Still the One
Chapter ten
Harry's POV:
"Friday, hmm it's so long away." I said to myself as I walked back to my house. It was only a few streets away, but it felt like I was walking forever. She had pulled back, she obviously isn't interested. I walked along, thinking, wondering what was going through her mind. I thought we had a connection, a bond, something special that I'd never had with anyone else before. She was special. I've hated her for most of my life, and now, well I can't get her off my mind. I never realised how much we had in common. As I approached my house, I could see that no lights we on. 'Everyone must be out at that new restaurant opening' I thought to myself as I stood staring at my lifeless house. I decided to go at least join the party, anything to cheer myself up. Charlotte, well I assume she doesn't want anything to do with me. The way she pulled back, I mean most girls at my school would normally be straight in if I did anything like that to them. But Charlotte, she's just different. As I walked up the street to the town centre, I could see the restaurant in the distance, it only looked like a 2 minute walk. As I was walking along, I gazed into shop windows. I glanced past River Island, a few charity shops, the local post office, until I saw something that made me stop completely still. Charlotte. She's sat having coffee with another boy. They were chatting, laughing, and looked like they were having a great time. That should be me. I can't just stand here and watch her with another boy, I have to do something. I was about to walk through the door until I realised something, if I was to go in, what would that look like? It would look like I was following her around, which is not the best image. I knew I'd have to restrain myself from going in. I decided to give her a quick text, just to see if she'd ignore me for him. I pulled out my iPhone and tapped on the keyboard 'Hey Charlotte, I was wondering if you could meet me at the Topleys Restaurant in about 5 minutes. I need to talk to you". Send. I watched her with him, she didn't even flinch. I decided to just go ahead and call her- what was the worst that could happen? 'Glad we exchanged numbers in history for the project now' I thought to myself as I waited for her to pick up. No answer, I peered through the window to see just that boy sat there. Charlotte must've gone to the toilet or something, her coat and phone was still on the table. I watched the boy decline my call to her, acting as if nobody had rang when she re-entered the room. I decided to just head over to the restaurant as she was probably having a great time with that guy she was sat with anyway.
As I got into the restaurant, I saw it was full of mostly 30-50 year olds, so I just decided to go home. I needed some space to think to figure out what was going on between me and Charlotte...
