Loved you First

The sun rose orange above the horizon on the morning of April 17. It was the big day for Jenna Preston. Today, at precisely 2:00, she would be getting married to her best friend, soul mate, and long-time crush, Harry Styles. The two had meet at a concert that Jenna had been so fortunate to attend a few years ago when the band was at their peak of fame. Of course, that's not to say they aren't still very famous today. Their life of stardom had just died down slightly, leaving them only front page news occasionally now. For instance - today's wedding.

Jenna awoke alone in her bed, still cold though she was covered in seven blankets. She sat up, searching the room until she remembered that Harry couldn't be here today. It's unlucky to see the bride before the wedding ceremony on the day they're to be married. Slowly, Jenna unraveled herself from the bed and sat her feet on the cold, wooden floor. Her curly hair at on her shoulders as she stared out the window thinking of her fiance.

Since the band One Direction had caught her eye with it's single "What Makes you Beautiful" she had been head over heels for Harry. That curly-headed Brit had ensnared her heart. It was completely by coincidence that the two had meet. Jenna had been at a concert back in 2014 when she had literally bumped into Harry. The two had gone sprawling on the ground. After the two laughed it off, they began to talk about nothing in particular and then Harry had offered her his number. Harry had proposed to Jenna almost ten months ago on her birthday. That had most definitely been the most magical moment of her life. At least, until this afternoon hopefully.

Over the few years that the two had been a couple, Jenna and Harry's band members had grown close. In fact, she and Niall had developed a very strong friendship. However, aside from the rehearsal, tonight would be the first time that Jenna's friends would meet the four friends that had changed her soon-to-be husbands life. Of course her friends had meet Harry, but it was hard to socialize with the boys when they all had lives outside of touring. Jenna was very excited, especially considering the fact that her friend Cassie was a Directioner just like her.

At that moment, Jenna realized that her bridesmaids had all spent the night and had probably gathered in the living room. She threw on her silken robe (Harry had purchased it for her as a Christmas present) and went to find her friends. They were, after all, in the living room. Cassie and Amanda were seated on the couch, while Ashley was reclined in a chair. Jenna's cousin Kourtney was sprawled out on the floor and Harry's sister Gemma was sitting in a barrel chair. There was a spread of toast, bacon, fruit, scrambled eggs, jams, and orange juice out on the coffee table in the middle of the room.

"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty! How was your slumber?" Cassie draped herself over the back of the couch, her mess of hair falling into her face. All the other girls turned and smiled at her, giving various morning greetings.

"We have taken it upon ourselves to prepare a wonderful feast on this glorious morning!" Ashley lazily put down recliner.

"Yeah, I noticed we forgot the coffee." Amanda eyed the table. She then turned to Cassie. "Cassie..." Her hazel eyes pleaded.

"Fine." Cassie rolled her eyes and got up. "Does anyone else want a cup? Otherwise I'm only making half a pot." She lingered in the doorway of the rather large kitchen.

"I'll take a cup," Gemma said. "Sugar and milk, please."

With that Cassie ventured into the kitchen to make coffee. For as long as the group had been hanging out she had made it for everybody. At first it was a nuisance, but after so long it had become a normality.

Jenna went and sat down in a barrel chair next to Gemma and Ashley. The fuzzy cream carpet tickled her feet.

"So, you've got your hair and nail appointment at ten. We can grab something to eat on our way to the church and then we'll do your makeup and put on your dress. After that, it won't be much longer until the ceremony. How are you feeling?" Amanda laid out the days agenda.

Jenna bit her lip. "I'm kind of nervous." She said. "But I'm also really excited."

"You better not get cold feet and leave my brother at the alter." Gemma joked, her accent flowed freely from her lips.

"That's not going to be a problem." Jenna sighed dreamily. All the girls laughed.

"The coffee's done!" Cassie hollered from the other room. "Go get your damn plates while I get your cups ready, We don't want to be late!"

