Shattered
Chapter eleven.
• STILL HARRY'S POV •
I checked the clock on the wall. It read 7:24. Where the hell was Sydney?
She should have been here hours ago. I was worried about her.
" What's the hold up on my Beer?" I looked up to see Paul sitting infront of me.
" Sorry. It's coming right up." I muttered.
" You seem distracted." He spoke to me as I filled his glass. Once it was about three quarters full I turned and slid it to him. " Where's blondie?" He asked. I gritted my teeth.
" Blondie has a name. And I don't know. She hasn't come in yet today." I sighed.
" Well, maybe she's sick." He shrugged, sipping his beer through his white mustache.
" maybe," I lied. I knew Sydney. She would have called in by now. She's too much of a goodie goodie to not. She hasn't picked up my calls either. I walked down the bar to the phone we have on the wall.
I dialed Sydney's mom.
" Hello?" She asked as if she'd been expecting a call. I nervously cleared my throaght. I knew her mom doesn't like me.
" Hi, Mrs. Noble? It's Harry." I ran a hand through my hair.
" Oh. Hello Harry." He voice flattened. I ignored it.
" Is everything ok with Sydney? I haven't heard from her today and she never came in to work." I bit my lip.
" Sydney isn't at work?" She questioned. Ok, now I was worried.
" No. She went out last night and I figured she went straight home. So you're saying she's not there either?" My eyebrows furrowed.
" No. She's not."
Chance.
" Shit," I muttered. It just slipped out.
" Pardon?" She questioned. I ignored her.
" You need to call the police. Tell them Sydney is missing." I hung up the phone and rushed to the coat rack for my beanie.
" You going to leave this place unattended?" Paul had obviously been listening in.
" Nope. You are going to take over." I ordered him as I grabbed my things. He sighed, Rolling his eyes and hopped off the barstool.
" You better find her." Paul snapped. I ignored him and rushed out to my car. First stop? Chance's.
•••••
I pulled up infront of Chance's apartment building. It was directly in the middle of town. I slammed my door shut and walked inside and to the elavator.
Most people would have had a plan, but I was just going to go with the flow. The elavator came to a stop and the doors creaked open.
I ran down the hall I his apartment door, room 398, and banged on the door.
For a few moments, I thought he wasn't home. But right when I was about to give up, the door swung open. As soon as I saw Chance in front of me I slammed him up against the wall behind his door. He gulped.
" Where the fuck is she." I hissed, grabbing him by the collar.
" Get... Off me." he spat. That just made me clench his collar tighter and slam him against the wall once again.
" Tell me where she is!" I yelled. he smirked.
" Why do you care?"
" I swear to God Chance-"
" Do you have a crush on your girlfriend's sister? " he snorted.
" No, I don't have a fucking crush on her. I'm worried, because I know you Chance! " I yelled. He laughed. This is what he wanted. He wanted me to freak out.
" If you don't get out of my apartment, I'll call the police." Chance fought. I laughed.
" Good luck trying to reach for your phone from here." I whispered in his ear. " Now tell me, where you are keeping Sydney." I whispered, more calmly into his ear. I knew se wasn't here. Chance was smarter than that.
" I can't tell you. Because I don't know. I left her last night and that was the last time I saw her." He shrugged.
" Did you do anything to her?" I hissed. He shrugged.
" You know, I actually can't remember... I got so wasted-"
" Fucking bull shit Chance. I knew you would do this. I shouldn't have left her alone with you." I said through gritted teeth. He chuckled.
" But you did. Oh the way she twirls her hair around that little finger of hers and how she bites her lip..."
Before I knew it, my fist collided with his face and he fell down the wall, Blood running from his nose.
" I'm going to ask you again. Where did you leave her?" I asked, squatting down. He wiped at his nose.
" Herman's Hill." He choked out. My eyes widened.
" You fucking asshole! You left her on Herman's Hill! " I stood up and kicked him in the gut repeatedly until I got bored and left. I guess my next stop was Herman's Hill.

I parked on the gravel parking lot.
He had to had brought her up here. This is where he used to go parking. I sighed. What do I do from here? Obviously she wasn't here anymore.
Or was she?
I guess It couldn't hurt to try. Better safe than sorry? I got out of my car and began towards the woods. Could he have? Chance definently would have. But I didn't know he was stupid enough to do it to someone I cared about.
Someone I cared about?
No. No I didn't care about Sydney... She was a co-worker. That's why I was worried.
Leafs crunched under my feet as I hiked through the woods.
I was was about to turn around when I saw a ring on the ground. It wasn't under or dug into any dirt yet so it had to have just been dropped.
I bent down and picked up the ring with a diamond heart on it. Yes. I remember Sydney Wearing this. I liked to watched her hands as they pulled down the lever to fill up a glass of beer or whiskey.
I've seen this on one of her fingers before. That means she has to be around here somewhere. Wow. Chance stooped to a new level.

One more try.
I told myself. One more try at my eyelids.
And it was a miracle. Because my eyes slowly squinted open.
My vision was blurry. Where was I? I blinked, clearing my vision to see tree tops above me. Was I in the woods?
Ouch. My body ached. So badly. Especially my legs. It was an ache I've never felt before. My head pounded. I slowly shut my eyes again.
• Harry's pov •
I walked farther into the woods.
What at I saw next broke my heart, yet sent relief through my body.
" Sydney!" I gasped. I rushed towards her body laying in a ditch.
She was lifeless. I checked her pulse. Thank God she was still alive and breathing.
I picked her up bridal style and came back the way I came.
" Sydney? Syd? Can you hear me?" I asked her. She stirred in my arms slowly.
" N-Noht ah-ahgain," she breathed. It probably took all of her energy to say that.
Not again what?
I put her in the passenger seat and buckled her in.
