I had immediately jumped at the opportunity.
I run to the bus stop at the end of the block and hop in, quickly paying the fee and taking a seat. This was going to be a long drive, so I had time to think. I thought about the audition, I thought about work, the rent that needed to be paid, and of course Harry. Harry, Harry, Harry. That one name sent shivers through my body. When he had first kissed me, I had seen fireworks. Literally, fireworks. Some women had explained that when you found the right person, you would see fireworks, you would feel warmth coursing through your body like fire. You would feel more than just ordinary, you would feel extraordinary. Harry did that to me. But I just had to let that go. He was a superstar and I was just an 18 year old. He was worth millions, and I was worth $600 dollars. Big difference.
I stumble off the bus and slowly walk up the steps of the city center. I stumble inside and quickly saunter up to the front desk. “I’m here for the 2:00 audition for the movie, Illusion,” I say to the receptionist. “You can just sign in at the end of the hall, third door on the right,” she says, without looking up from her magazine. “Thank you,” I mutter as I quickly strut down the hallway, checking my watch in the process. It reads 1:52. For once, I’m on time. I walk through the door the receptionist instructed me to, and see a huge crowd bustling around and many official looking people running around, ushering people into lines. And the noise, I swear it was as loud as a buffalo stampede. I wonder how I didn’t hear it from down the hall. I need to get my game together if I’m going to audition for this. I close my eyes, take a deep breath in, clear my mind of all thoughts, and put a smile on my face. When I open my eyes, a professional looking man is pointing me towards a line off to the far left. I nod as I sign in and head to the line he instructed.
I finally reach the front of the line and that’s when the nerves start kicking in. I take a few more deep breaths and decide that I need a game plan if I going to somewhat impress the judges. Well, the character I was auditioning for was an angel. An angel of darkness to be exact and the actor was supposed to have a creepy, give you shivers kinda feeling. So as a man appeared from behind the door, I made a decision. Why not freak the judges out before I even give them my performance. I really did want this for some reason. It could mean a possibly better life and I loved the books. I took one more deep breath before ducking through the door. I walked into the room with a sense of confidence. More than I thought I had. I kept my head forwards and my eyes steel. As soon as I reach the middle of the room, I turn and look to the judge’s panel. I almost lost the whole act when I saw who was sitting at the table. I knew they would be famous people but not this famous. Sitting at the table was, Jennifer Lopez- who was playing the angel of light in the movie-, Daniel Radcliff-who was playing the writer in the movie-, and Louis Tomlinson-who was playing the writers brother. I took in another breath while so many thoughts ran through my head. ‘He knows Harry. Is Harry doing good. Why do I care. He’s worth millions and your worth $600.Ask about Harry. Just shake it off.’ I decide to go with the latter. “Hello,” Louis says politely. I put a dark look on my face and give a slight nod. I can almost see him do a double take. So far so good. “What’s you name sweetheart,” Louis tries again. “Let’s try the name, I’m not your sweetheart,” I say with attitude and I put my hands on my hips for affect. Louis puts his pen down on the table for something to do. I can tell that I’m freaking him out. “I see that your names, Olivia Mason,” Danielle says. I raise my eyebrows in a ‘what else would it be’ look. He starts chewing his bottom lip. Now he’s freaked. “How about we start the audition,” Jennifer says as she throws her hands in the air. She’s clearly not happy with the situation. “Ready,” she asks. I give her my signature ‘I’ve been ready’ smirk and she gives me an uncomfortable smile before giving me the go sign.
