Shattered
Chapter three.
Harry and I cleaned off the tables and put the chairs back up so we could quickly mop the floors.
" My first day was interesting." I sighed. He chuckled.
" It gets worse, don't worry. Tonight was one of our calm nights."
I began cleaning up the mess around the pool table.
" Thank you for giving me this job. It means a lot."
I figured if I didn't look at him, it would be easier to say. He took a minute to respond, as if he wasn't used to being thanked.
" Your welcome I guess?" He said in a questioning way. I rolled my eyes.
" We don't have work tomorrow though right?" I asked, considering tomorrow is Sunday.
" Why the fuck wouldn't we have work tomorrow?" He said, dipping the mop back into the water, before bringing it to the ground again.
" Because it's Sunday. You don't drink on Sundays."
" Uh... Why?" Harry was honestly puzzeled.
" Well, you aren't supposed to drink on God's day" I said obviously.
Harry literally threw back his head in laughter.
" Wow. I thought you were a goody goody, but I didn't think you were that big of one."
I blushed.
He went back to bring the mop back and fourth on the floor, a chuckle escaping his lips everyonce in a while.
" You're so mean." I crossed my arms.
" Yeah, and you are unbelievably annoying and unbelievable. If you were a guy, I would probably beat you up because of how smart and snooty you are."
I went around, throwing trash into a trash bag.
" I'm not snooty! Or annoying! Stop saying that!" I yelled. One day and I already couldn't stand him.
He laughed, as he had gotten the reaction he wanted from me. I blushed, knowing he got under my skin.
" Feisty."
" Whatever Harry. " I clenched the trash bag hard and threw each piece of trash with heavy force into the bag. Harry notice.
" Slow down killer. You're gonna kill it"
" Can you please stop talking" I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. " I've been trying to be nice to you all day but all you keep doing is teasing me and it makes me want to rip your fucking face off!" I yelled.
" I've been teasing you because you wouldn't shut up!" He was getting more serious now.
" I don't know how Marilyn could put up with you. I would have dumped your sorry ass by now."
He shoved the mop back into the yellow water bucket.
" You don't know shit Sydney!" He yelled.
" Why are you screaming at me!" I yelled back.
" Because you're talking shit about me right infront of my face!" He threw his arms out.
" Oh, so you can talk shit about me to me but I can't do it to you? You're a selfish asshole. You can't dish in what you dish out!" I ran my hands through my hair.
" Get. Out." He hissed.
" No, you can't tell me what to do."
• Harry's pov •
"Sydney, I swear to God if you don't get the fuck out I will-"
" You will what? Hurt me? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't hit me."she interrupted me.
She's right. No matter how angry I was at a girl, I would never lay my hands on one. Unless it was for pleasure in bed.
" Get your ass out of here!" I yelled. She dropped the trash bag and I watched her as she stormed out of the pub. That's what she gets. She was being a bitch.
• Sydney's pov •
I ran to my car and slammed the door shut as I stepped in.
I couldnt let him get to me.
tears brimmed in my eyes as him saying I'm annoying and a goody goody and other rude names played over and over in my head.
He had literally been yelling at me like a psycho.
• Harry's pov •
I finally finished shed mopping the fucking floors and picked up the trash bag that Sydney threw to the ground.
She got so pissed so easily. So did I.
I didn't fire her just now and I hope she knows that. I just got upset with her.
Something about Sydney made me hate her so much yet something else drew me close to her, like I have to tease her, because I love doing it.
I don't know how long I sat there thinking about it before I realized it's getting really late.
I turned of all the lights and locked the doors before walking into the warm Sumer night.
As I approached my car I realized that there was another car in the parking lot, which was strange because I'm usually the last one here.
I looked closely to see a girl with her head against the steering wheel, sobbing into it.
Was that Sydney? Why was she crying? And why was she still here?
I walked up to her car and knocked against her window. She jumped, and looked up seeing it was me. She glared at me.
' Roll down the window.' I mouthed.
She pressed the button on her door and made the window roll down.
Her face was red and puffy and stained with tears. She sniffled.
" Syd, why are you still here? Have you been crying?"
She wiped at her face.
" No I'm fine I just...
I made her cry.
" I'm so sorry Sydney I didn't mean to make you cry." I said honestly. She shook her head.
" No really I'm fine it's just allergies."
I laughed.
" I'm not an idiot you know."
she grinned.
" Yeah well, I'm not sure about that..."
" Hey!" I said playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
• Sydey's pov •
I was actually having a decent convorsation with Harry right now. I wonder how long it would last.
" hey, I'm going to get going. Goodbye Harry."
" Goodbye Sydney." My name rolled off his tounge so easily I almost forgot that I was leaving. I snapped out of it, rolling the window back up and pulling out of the parking lot.
