Runaway
Prologue
Sierra POV
I stood next to my father smiling at the camera.
"Okay everyone say cheese." The photographer says.
We all just kind of fake smile saying nothing. Family pictures are really probably the only time that our whole family is ever together. When the photographer finishes the mask of happiness drops. Mom gets out her Bluetooth and starts talking. Dad runs off to his study. Carol and Michael head off to the nursery and Alex slips off to god knows where. Looking around the living room I wonder what it would be like to have a normal family. One that does things together and is happy. I head up to mom's study. Knocking on the door she turns to face me. I go to speak but she holds up her finger stopping me.
"Not now Sierra."
I sigh and turn towards dad's study. Arriving there I knock on the door.
"Whats up Sierra?"
I go to talk but then his phone rings. Picking it up he turns to me.
"Whatever it is I'm sure it can wait."
He turns back around and starts talking. That does it. I head up to my room. Big and spacious with a kind size bed, full sized bathroom and walk in closet my room looks like a girl's dream. Not to me. I grab my backpack from under the bed. I head over to my closet. Stuffing some clothes inside I just grab the essentials. Phone, charger, ipod check. I head over to the safe in the living room. Opening it up I grab stacks and stacks of cash. My parents will never miss it and I can't use credit cards they can be traced. Finishing packing I throw my hair up into a ponytail and grab my shoes. Opening the window I climb out onto the sloped roof and drop off the end. Running across the grass I then scale the wall. On the other side I stop. Where to go next. I head to the Greyhound bus station. I might as well catch some random bus out of here. Reaching the station I pull out some cash and an id and head to the ticket counter.
"Whens the next bus?"
"In 15 minutes. Aren't you a little young to be travelling by yourself?"
"No ma'am I turned 18 a couple of months ago."
She hands me a ticket and mutters something about young people these days. I head to the benches to wait. I consider looking at my ticket to see where the bus was going but decide it might be better a surprise. Soon enough the bus pulls into the station. Headed up I sit close to the front and put my ear buds in. Looking out the window my mind wanders as to what this adventure may hold.
