Darkness

The sound of the waves crashing woke me up the next morning. I realized I had fallen asleep on entangles in Harry's arms on the beach. I slowly pulled myself up and looked around , still registering the situation.

Harry woke up soon after and smiled "Good morning Aud" , I smiled back "Morning Harry , what happened last night... I don't remember anything after looking up at the sky" I said still dazed. "Well , you fell asleep in my arms and I didn't want to wake you up because you looked so peaceful so I switched off the car's lights and covered you with my jacket cause you were cold and held you" he said letting out a smirk. "Oh! I just realized I am wearing your jacket" I said embarrassed."It's fine , come on I think I should get you home" he got up. "Yeah let's get out of here" I smiled. We got back into the car and harry asked started driving as the sun started to glide into the background.

\It was a short drive past the beach and through the city but the car ride was time well spend, we talked about how much we both loved to play golf and a good hearty pasta, where we went to college.....
"I was a pre-law student enrolled at Yale but soon I realized that is not what I wanted to do with life.." I was explaining
"so you just left?"
"Not really" I giggled "I applied to Columbia secretly during my first semester and when I was accepted I finished the end of semester exams and moved- I didn't tell my parents or friends and just moved!"
"why?" he was curious
"One, I didn't want to be judged for what I wanted to do in my life and two, my parents would have never let me and stopped the process somehow"
"judged?" he picked up on that.
"Yeah , my mother is a Carson - and her parents were hollywood royalty and my dad a Tulane. They have always put a lot of pressure on me to act up to their level" I revealed looking away.
"Hmmm" he let out "I wish I was bold enough to tell my parents what I want to do"
"...and what is that " I couldn't help but smile
"Well Instead of USC business school, I would have loved to become a singer - corny right?" he mused.
"Noooo! " I let out. "I can't judge you if I have never heard you sing!" I pointed out
"Well not anytime soon, the last time I sang was in middle school when I was really into the whole idea of 'make it as a musician' then I gave up cause I realized it wasn't for me" his words like elixir.

We laughed and this conversation somehow lead to talk about work and our lives and for a second I forgot all about the problems and worries I had. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I was driving around with Harry. This is perfect.

We were soon pulling up near the entrance of the Golden hills residences and harry said "well... we are almost home so before I miss the chance , Audrey Tulane , would you like to go out to dinner sometime with me ? I promise a good Italian dinner" he added.
I smiled
"I would love to"
"Good! Now which way to your house?" he beamed
"Go straight and take the 3rd right , it's the white mansion to your left."
As we drive past "I think I live down the block" he pointed.
"Well like I told you I just recently moved back to L.A. so still new to the neighborhood" I giggled. "Which on is it then?"
He pointed down the road "It's the creme one with the gray roofing"

We were almost there.

Then I noticed something odd. As we were pulling up on my driveway all I saw were the lights - blue and red. My wonderful morning with harry had turned into a disaster.
"Oh god" I heard Harry.

The police cars were blocking the driveway and all I could hear was the siren and officers talking on their walky talky.
"What is going on ?" I asked myself as I got out the car in a hurry.
Harry followed behind me and stayed close.
I went up to one of the officers and asked "Good morning , may I know what is going on here?"
"I am sorry, who are you?" his voice was stern.
"Audrey Tulane , I live here"
"Well Ms.Tulane , your parents have been arrested."

OH NO!
DID THEY FIND OUT?
NO! NO! NO!

I saw my father dressed in his navy velvet robe being dragged out the house in cuffs and my mother in her white silk robe. They saw me and not a single word!
I was their daughter and they didn't care or even bother to give me an explanation for what was going on. Not a single word and I am here worried sick.

Suddenly , I heard Harry whisper "Audrey the paps are here , come on let's go in first"
I was still in shock.
The siren and the paparazzi screaming and the confusion and the mess.
Not again.
