HALF A HEART

"Annie! When I come up to your room your bags better be fully packed! The moving trucks will be here at 7 tomorrow morning!"

I pretended not to hear my mother as I re-taped all of my posters back onto my walls. My mom's job is forcing us to move to London (half way around the world, away from my friends and everyone I know, and it's really fucking cold there). I live in Los Angeles. AKA, it's pretty much always a beach day and my skin is always sun-kissed. My dad died when I was eight and I don't have any older siblings so that means I have to pack up and move my life to the UK....how about no?

I shoved my ear buds into my ears and crashed on my bed listening to Journey. My mom came upstairs a few hours later and took my iPhone and any other distraction away so I would be forced to take my posters down again and actually pack...ugh.

So I ripped the life...my life...out of my room, packed it into boxes and labeled them and took them downstairs for when the moving trucks arrived in the morning.

The next morning my mom woke me up with french toast to try and make the worst day of my life a bit more "perky." My best friend Emily came over and we hung out for the last time in a really long time. I wanted to cry but...im not a crier...i refuse...just no.

The plane ride was filled with countless Disney movies because...who doesnt love a Disney classic right? My mom didnt want to pay for an international plan so that meant any connections I had with my life in LA was severed and I was forced to start over...completely...

We got to our new home which granted was actually really nice and really pretty so i was psyched about that. I taped all of my posters onto my new walls and decked my room out with all of my stuff from LA...it just wasnt the same... And to top it off I had school the next morning... Joy...