The moment had come. Jenna stood behind the large wooden doors leading into the sanctuary of the church. Behind the doors waited Harry, the preacher, and about two-hundred guests. A tear fell down Jenna's face, his was the moment she had dreamed about since the first time she saw the boy wish curly brown hair, green eyes, and dimples in his smile.

All of her bridesmaids and groomsmen stood in front of her. Amanda was paired up with Niall who seemed to have a permanent scowl on his face which was very unlike him. Something was wrong, the only problem was that Jenna had no idea what it was. Cassie was paired with Louis who kept cracking jokes and making her laugh.so hard she would snort. Kourtney was paired with Liam, and Kourtney seemed rather uncomfortable with this. Gemma was with Zayn, the two stood there talking as if they were out somewhere nonchalant, and Ashley was paired with Kody, the ginger friend of Jenna's group of friends.

Harry's assistant knocked from the other side of the door and peeped in. "Are you all ready?" She asked, smiling and Jenna.

"We're good to go." The bride replied.

"Alright, entourage, go." She opened the doors a little wider and let them walk out.

Jenna waited for the music and doors to open, which was her cue. After a short moment, the bridal march began to play and the doors opened wide. Jenna held her bouquet of red roses up and proceeded to walk out the doors and into the isle. There were so many people there, waiting for her to be happily married. It was overwhelming, but as soon as Jenna's eyes found Harry, all was well again.

Her whole walk down the isle she didn't take her stare off him, their smiles growing in sync with one another. When she made it to the alter, Harry held his hand out to her and she took it. All of the bridesmaids smiled at her, Gemma was already crying silently, tears falling down her face.
The ceremony was faster than expected, but it surely was the most lovely, heartfelt thing that Jenna had ever felt. She and Harry placed the rings onto each others fingers and said their vows, adding in their own, too. Harry's heartwarming and quirky and Jenna's loving and admiring. But finally the time came when the priest spoke the words that the whole room had been waiting for, "And now, you may kiss the bride."

When their lips touched it seemed like time had stopped still. It was only Jenna and Harry, the two who were now about to be announced Husband and Wife. The two who would now be Mr. and Mrs. Harry Styles. The adoring fangirl and the rock-star. Two people who knew they were meant for one another. Their kiss was deep and long and had to be broken off by their priest announcing that they were both now man and wife. The church erupted into cheers and it seemed like everyone was crying. Jenna was crying, Harry was crying, all of the bridesmaids were crying, Jenna's mother and father, and half of their guests. Jenna and Harry grabbed hands once again. "I love you," Harry drawled softly. "I love you, too." Jenna whispered.

The reception was being held at a large convention center with a crystal chandelier in the middle of the dance floor and a rather vast selection of alcohol, which, I might add, was free for all. The food had been served - grilled chicken, potatoes, green beans, and rolls. Champagne (or water for those underage) was in every glass. Jenna examined all of guests to make sure they were happy. Each seemed to be, aside from Niall. But he had been in a bad mood all day, Harry had said. The Irishman had also been consuming far too much alcohol through the past nine hours. Jenna decided that later she would dance with him and see what was up. But now it was time for speeches.

Amanda delivered her speech first, since she was the Maid of Honor. She spoke of when she and Jenna were friends way back in school and how they had become even closer outside of school. She talked about how she was so happy the Jenna and Harry had found each other. That there was no two more perfect for one another than the couple. She also added in a few comments and jokes about the newlyweds sex life, which Jenna suspected Kourtney, Cassie, or Ashley (maybe even all of them) had pressured her to add in.

Next was Niall's turn, considering he was the best man. Everyone turned to him as he stood up, pushing his chair back so hard that it fell over. He chuckled darkly and accepted the microphone from Amanda who was eyeing him suspiciously. But everyone that had meet Niall knew that he got drunk often. However, it struck Jenna's mind too late that he was never an angry drunk.

