Chapter 45
Annie’s POV
Harry and I walked into the school Monday morning in a jumble of giggles and chuckles. Well, I was the one giggling like a dork and Harry was the one making me laugh. As usual. He rested his arm on top of my shoulders and pulled me against him as he kissed the top of my head. I wrapped my arm around his ribcage and looked up to see his emerald eyes admiring me with a soft smile.
“Hey love birds!” Louis called from down the hallway more. He was standing with Eleanor, his hand was snaked around her waist keeping her close. El’s cheeks were pink like they always were when she was around Lou. I wonder if my cheeks were always red around Harry? Probably who am I kidding…
Liam, Dani, Zayn, and Perrie stood not far away and in a similar position as Louis and Eleanor. Niall was talking to a girl with brunette hair, Niall’s unmistakable laugh rung out over the hallway chatter. He leaned on the lockers and I could see the girl laughing nervously and happily with him. It was easy to tell that she really like him.
“Lizzie Rychester.” Eleanor whispered into my ear as she saw me gazing at the two. I looked at her and noticed that she had detached herself from Louis and he was now standing on the other side of Harry talking to him. I lifted Harry’s arm off of me so that I could talk to Eleanor. He looked at me suddenly and I smiled mischievously at him.
“Leaving me?” He whispered and I shook my head as I felt my cheeks warm. He pecked my lips quickly and turned his attention back to Louis who was raising an eyebrow at him.
I turned back to Eleanor and she was giving me a facial expression similar to the one that Louis had given Harry. “What?” I asked.
“You guys are so damn cute it’s ridiculous.” She laughed and punched my arm playfully. I smiled and looked down in embarrassment. “So, how was the date on Friday?” She asked.
“Oh! Eleanor!” I squealed. “It was AMAZING!” I said and I could feel my eyes growing large.
“Mhmm. Did you guys uh.” She winked at me and wiggled her eyebrows.
“Eleanor!” I gasped. “No! Get your mind out of the gutter!” I laughed.
“Well!” She raised her eyebrows at me.
“I don’t know. I don’t think that’s really our thing.” I shrugged feeling my stomach tickle with butterflies.
“You don’t THINK?” She asked.
“I don’t know. We’ve never talked about it so that’s why I’m figuring he’s not really into that either.”
“Ah. Anyway so what did you guys do? Why was it so AMAZING,” She imitated me, “If you guys weren’t getting busy.”
“Okays seriously Eleanor, stop with that okay? We haven’t done it and haven’t even TALKED about doing it.” I reasoned.
“What have we not done, and what have we not talked about doing?” Harry asked beside me making me jump. I felt my heart rate increase and butterflies erupt in my stomach. I felt my cheeks flush and could see Eleanor trying to stifle a laugh.
“Nothing!” I said quickly.
“Uh huh.” He chuckled and snaked his hand under my hair to stroke the back of my neck with his thumb. Gosh he knows how much that small gesture makes my heart beat even faster right? Of course he does that’s why he does it all the time…
“Oh we’re just talking about how you guys haven’t fucked yet and that you apparently haven’t TALKED about fucking yet either.” Eleanor said matter-of-factly.
“El…” I breathed and felt Harry flinch beside me.
Harry clapped his hand on Eleanor’s scapula as he said, “Get your mind out of the gutter El.” He chuckled.
“Anyway!” I said desperate to change the subject. “So you wanted to know what happened on the date right?” I said.
“Mhmm” Eleanor said trying hard not to burst out laughing.
“Oh! You’re talking about the date huh?” Harry said suddenly intrigued by the new conversation topic. “Yeah I took her to dinner and then to the park where we had our first kiss.” He glanced at me as he spoke and kept his gaze on me for a couple more seconds.
“Cute cute.” Eleanor said as she collected herself.
“Then the flash mob that I organized with Cameron started and then I asked her to Prom and she said yes.” He said glancing at me again with a small smile playing on his lips. I leaned into him as his hand found my lower back.
“Awww!” Eleanor squealed. “I’m so glad the flash mob worked Harry!”
I felt my eyebrows knit into a frown. “You knew about it?”
“Of course I did. I had to try to keep you calm when Harry talked to Cameron at school of course.”
“Ohhhh. Wow the past week all of a sudden makes perfect sense.”
“I told you to trust me love.” Harry chuckled and I nudged him playfully.
The bell sounded throughout the hallways and Harry turned me toward him and embraced me in a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and felt him crush me against him. He lifted his hands from my waist to cup my cheeks and pulled me against his lips.
“I’ll see you at lunch.” He said softly and pecked my lips again before walking around me to catch up with Lou.
Eleanor linked her arm with mine as we started walking to Chemistry. “You suck.” I chuckled.
“It is but my job to make you feel uncomfortable though.” She laughed.
“No, that’s my MOM’S job.” I said.
“True enough. Alright then it’s just really fun.”
