Through The Dark

I felt so worthless the next morning. I couldn't help Kendall, I couldn't warn her or protect her.

My body physically wouldn't let me and my mind erased the thought of helping her every time it came to my mind.

Harry hasn't fed off of me in days so he must have been using Kendall this entire time.

God, what a jerk. Using her like this.

I don't know why I felt so strongly about protecting her it's just that she seems nice, and she reminds me of my friends back home. Girls got to stick together, and I've got to help her somehow.

I could see the daylight peaking through the curtains. I turned my body over so I was now facing Niall's bed. He was sound asleep like a baby.

It was so cute, he was like a little angel. His perfect skin tone with his light blonde hair and the way he breathed so softly. If things weren't so crazy right now, I'd consider getting up and going to lay with him.

But I knew I couldn't do that. I didn't want to take any risks on ruining the greatest friendship that I've had since I've been here, imprisoned.

I pulled my phone off of the night stand and saw that it was 9 o'clock. The boys probably had some press stuff that they would have to do today, so I should get a shower before Niall wakes up.

I grabbed some clothes out of my suitcase and quietly snuck into the bathroom so I wouldn't wake sleepy Niall.

I've already put him through hell enough last night so I owed it to him to let him sleep for as long as possible.

I got a warm shower and then changed into my clothes for the day. When I got out of the bathroom, with my wet hair up in a towel and no make up on, Niall was awake on the edge of his bed watching television.

In just his...boxers?

He looked over when he saw me and instantly smiled while stretching his arms out.

"Goodmorning, Brooklyn, how ya feeling?" he asked me in a caring manner.

See, that was the difference between Harry and Niall. I always knew Niall cared and never knew if Harry cared enough.

"I'm alright I guess. Not going to lie, I didn't think you would be up yet to see me like...this," I said as I motioned towards my make up free face and wet hair. I laughed lightly and dug through my suitcase for some things that I would need for today.

Niall laughed slightly too and scratched the back of his neck.

"Please Brooklyn, your natural beauty is perf-" Niall started to say but caught himself. That must have slipped, ooops on his part.

I blushed and tried to hide my smile. He looked completely embarrassed as he got to his feet.

"What I mean to say Brooklyn is..." he started to say but I stopped him.

"Why don't you get a shower now Niall," I said in a playful tone as I handed him a towel. I better change the topic before he says anything else that will embarrass him.

He shook his head slightly with a cheeky grin on his face as he obeyed.

Oh, Niall.

After we were both done getting ready, Zayn called us and told us we all had to meet in the lobby ASAP because they had an interview to go to.

I haven't heard anything from Harry or Kendall since last night, but I assumed they would both be there as well. And as we entered the lobby, I realized I was correct.

As soon as Kendall saw me, her face lit up and she ran over to me.

"Brooklyn!" she slightly shouted like we were best friends and pulled me in for a hug.

"Hi Kendall," I tried to say in my best cheery voice.

"I'm so glad you'll be at the interview too, I would be so bored if..." Kendall was saying but I stopped paying attention and looked over her shoulder as she kept talking.

Harry was watching us while talking to some of the crew members and I could see that he saw me looking at him as well. I quickly snapped back to the reality of Kendall's non-stop conversation.

I shook my head as I pretended to know what she was talking about. It's not that I didn't care or that I didn't want to be friends with her, I just was too focused on Harry and it drove me crazy.

Correction, HE drives me crazy.

Then he came behind Kendall and grabbed her elbow. She jumped at his sudden appearance.

"Hey baby," he whispered into her ear but obviously wanted me to hear," can we get a little alone time before we leave?" he said and she blushed. I acted like I wasn't paying attention but I sooo was.

I knew what he meant by 'alone time'. He needed to feed his needs, and there was nothing I could do about it. He was just trying to prove his power and control to me.

Kendall giggled, "sure, i'll be right back Brooklyn," she said as she started to lead the way to another room.

Harry smirked just as his eyes shot up to me. But I saw him, he looked at me as if I was what he really wanted but couldn't have. And that could never be more truer.

The bite marks on Kendall's neck and wrist were clearly visible to me, how did no one else notice them? Not even the paparazzi? Her parents?

I watched Harry and Kendall enter the separate room and I could feel myself glaring. I wasn't going to let him do this, I was going to fight this trance he had on me, I was going to save Kendall no matter what.

But first, I need to do something.

I found my feet taking me over straight to Niall, of course.

He looked happy to see me but a bit surprised.

"Hey, Brooklyn, what's-" he started to say but I interrupted.

"Please, Ni, I need your help," I said pleadingly and grabbed his hand.

His eyes immediately filled with concern and then realization.

There was only one way to stop Harry, and we both knew how.