"So," Niall slurred. "I'm the best man at this be-a-utiful wedding." He sounded out the word 'beautiful'. "And I am just so happy to be here. I mean, really, there's not a better way I could think to spend this wonderful April evening than being here tonight. I just love being second to Harry once again."

Harry's head shot up to face Niall, disbelief on his face. Everyone had dropped jaws.

"Niall - " Liam stood up.

"No, I'm not finished with my speech, Liam." Niall waved his hand at him, spilling champagne all over Louis who's temper reared up.

"Watch what you're doing, mate!" Louis cried, grabbing the drink from Niall's hand. This, however, did not affect him at all. He continued with his speech.

"You know, this band has always been so close. Not a lot of spectators have thought so, but we really are. We are like brothers. Almost so much that some of us are in the shadow of other members. I remember the night that Jenna and Harry met. Probably better than either one of them."

"Niall," Harry spoke, his voice threatening. "I don't know where you're going with this, but - "

"I saw this absolutely beautiful girl in the audience that night." Niall cut Harry off. "She was down in the second row. I knew that I was going to have to find her after the show. I told all of my lovely band-mates about the mysterious girl I had seen and that I was going to find her. That she was just breathtaking. They all congratulated me on the find and went back to their business, but I couldn't get her out of my mind. Harry wasn't there. At the time, he had bumped into who is now his wife." Niall paused and took a deep breath and staggered around the stage. He placed a hand on his chin and continued.

"I found which seat she was in and called the stadium for her information. I was going to call her, or show up at her house - I didn't know what yet, but I knew that it was going to be something. I was going to woo that girl and open up her life to a whole new world. I was so excited, just so happy. Little did I know, Harry had run into that girl after the concert. He had gotten her number because he thought she was pretty. Little did I know..."

There was a collective gasp from the entire room. Jenna's eyes grew wide and she looked at Harry.

"So, today I watched one of my best friends marry the love of my life! And I'm not expected to be upset? I'm not allowed to be upset?! I've noticed the way some of you have looked at me today! Do you think I'm stupid!? I don't care if I'm the best man! I don't care if Harry is one of my best friends! That dickhead stole the only woman I've ever loved!"

Harry stood up. "What did you call me!?"

Liam was in front of Harry. "Come on man, he's drunk. He doesn't know what he's saying."

"Jenna Renee Preston, I've loved you since the moment my eyes first saw you. I searched for you. But when I found you, you were gone. I tried my best to wiggle my way into your heart. I tried so hard to let you know that I was the one, Jenna. I tried so hard. But you're too blinded by this bastard to even see how much I love you! To think that you're under the impression that he would ever actually love you! I've always been here for you, Jenna! Always!! Don't you see that!? I'm the only one that actually cares about you!"

With that, Harry lunged at him, only to be knocked down by Liam.

"You don't want to do this, mate." Liam murmured.

Gemma flew out of her chair in a angered whirlwind. "You don't understand, do you, Niall!? Harry is in love with Jenna and it's no one's fault! You don't get to go calling it as you see it, because you're view is warped! Don't you dare talk about my brother like that! Don't you ever!" Gemma shouted, backing Niall into a corner.

With that, all hell broke loose. Guests started to stand up and yell at each other. Dirty comments were being thrown out at Niall, some at Harry, even some at Jenna. The entourage started arguing and trying to get Gemma away from Niall. Amanda and Zayn had disappeared and Jenna was in tears. Liam was trying to drag Niall off the stage and Niall was protesting and spitting dirty words at Harry into the microphone. Cassie was trying to calm down Harry and Louis was making sarcastic comments all the while.

"This has turned out to be such a lovely wedding." Louis said lightly. "I'm so glad that Niall was chosen to be best man."

