Second Chances

*Zayn’s POV*

"Be my girlfriend?"

Ana looks at me with appalled eyes.

“Nobody will ever approve of us.” She whispers.

“Nobody but us needs to know, I just need you." I beg.

Ana’s face becomes worried.

“Fuck what anybody thinks. All the matters is just me, you, and our baby.” I finally say.

Ana smiles at her and her body relaxes.

“Okay.” She murmurs.

“Really?” I ask again.

“Yes. I want to be happy. And you make me happy.” She says.

Ana kisses me.

I couldn’t be any happier.

It’s been about a month since Ana and I have been a couple.

Ana’s mom has welcomed me but I know she’s still kind of sketchy about me.

I told my own mom about Ana being pregnant.

She was like me the way I reacted.

She didn’t want to believe it.

But I told her we were going to keep our child.

Mom understood, but she forced me to go get a job.

I have to move out when I graduate.

I guess it will do me good.

Ana and I haven’t gotten shit from anyone in school.

No one tells us anything.

Harry keeps his distance and no one has seen Kat.

Harry doesn’t even show up to our practices anymore.

But then again, me and the lads haven’t practiced at all.

I give all my attention to Ana.

Ana is scheduled for her second doctor’s appointment on Monday.

I have to work.

Ana’s mom won’t be able to make it and my mom is out of town.

I can’t call in because my job is short staffed.

I don’t want Ana to go alone because I need to be there.

She’s about four months but I still want to be at her checkup.

“I’m ready to go.” Ana tells me on the phone.

I’m driving to her house to take her to her appointment.

Then I have to go to work.

“I’m almost there. Come wait outside.” I tell her.

I pull up to her house and she climbs in the passenger seat.

Her bump is showing more and she looks really healthy.

“Hello love.” I greet her.

“Hello.” She returns with a quick kiss.

“I wish you were coming with me.” She pouts.

“Me too. Don’t remind me.”

Our ride to the maternity clinic is quick and calm.

My hand rested on her belly the entire time.

I pull into the clinic and help Ana out the car.

“Good luck.” I say kissing her again.

“Bye Zayn.” Ana laughs.

“Your mom is going to pick you up right?” I ask.

“Yes.”

“Okay. Bye Ana.”

I watch her as she walks through the doors and up to the receptionist.

I then get back in my car and start my way to work.

“Ana is going to be okay.” I say to myself.

“She is going to be okay.” I repeat.

*Ana’s POV*

“Miss Jardine. It’s good to see you again. Come on back.” Dr. Thames welcomes me.

I smile and follow Dr. Thames as he leads me to a room.

“Are we by ourselves today?” he asks seeing that nobody is with me.

“Unfortunately.” I mutter.

Dr. Thames begins setting up his tools and paperwork.

“Okay. It’s going to be the same as the last time. You’re going to put the gown on and then I’ll do another ultrasound.” He informs me.

Dr. Thames steps out the room and I quickly change into the gown.

I really need Zayn here.

I sit on the elevated chair waiting for the doctor to come back in.

“Are we okay in here?” Dr. Thames asks knocking on the door.

“Yes.”

He steps in and immediately gets to work.

The chair reclines back and I am lifted farther in the air.

Dr. Thames grabs the probe and wipes it.

He does the same as last time by spreading the freezing gel over my belly.

He waves the wand over my belly and I watch the monitor flicker to life.

“So uh. Are you still going through on an adoption?” Dr. Thames awkwardly asks.

“No. Zayn and I are going to keep our child.”

“Zayn? The gentlemen from last time?” he asks still looking at the screen.

“Yes sir.”

Dr. Thames doesn’t reply back.

“Well. That’s a good thing.” He finally says.

“Yeah. Zayn really wanted this. More than what I did actually.” I say.

Dr. Thames nods his head.

“Um, Anastasia.” The doctor calls me after a few minutes.

“Yes?” I say picking my head up.

“You and Zayn aren’t having a child.”

“What do you mean?” I say panicking.

“You two are having children.”

“Children?”

“Yes. You’re having twins Anastasia.” Dr. Thames states.
