Secrets and Regrets (Larry Stylinson AU)

Prologue

The sun pierces through my eyelids, forcing me awake. I reach to the side, and find that the space Louis normally occupies is empty, and cold. A flash of worry crosses my mind, but I push it away. The lad most likely woke up early for a cup of tea or a snack, nothing to worry about.
I look over to the side table, and see the clock reads 10:24 a.m. Time to get up. My arms unwillingly push my body upward from the bed, and my body screams with little needles of pain, sore. Without another thought, I head downstairs.
The floor is cold beneath my bare feet and I shiver. It isn’t like Louis to leave the heater off. He usually is the one to get chilly before me. I open the refrigerator, and a wave of cold air blows into my face. Good morning to you too, geez. The house is silent. Maybe Louis went to work early today. I wouldn’t doubt it, he gets called in quite often. Though he has been a bit under the weather the past week or so, so maybe he shouldn’t be taking all these shifts. He’s always too proud to admit he’s feeling 100 percent.
I decide to grab a banana off the counter instead of getting something from the refrigerator that I would have to heat up. Much less energy expended. Within a short period of time I finish the fruit, and head upstairs to take a shower.
The water is hot and makes my sore muscles feel so much better. I reach for a shampoo, grabbing mine this time instead of Louis’. I lather it up in my thick brown curly hair, making sure I get every bit of it. After the water washes the chemical away, I apply conditioner, and then rinse it out. I hum as I do this, smiling to myself. I can’t wait for Louis to get home. Finally comes the body wash, the scent reaching my nose, a sharp, clean smell. Louis’ favorite. I make sure to get every possible inch I can get before letting the shower head wash it away. Shutting the water off, I dry myself and then head back into the bedroom. I pull on a pair of gray Topman boxers- most likely Louis’, dark wash jeans, and a white v-neck t-shirt.
Phone, phone, I need my phone. Where did I put it? I look around. Right, on the bedside table like always. Silly me. Though there is paper on top of the electronic. A love note from Louis. I smile, and open it.
Dearest Harry,
By the time you get this, I will already be gone. Something’s come up, and… I can’t be with you. I’m so sorry I couldn’t tell you in person. I tried, but your beautiful green eyes always stopped me. So does your smile. I don’t ever want to break it. However, this is something that I have to do, and… I think that it will be for the better in the long run. Someday I will come back and you can love me again, but I do not know when that day will be. I love you, with everything I have.
Always,
Louis xx
The paper falls from my hand, and I feel myself falling as well.