“You still suck.” I laughed. “So has Lou asked you to Prom yet?” I asked changing the subject.
Her shoulders slumped a bit. “No he hasn’t. I mean it’s obvious that he’s going to but I don’t know when or what he’s planning.”
“Well we should go Prom dress shopping together.” I said as we walked into our classroom just as the bell to start class rung.
“Duh!” She laughed. “Liam has already asked Dani, and Zayn has already asked Perrie. So all of us should go!”
“Yeah that’d be awesome! Do you think Niall is going to ask that Lizzie girl?”
“Well the way that they’ve been talking probably.”
“She should come with us too then.” I smiled and she nodded as the teacher started his lecture on mitosis.
Harry plopped on the stool next to me at lunch and made me jump, my heart beating faster for a second.
“Gah you scared me!” I laughed.
“Yeah I know.” He chuckled and snaked his hand around my waist. He pulled me closer to him so that he could kiss my temple. He turned my face towards his and pressed his lips to mine.
“You guys are honestly so bad when it comes to public display of affection.” Zayn laughed from across the table.
I smiled against Harry’s lips and tried to pull away but Harry pressed he harder against him. “Harry.” I chuckled and then he released me.
“I’m sorry what was that Zayn?” He chuckled.
“You heard me idiot.” He laughed and chucked a grape at him, which he caught easily in his mouth.
Everyone slowly went back to their conversations and Harry looked at me as he ate a chip. “So, did you and El talk about Prom during first period?” He smiled.
“Of course.” I laughed and picked at my salad.
“How did Louis ask Eleanor?” He said taking a bite of his sandwich.
I laughed, “He hasn’t even asked her yet.”
His eyes grew wide and he chuckled. “Ay mate!” He called across the table and Louis turned to look at him. “You haven’t even asked her to Prom yet? Keep up man!” He laughed and El laughed and turned to look at Lou with an eyebrow raised.
“You suck Haz!” He said and turned to look at Eleanor. “Babe, will you go to Prom with me.”
El looked at me with an eyebrow raised and I shook my head. I gave her a “make him work dammit” look and she understood perfectly.
“What? I’m sorry Lou it’s too loud in here.”
His eyebrows kitted into a frown and he raised his voice. “Eleanor, will you go to Prom with me?”
“Did you hear something Annie?” She looked at me with a fake sort of concern and confusion. I shook my head and continued picking at my salad as I tried not to laugh.
I saw Harry’s gaze turn to me. “What do you mean you can’t hear him? I can hear him and I sitting right next to you.”
I laughed and pulled his shirtsleeve so that he leaned toward me. I pressed my lips against his ear and said, “Of course I can hear him. She’s trying to make him work for it so I have to play along.”
“Ohhhhhh. Gotcha. Women are mysteriously devious creatures.” He said almost to himself as he popped another chip into his mouth.
Louis looked at Harry for help when Eleanor still “couldn’t hear him” and Harry made a gesture to Lou that I didn’t quite understand.
Louis rolled his eyes and sighed. He nodded as if he was confirming a thought in his mind and stood up from the stool where he sat.
Harry took that as a cue and also stood up from his stool. I looked at him confused as he looked around the cafeteria. “Excuse me everybody!” Harry yelled. “Uh. HEY!” He shouted at the top of his lungs and the entire cafeteria was stunned to silence. I clapped my hand to my mouth as I tried not to laugh and I ducked my head, as I knew my cheeks would be turning pink. I looked up and Eleanor’s face was priceless. Her eyes were huge and her mouth was open forming a small “o.”
Louis was looking at Harry with a similar expression as Harry plopped back down in his seat. Clearly Lou didn’t know he was going to do that. Harry gave him a look and Lou tried to collect himself. My entire table was trying desperately not to laugh. Liam’s head was nearly on the table with his hand over his mouth and Dani’s face was buried in Liam’s shoulder as he shoulders bounced in a silent laugh. Niall was hiding behind his sandwich as he tried not to laugh too. Louis collected himself and used the stool as a step and walked onto the cafeteria table.
“Eleanor Calder!” He bellowed and her facial expression didn’t change when she tilted her head up to look at him.
“Y—Yes?” She said clearly baffled.
“Will you please go to Prom with me?” He said shyly and the cafeteria erupted in a chorus of “awwws” and “OMGs.”
“Of course I will!” She squealed and the cafeteria cheered. Louis’ shoulders relaxed and he hopped down from the table. He embraced El in a hug and gave her a prolonged kiss on the mouth.
“There yah go. Now he asked.” Harry nudged me and I turned my gaze to look at him. His emerald eyes were looking at me with passion and he leaned in to peck my lips.
“Okay we’re going Prom dress shopping tomorrow!” Eleanor squealed as her and Lou sat down at the table again.
“Sounds like a plan! Perrie, Dani, are you in?” I asked.
“Duh!” Perrie said.
“Of course!”
