Still the One
The First Day
Charlotte's POV:
"First day of Yr11, great! Now settle down class, you're all getting a new seating arrangement as you cannot work in your old one." My History teacher droned on; I really couldn't care less about what he was saying. I was more interested in my art class, where I would get to see my best friend Sophie, next period - an whole hour away! Great.
"... And here will be sitting Charlotte Stanley and Harry Styles." My History teacher said pointing to the two empty seats at the back of the classroom. 'Great Mr. Popular! He'll just sit there flirting with stupid Becky or any of the other tarts' I thought to myself as I walked towards my new seat. I dumped my bag onto the desk, took out the required equipment (as well as my doodle book), then placed it under the table. Harry was already sat down, writing on something that looked as if it had been torn out of a workbook. He's most likely just writing something down about the next party the populars are holding. I thought to myself as I started to draw in my doodle book. My doodle book is normally the only thing I write in during History; I can't listen to Mr. Jones for the next hour, and not do anything. I decided to draw a woman looking out onto a dark lake.
"Hey, nerd, do you have a pen I could borrow?" Harry asked, already looking through my pencil case. I took it back off him.
"Sure." I replied, handing him the black fountain pen my dad brought back from Dubai. That was probably the first time I'd ever spoken to Harry; he's always so busy with 'the populars'. Me and Sophie usually try to avoid them, as last time we went passed them, they threw a strawberry milkshake at us. I must say that it wasn't our best look.
Harry, James and Kyle make up the populars, who are constantly being followed by the school tarts. Whenever we see them we can't help but laugh - do they seriously think that wearing 2 inches of make-up on their face looks attractive?
"Right class! Over the next few weeks, you will be working on an assignment about The Tudors, and no you won't be able to choose your partners; it'll be whoever you're sat next to." Mr. Jones announced blankly. Great. 'Mr. Popular' and 'the unsocial nerd'. Truth is, there is no one I want to talk to other than Sophie; literally everyone in our year is either a jerk, horrible, or a tart - I swear me and Sophie are the only normal ones!
"You can do it all, and I'll just sign my name." Harry said, rolling the pen back towards me.
"Erm... No." I said sternly, "We're both doing this - you're not getting out of it Harry." I continued, raising my eyebrows.
"I've got more important things to do than you." Harry replied, flipping his curly locks. More important things? Like what? Staring at himself in the mirror for five hours?
"Like what?" I questioned him, not breaking eye contact.
"I've got parties to go to, people to see, and things to do. What have you got to do, other than talk to your one friend." Harry said with a smug look on his face, as if he actually though he had offended me.
"Parties on a Wednesday night? Yeah, I don't think so. Just face it, you aren't getting out of this one no matter how important you think you are. And for your information, I do have other things to do in my free time as well Harry - you aren't the only person with a social life you know!" Well that left him shocked.
"Time to pack away now class." Mr. Jones said expressionless.
"Fine! Can we go to yours after school then and start this nightmare off? I can't have my family thinking my social standards have dropped."
"Okay, whatever, be there about 4:30." I said handing him a piece of paper with my address on.
"Fine, but nobody better find out about this!"
"Whatever, just don't be late." I say as I walk away from him, heading towards my next lesson: art. At least I have an hour of peace with my best friend.
