Catch Me, If You Can

Mary’s POV

“Hey!” Jay yelled. I walked over to her.
“Hey.” I said, opening my locker. I got my stuff out.
“Is it true?” People swarmed me when Jay asked the question.
“What true?” I shoved my bag in my locker, and got out my books.
“The engagement!” Sadie yelled. I felt every eye on me. I looked at my very un-clean locker.
“Oh, that. Yeah. Its true.” Everyone squealed. And left Jay and I alone. “Well. That was fun. I didn’t even get to tell them that Zayn’s in town.” Jay looked at me.
“You're kidding!” She said.
“Nope. He drove me to school. And he’s babysitting me after school.” Jay laughed.
We walked down the hall. I heard everyone talking about Perrie’s and Zayn’s engagement.
“Babysitting? Come on! We’re eighteen!” She said.
“Well, not babysitting, necessarily. More like get-to-know-the-future-in-laws-so-we-know-how-to-kill-each-other! kind of day.” Jay laughed even louder.
“You’re worried about that? He’s going to be your brother! That means you’ll have all access to One Direction! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! And you're plotting to kill him?” She said.
“No! Sarcasm, idiot.” I sighed. “I’m excited. Just...not excited for the new family.” She shrugged. She had two step families. And she’s not the biggest fan of either of them. Still, she smiles. And does her best for her mum and dad.
“Oh. Yeah, I understand. Well, we better get to homeroom. If I’m late to class one more time, I’ll get a Saturday School. And you know how my parents are.” We laughed and walked down the hall.