Finally it all became too much for Jenna and the bride fled the room. Luckily, there was a piano room off to the side that she could run into. Jenna tore through the crowd and flung herself onto the floor of the new room. As soon as she heard the door slam shut she began sobbing ugly, loud sobs. She just wanted this to all go away. Her magical evening was ruined, and now probably her marriage to Harry. Why had Niall gone and done that? Shouldn't he have just told her before when Jenna and Harry had gotten engaged? Couldn't he have just been happy that she was happy?

There was a tentative knock on the door. When she didn't answer, someone came into the room and shut the door softly behind them.

"Jenna, are you alright?" The voice was Cassie's. She sat down next to Jenna. "Is it OK to touch you? Or do you want no bodily contact?" She asked softly. Jenna was known for being touchy and a bit of an introvert. She generally only wanted contact with other people when she initiated it.

However, through her sobs, Jenna shook her head 'yes'. Cassie placed a hand on Jenna's up-facing back and began to pat it while whispering soothing words.

"It's going to be fine, Jenna. You'll see. It's just a little bump in life, it will get better. Gemma has Harry calming down and Louis and Liam are having a nice long talk with a hopefully sobering up Niall."

Jenna still couldn't help but sob helplessly.

"It's alright. Your wedding isn't ruined, it's fine. And Ashley and Kody are calming down the guests. Rather well I might say, they jumped down and started screaming at everyone. That shut people up."

That made Jenna laugh. She could see the two feisty friends of hers jumping down in their good clothes and being menacing to the families of she and Harry and some celebrities that had shown up. Cassie smiled.

"See? Everything's already getting better."

Jenna sat up and wiped her face. "I just feel like everything was ruined. Completely destroyed by Niall. That stupid jackass. "

"Come on, he's one of your best friends. And you know what love feels like. You're in love with Harry, remember? Niall is just desperate. He was trying to be happy for you, but I imagine it was too much this morning and he broke and began to drink. Then the alcohol started to talk. And you definitely know about alcohol talking for you." Cassie gave her a stern look and then chuckled.

Jenna blushed and looked at the floor, quickly breaking eye contact. Everyone of her closest friends knew about her and alcohol talking for her. There had been a night a few years ago when she had gotten a little too drunk at a birthday party. Her friends would never let her live down the things that had occurred that night.

"I do know what it's like." Jenna said.

Cassie gave a small smile and patter her friends back. "You see? You can't be too hard on him. You've been where he was. Sort of."

At this time, Amanda and Zayn had both slipped outside to get away from the havoc. Amanda couldn't take anymore pressure and Zayn thought that it was useless drama. The two stood in silence outside on opposite sides of the doors. After a few minutes Zayn pulled out a cigarette and lit up. Amanda scowled at him.

"What?" He asked, his musky voice impaired by the cigarette in his mouth.

"You really shouldn't smoke. It's bad for you. And doing it around people is bad for their health too. That's really inconsiderate." She scoffed.

"Oh come on, it's my life, my decisions." He gestured with his hands, the cigarette between his fingers.

"Well it's a bad decision." Amanda turned up her nose and flipped her curled, waist-length blond hair over her shoulder.

"You really feel that strongly about it?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Amanda crossed her arms. "I do, you'll do nothing but end up killing yourself and the people around you. And if you don't end up dying, you're killing your vocal cords. Pretty soon you won't have a good enough voice to stay in One Direction."

Zayn's eyes softened. If it were any other girl he would probably blow the smoke in her direction, but this girl was different. She was smart and didn't back down. And she was beautiful on top of all that.

"Alright, then." Zayn said and threw the cigarette on the ground, stomping it out.

"What are you doing?" Amanda asked, in shock, turning towards him.

"I'm going to quit smoking, just for you." Zayn walking over to her.

"Really? What changed your mind?" Amanda's defensive stance fell and her eyebrows raised.

"I'm hoping that under these new circumstances I might get too see you more often." He smiled down at her.

Amanda giggled nervously. "That might work out," She said. "If you do stop smoking."

"I'm one hundred percent done, right now."

"You know what else you need to do?" Amanda asked, raising a single eyebrow.

