Half A Heart
Chapter Seventeen
“Hey, man. Can I talk to you?” I asked, pulling Niall off to the side.
“Yeah, what's up?” I took a deep breath and pulled the tiny diamond ring out of my pocket and showed it to him. “Look, man... I know we're friends and all... I love you like a brother, but wouldn't Melody be a bit upset? And I'm kinda dating--”
“Thank God.” Niall sighed in relief. “Are you just gonna pop the question on her?”
“No, I learned from last time that it doesn't work that way. I have to see if she's ready.”
“They leave tomorrow to go back home. You're gonna have to find out fast.”
“I know... I've got a plan.” I shrugged and put the ring back in my pocket. “But you can't tell a soul about this. No one. Not even Quin.”
“I get it.” He shrugged and walked back to the stage to finish rehearsals.
Quin's POV
“This has been really nice.” I sighed as I leaned closer into Niall's chest. We were sitting on the balcony of his hotel room and had the absolute perfect view of the city's lights. It was gorgeous. “Thank you for flying me out to see you.”
“It was all my pleasure.” I could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke before leaning down and kissing my cheek softly. “Thank you for coming out.”
“You know you don't even have to ask if you want me out for a weekend like this. Just send me a ticket and--”
“Liam's proposing to Melody again.”
“What!? Did he not learn from last time!? Oh my god, I swear on my life if they break up again, I'm moving out. I can't handle hearing her whine about how much she misses Liam again. No. Not doing it. He's going to get his heart br--”
“Okay, let's just get back to the lovely view.”
“No! Don't think you can get out of this conversation. I need to rant a little bit at least. Now, if he gets his heart broken again, how is he going to cope this time? He barely did last time and--”
“I love you.”
“What?”
“I love you.” My heart was beating a million miles a minute.
“That's no fair.”
“What?” Niall raised an eyebrow as I turned to face him.
“I wanted to say it first.” I poked my bottom lip out in a pout as Niall chuckled and tucked some of my curly hair behind my ear before leaning down and kissing me gently.
Melody's POV
“You don't have to leave.” Liam whined from the bed as I packed my bags for my flight the next day.
“You know I do.” I sighed as I grabbed my shirts from one of the drawer and stuffed them into my suitcase. “I'm still a full time student and I still have classes to go to.”
“Have you ever thought about maybe taking online classes?” I sighed and leaned against the dresser to face Liam. He was now sitting on the edge of the bed, hunched over with his phone in hand. I assumed he was on twitter.
“I would if my scholarship covered online classes and travel the world with you, but it would be just like it is now. I'd stay in the hotels all the time trying to finish my homework on time and it'd be really stressful.”
“You know if you just married me it would be much simpler.” Liam shrugged and looked up from his phone. I smiled and shook my head.
“Even if I did marry you I would still go to school.” I turned to finish packing my clothes. “I wouldn't mooch off my husband.” I turned back and winked at Liam as a small smile spread over his lips.
“So what you're saying is that you'd marry me?”
“Of course I would.” I shrugged and leaned against the dresser again. “Why wouldn't I?” Liam opened his mouth to answer me, but I cut him off. “Don't answer that.”
“We should get married.”
“Name a time and place and I'll be there to say 'I do'.” Liam's eyes seemed to light up as I spoke.
“Well there's a little wedding chapel about thirty minutes away from here. I'll give you my card, go get yourself a gorgeous wedding dress and meet me there. We'll get married tonight.”
“As romantic as that sounds,” I laughed and pushed myself off the dresser and sat next to him on the bed. “I'm a girl. I've been planning my wedding since I came out of the womb.”
“Okay, well then... a year. We'll get married in a year.”
“That sounds perfect.” I smiled and pecked his lips.
“So we're engaged, then.”
“I don't exactly remember you pulling out a ring and asking.” I leaned back on my elbows.“I guess you're right.” Liam shrugged and stood up off the bed and reaching into his pocket, pulling out a small diamond ring. “Melody Belle Scott, will you marry me?” I sat up straight and watched as Liam got down on one knee and held the ring between his two fingers.Notes
