AUDREY'S POINT OF VIEW

"It's a Saturday night and you are telling me you rather stay home and read poetry?" Lila spoke with a sarcastic tone "who doesn't love a good party?"she continued.I slowly put down the Oscar Wilde's poetry collection and looked at her with a smile.
"Lila I don't want to go to some random guy's house to drink and get high, I just don't see the point!" I marked.
"Audrey you are a waste of my youth!!" she exclaimed. She slowly moved towards me and sat beside me on my bed and put her arm around my neck, "Audrey, darling, please live a little ! I need a wing-woman tonight... and if you think about it -where we are going is to Tommy's house and he has only invited a few people so it's not like a huge party where people are stripping and doing drugs ! It's a small get together.....please! please ! please! I need you tonight!" and ended her argument with her ever adorable puppy dog eyes.

I couldn't let her down and even if I did argue and escape out of this 'party' she would hold it over my head or continue bothering me the whole night. She has always been there when I needed her - she has always been the shoulder I cried on, the sister I never had , the one person I searched for in the crowd and the best friend who was beside me sharing the most amazing moments of my life.

"Fine! " . I gave in making her leap in joy as I interrupted "but....." and her faced turned into one of concern " I stay sober so we can drive back ! so no forcing me to drink !" she looked at me confused then she exclaimed "Audrey Tulane ! I love you and the state of California thanks you for being an outstanding citizen !"
How did I end up with her for a best friend ?

As we drove past the city the lights drifted the random memories into my head while Lila was going on about this new restaurant in town and how much she has been wanting to go there but I taught about was how my life had turned out , how much I had to cover up just to stay the afloat . Life is funny because it has a way of surprising you when you least expect it.
How did I end up here in Los Angeles ? How did my life become a cry for help ? Why doesn't anyone see it ?