"What?" Zayn asked, wondering if she was going to be too demanding.

"You need a mint." Amanda said, pulling a mind package out of her purse and popping a mint into his mouth.

The two laughed and began to talk about the world, which, to both of them, was a fascinating place.

"Hey, is everything OK?" Louis opened the door to piano room, only to find Cassie playing and singing to a frazzled, but other wise okay, Jenna. However, Louis couldn't help but take his eyes off of Cassie, who, even after seeing Louis had entered, kept on playing and singing. Her fingers flowed across the keys like a bird taking flight, and her soul was poured into her voice. A warm feeling spread out through Louis' chest.

"Hey, Louis," Jenna stood up and walked over to him. Cassie kept looking up at him and smiling at him. "I'm OK now. Is everything out there settled down?"

Louis had to do a double take. "What? O-oh, yeah. Everything is calming down, you're friends got everyone in their seat and quite." He looked back at Cassie who had switched to a slower, more romantic song.

"Where's Harry at?"

"He went to the main hall to calm down a bit. Gemma and Kourtney are with him, he's safe and sound."

"And- and what about Niall?" Jenna wrapped her arms around herself and looked at the ground.

"Liam has control of him. He's calming down and will probably leave in a bit. Liam doesn't think that it's a good idea for him to stay around. Neither does Harry." Cassie was drawing him over to the piano with her eyes - eyes the color of blue and green at the same time.

"Did any of you have a clue about it, Louis?" She looked up at him, her eyes sad.

"I don't think a one of us had any idea about Niall's feelings, Jenna. He kept them concealed tight. And to be honest, little things about our tours run together. Especially back when we were in very high demand. I don't remember Niall telling us about seeing you in the audience and I doubt that Liam or Zayn remember either."

"OK, I just wondered if I was being clueless."

"No, not the way I see it." Louis looked back over at Cassie.

"Cassie loves to perform." Jenna said, apparently noticing Louis' infatuated look.

"She has a lovely voice." He said.

Cassie smiled at him over her lyrics. When the song was over, Louis spoke up.

"What song was that?" He asked as she walked over to them.

"It was 'Kiss me Slowly' by Parachute." She said, looking up at him with a small smile.

"I would really like it if you would play it for me again, sometime?" He said. "You're very talented... and beautiful." He rubbed the back of his neck and gave a nervous grin.

Jenna smiled and bit her lip, watching the two.

"You're not so bad yourself, handsome." Cassie smirked." What with touring around the world and all your adoring fans and such."

Louis smiled at her.

"Jenna?" Harry opened the door and walked in.

"Harry!" Jenna cried and flew into his arms.

"Are you alright, love?" Harry murmured.

"I'm better." she said. "Are you better?"

Harry took in a deep breath. "I'm better," He breathed. "I still can't believe that this all happened, though. I'll never forgive Niall."

"I forgive him." Jenna pulled out of Harry's arms and said softly, looking into her husbands eyes.

"You do?" Harry asked, confused.

"It's not as simple as him being an asshole. He probably had a lot of feelings bottled up from all the years we've dated and the month we've been engaged. He probably broke and needed to drink this morning. He took it too far and the alcohol started to talk for him."

Cassie, who now had Louis hand around her waist, smirked to herself.

Harry looked down at Jenna, deep into her eyes and felt the hate that was left there, leave. "Alright," He said.

"You can forgive him that easily, Harry?" She gave him a questioning look.

"He is one of my best friends, and when you put it that way, it makes sense."

"What can I say? I have a way with words." Cassie crossed her arms and leaned into Louis, smiling up at him.

Jenna laughed and Harry stood there confused for a moment.

"OK, let's go talk to Niall. He's got to know that he was totally out of line, but that all's OK in the world, now." Jenna said grabbing Harry's hand.

Harry pulled her back. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and our crazy, terrifying friends." Harry chuckled.

"I can't either," Jenna said, smiling.

The two kissed.
