One Direction Imagines/One Shots
Harry One Shot
“Just look at her, mate.” I whistle as I watch her sway her hips to the music. My smile fades only when I see her wrap her arms around the douchebag. I refuse to address him by name, that’s how much of a douchebag he is.
It’s another late Friday night at Club Sync with my boys, it’s a tradition. But they all know the real reason I come every night, and it’s not for the discount pretzel bites. It’s for Jade. Jade and I are friends, yes, but God what I would do to be more than friends.
“Harry, why are you so hung up on this chick?” Niall slings his arm around my shoulder, already working on his 5th Budweiser. I pull away, his beer-breath hot on my face.
“She’s perfect! She’s fit, and smart, and sweet, isn’t she?” he wasn’t looking at her. He was eyeing the bodacious blonde at the bar. I walk over to Louis, chatting with Liam, and take a seat next to them.
“How’s Jade, I saw you stalking her from over there.” Louis teases, passing me a beer. I scoff, but I know it’s true. Jade is someone I could never have. Seeing her with Douchebag just makes it even more unbearable.
“It should be me dancing with her, not that moron with the buzz cut.” I’m bitter, to say the least. She’s wearing a tight red mini dress that hugs in all the right places, but she still looks classy and innocent. She’s a fucking walking paradox.
“I’ll help you out, pal. Hey, Jade! Over here!” Liam calls, waving his hand in the air. I cringe and wish I could disappear. She notices, smiles, and walks towards us.
“Fucking shit, Liam.” I curse under my breath. She’s heading our way, her brilliant smile directed at me. Not far behind, Douchebag is following her. Great.
“Harry, Louis, Liam, hey guys!” Her voice sounds like angels singing, dear god. Louis and Liam small talk with her, then quickly make an exit, leaving the two of us alone.
“How’ve you been, Harry?” I open my mouth to answer, but I’m quickly interrupted.
“Who’s this, sweetie?” Douchebag’s voice is possessive, and his hand is squeezing at Jade’s shoulder. She looks uncomfortable and shoots me an apologetic look.
“It’s Harry Styles, babe. You’ve met him, remember?” I shift in my seat, unsure of what I should do in this situation.
“Can’t say I do. Come back to the dance floor with me.” I don’t like the way he commands her, it fills my chest with rage, but I keep my mouth shut. Douchebag is at least twice my size, there’s no way I could take him. Jade whispers something in his ear that I can’t hear, and he nods, heading off to the other end of the bar.
“What was that all about?” I ask, curious. She laughs, and my heart lurches at the sound.
“Oh I just told him if he went off to his buddies so I could catch up with you I would make it worthwhile.” My stomach ties into knots just at the thought of her making anything “worthwhile” for him. She rests on the stool next to me, swiveling back and forth, smiling at me. I grin back, happy to finally be alone with her.
“I haven’t gotten to speak to you in such a long time, how are things?” I ask, honestly curious as to how her life is going. I want to make sure she’s happy. Her smile fades, and she signs lightly.
“They’ve been okay, but you know how Ryan can get. He can be….difficult.” I let out a sarcastic chuckle without thinking, and a surprise look appears on her face.
“You deserve so much better than him, Jade.” She smiles at me sadly.
“Well, there are not a lot of good guys out there; Ryan can be a good guy. Sometimes.” I want to scream ‘I’M A GOOD GUY, WHAT ABOUT ME?’, but I just nod in agreement. I could give her so much more than he ever could, I could be everything she ever wants. But she’ll never see that.
“Wanna step outside, it’s stuffy in here, isn’t it?” I ask, standing up and reaching out for her hand. She takes it and I lead her out through the front doors. The crisp London air is chilly, and I quickly shrug off my jacket and put it over her shoulders. as I’m slipping it onto her, I see dark blue bruises under the straps of her dress. There are some that look older, and others that look brand-new. I have a guess on where they came from. She looks up at me, smiling, and for a moment our eyes lock. Her deep ocean blue eyes look hopeful and happy, but I can see through to how sad she really is.
“Jade, does Ryan ever…hurt you?” Her eyes flash with fear, and that is answer for me enough. My breathing gets heavy just imagining him ever putting his hands on her in anger. Our faces are dangerously close, and I can feel her breath on my cheeks.
“What the hell is going on here?” Douchebag’s voice is booming, and it makes me jump as far back as I can. Jade starts to stutter, trying to explain, but he cuts her off, and yanks her to the side, away from me. I watch from where I stand, holding back the urge to jump in and intervene. Douchebag is gripping onto her shoulder, and I can see the pain in her eyes. It’s killing me.
I almost start to walk away, but then he starts to shake her while screaming in her face. Hell no. I run over to where they’re standing, and grab his fist that’s half way in the air, about to come down and slam into Jade’s face. My strength surprises me and I’m able to stop him. Douchebag turns to me with furious eyes, turning his anger onto me.
“Woah, mate. That’s enough. Step away from the lady.” I say, trying to stay calm. I may be smaller than him, but there’s no way I’m letting him lay a finger on her. He drops his fist and turns his attention to me as Jade quickly backs away from the scene. He looks like some kind of raged animal, nostrils flaring, face as red as a tomato.
“I’m not looking to fight, just step back.” I say firmly. I’m about to get my ass kicked in front of the girl of my dreams. Great. Douchebag’s fists get ready to slam into my face, and I stand tall. I’ll take whatever he has to throw at me if it means nothing happens to Jade. I brace myself, but seconds before he hits me, Zayn, Louis, Liam, and Niall run up. grabbing his arms, holding Douchebag back. My boys. I let out a sigh of relief and quickly move out of way. The boys had apparently called Club security and they were on their way to handle Douchebag.
Now that that situation is under control, my eyes search for Jade. She’s standing off in the corner, my jacket still slung over her shoulders. I hurry over to make sure she’s okay, and she flings herself onto me before I can say anything.
“I told you, you deserve so much better than him.” I rub her back, comforting her. I could love her so much more than he ever could. I just wish she knew.
“I know I do, Harry. I wish I had someone better. But I don’t, and he’s all I’ve got.” I pull back so that we’re face to face.
“Jade, you have me. You’ve always had me. You don’t need him, and he will never treat you the way I could. I could love you the right way.” I put my hands on her cheeks, waiting for her reply.
“You love me?” I stare down into her eyes, the eyes of the girl I’ve loved for so long, and I know.
“I’ve always loved you, Jade.”
