Baby It's Cold Outside

Two

"Hey, Grandma!" I smiled when she opened the door.
"Oh. Hello Sarah." She turned and walked deeper into the house.
"Well, I, umm... Grandpa!" I smiled wider when he popped into view.
"Sarah!" Well at least he sounded happier. "How are you?" He embraced me.
"I'm fine, how about you?"
"Splendid! Did you hear? It might snow tonight!" He pulled away and pointed to the giant movie screen that was currently projecting the weather channel.
"Oh, well I'll make sure to leave before so I don't get snowed in."
"Don't you like it here?" He asked.
"Stop the Gerald. Don't bother her when she wants to leave." Grandma snapped."Sarah, dinner is ready, please come in here."
"Yes Grandma." I obediently walked into the dinning room.

"This is great." I complimented, eating a bite of whatever it is she made.
"Yes, isn't it? It's moose heart stuffed with bread crumbs, seasons, and garlic." I slowly set my fork down, swallowing some water.
"I for one think it's repulsive. To think about at least, however delicious it is." Grandpa pushed his plate away from him.
"Gerald. So, Sarah, how is your home life?" She finished her moose heart.
"Well, Mom's doing great." I said, but immediately got cut off by a cough from her."I'm thinking of going to college?" I offered.
"Oh, wonderful dear."
"I got a job. I'm working in a little shop-"
"Wonderful dear. I'm sorry, but I can't look at you, or take you seriously dressed like that." She handed me an envelope. "Here is your Christmas present, yours not your mothers don't share, now please leave. Your sluttyness is bothering me." She waved her napkin in front of her face.
"Of course Grandma." I backed out of the room and grabbed my jacket, fishing my phone from the pocket. I dialed.

"Yeah?"
"Um, hey, I'm ready. Can you come and... get me please?" My voice broke and cracked as tears leaked from my eyes.
"Yeah, I'll be right there just wait outside, give me two minutes, maybe less." He said in one breath and hung up.

almost done with the ride home and not a word had been spoken. Louis would give me side glances, and sigh once in a while.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He finally asked.
"Not now." I looked out the window.
"Are you sure? Cause I've been told I'm a great listener."
"Grandpa's changed, like, he's nicer, and happier."
"That's go-"
"Grandma called me a slut."
"She did what now?!"
"Oh look, Mom's waiting!" I spring out of the car before it stops and throw myself up the steps. "Mom, I'm home!" I yell as I pass her and sprint up to my room.
"Are you gonna tell me about it?"
"Later!" I slam my door closed and lock it. I strip my clothes and go to the little bathroom in my room.
"Sarah" Louis yells, pounding on my door.
"I'm showering Lou!" I turned the water on and sat on the edge of the carpet.
"Hurry up!"
"I'm going!"
"Now!"
"Don't rush me!"
"Please!"
"I don't wanna!"
"Go!"
"No!"
"Sarah!"
"I shan't!"
"Oh nuh-uh! You did not!"
"Oh I did! And listen as I play my music!" I stood up and walked to my I-Home, playing 'Little Talks' by Of Monsters And Men.
"No!"
"Oh yes!"
"I'll bust down this door!"
"You can't I'm not decent!"
"Well get decent!"
"I'm gonna shower!" I went back to the bathroom and hoped in the water, pulling the curtain across.
"You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
All that's left is the ghost of you.
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart,
There's nothing we can do
Just let me go we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me
Please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep" I sang along with the music. I know I can't sing, but it's not stopping me from blessing the world with broken ear drums.
"Hey!" I sang with the music.
"Don't listen to a word I say" Louis sang from the hall.
"Hey!" I sang, quieter this time.
"The screams all sound the same"
"Hey!" I barely whispered.
"Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore" He sand strongly while I might as well have mouthed the words I was so quiet.
"Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!" We both sang together.
"Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore" Louis finished alone.

"Well, I see you do like my music after all." I mused.
"Eh, it's ok."
"You should sing more often, you're great."
"I only sing for a few people."
"Such as?"
"You..." I turned the water off and reached for a towel.
"Oh, I'm sure you've sung for other people too." I walked out and picked through the mess of clothes I made earlier.
"Not that I can think of. Are you gonna open this door?"
"Eventually." I pulled on some clothes so I was covered and grabbed a jacket before opening the door.
"Oh thank go- Is that my hoodie?"
"So what if it is?" I slid it on.
"I've been looking everywhere for that." He followed me downstairs into the living room with my mom. She held in her hands the contents of the envelope Grandma had given me.
"Mom?"
"Your grandmother gave you this?"
"Yes?"
"Sarah... There's a lot of money here." She showed me the paper.
"Whoa." Louis breathed from behind me.
"I think she made a mistake." I took the money and put it back in the envelope, shoving it in my pocket.
"Wai- where are you going?"
"To give it back." I took my keys off the hook and went out the door, Louis on my heels.
"Want me to drive?"
"No, I'm fine."
"Do you want me to come with?" I silently pointed to the passenger side. "Ok. Wow this is really bothering you isn't it."
"My Grandma would never give me this kind of money, and she would never tel me no to share it unless she has something specific in mind, or if she wants to set my mom up for something." I started the truck and sped down the road, determination set across my face. I hit a curb and flew off the ground for a split second, crashing back down to the roadway and continuing on.
"Oh my god, slow down!" He clung to the handle, fear in his eyes and sweat on his forehead.
"I wanna get there before it snows." the truck rocketed down the empty streets, never touching below seventy miles per hour. "Other wise you and I will be staying in a hotel."
"Not that tat's a bad thing." He muttered.
"What." I cut a corner.
"Nothing."
