Half A Heart
Chapter Thirteen
I adjusted my duffle bag on my shoulder as I fished in my purse for my keys to Quin and I’s apartment. Just as I got the keys into the doorknob, Quin yanked the door open and blocked my way in. “Are you guys back together?”
“I’ve miss you, too.” I rolled my eyes and tried to push past her.
“No, no, no. You tell me now… are you two back together?”
“Why do you care?” I groaned and adjusted the heavy bag once more. “Just let me in and I’ll tell you. I promise.”
“No!”
“What?”
“You’re not stepping foot into this apartment unless you guys are back together. Now march your happy ass back downstairs and go back to Liam’s apartment and get your shit together!”
I rolled my eyes at my friend and stepped around her, letting myself in. “I’ll be in my room unpacking.”
“I told you not to—“
“Step foot in here unless we were back together. I heard you.”
“Wait… are you?”
“I never said.” I shrugged.
“So he left it up to you on whether you should get back together?”
“No, I never said if we were or not to you. Keep up, Q. You’re losing your touch.” I smiled at my best friend’s offended expression.
“Hey, babe. Where do you want me to set your bag?” I looked up as my boyfriend walked into the apartment and smiled.
“Just set it in my room.” Liam walked past me and gave me a swift kiss on the cheek before walking into my room.
“So… you are?” I took a deep breath as Liam walked back into the room and slung his arm around my shoulder.
“What are we talking about?” He asked as I casually leaned into his side, propping myself up on his side.
“Oh for God’s sake! Someone just tell me if you’re back together!”
“Sugarscape knew before we even decided.” I shrugged as I watched her eyes dart to her laptop. “Go ahead.” I sighed and she dove for the electronic device. Her fingers moved across that keyboard faster than the night she realized she had a fifteen page essay due the next day.

PRAISE THE HEAVENS. MELIAM IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER
No we’re not planning the biggest and bestest wedding of all time. What are you talking about? Though, don’t check our search history… it may involve wedding dresses, cakes, and venues… but definitely not related to the SHIP WE’VE BEEN WANTING BACK FOR MONTHS.
Our favorite ginger (Sorry Ed) was seen walking into the Paynis’s apartment last week, and we decided to do a little bit of twitter stalking—er, research—to find out for certain what was going on.
Melody’s best friend a.k.a. Niall Horan’s lady friend (we’ll talk about them a later article. This is strictly Meliam business)—Quin—tweeted about finally having the apartment to herself while friends worked things out.
Not too much earlier today, Liam and Melody were seen putting her stuff into Paynis’s car and then—wait for it—EXCHANGED A SMOOTCH. Hold us! Our hearts can’t handle this.
Is anyone else as excited about this as we are?! Let us know!

Quin stood up from the couch and looked at the two of us before running over and wrapping us in a big hug. “Oh my God! I told Niall it would happen! I knew it would! I didn’t doubt you guys for a second!”
“Okay, Q.” Liam said and tried to push her off of us.
“Only Melody can call me that.” She scolded and reattached herself to us and took in a deep breath. “That settles it. We’re all going out to celebrate. On me!” I rolled my eyes as she grabbed her purse and Liam and I followed her out the door. She stopped mid stride and held up her hand. “Wait!” My odd best friend yelled looking back at us. “We should probably do this when I don’t have a world politics exam to study for.”
“Is that tomorrow?” I asked suddenly remembering that I was a full time university student.
Quin nodded her curly head, “Yep and Dr. Graham swears it’s the worse exam of the semester.”
“Oh shit,” I gasped. “I need to study!” I yelled. I still wasn’t sure why I hadn’t dropped the class yet. Quin didn’t want to take it alone and all of her pre-law major friends weren’t taking it so she made me join her. On the plus side it could be helpful in the music industry someday.
“So we aren’t going to celebrate?” Liam asked as Quin and I walked back into our flat.
I shook my head, “Not today. It’s officially cram time.”
Quin gave a firm nod, “I’ll get the tissues.”
“I’ll grab the blankets.”
“One of us has to call Domino’s for the pizza.”
Liam shook his head in confusion. “Tissues, blankets, pizza?” He asked clearly not understanding our ritual.
Quin sighed, “The tissues are for when we realize we don’t know any of it and break down.”
“The blankets are to hide under when we want to escape the real world.” I explained.
“And the pizza is our comfort food, duh!" The dark brown eyes of my best friend rolled as she continued out of the living room.
Liam chuckled, “Well, it sounds like you have a full night ahead.” I shrugged. “I’m going to go so you can study.”
“Are you sure?” I questioned. As much as fun as the past week had been. I didn’t do anything productive which happened a lot when Liam and I were together.
He nodded, “I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” He kissed my forehead before walking out of the flat. I frowned momentarily before turning and going into the hall. We needed those blankets if we were going to get through this night.

Liam’s P.O.V
Two hours after leaving Mel’s, I was at Zayn’s place with him and Louis. We were basically slumming around playing video games and having a few beers.
“So you’re back together with Melody?” Louis questioned after he lost his turn and had to pass over the controller. I nodded too focused on the game to speak. “But you’re not engaged?” My head shook as I dodged a stray bullet. GTA was intense and Zayn played more than the rest of us. “How is this relationship going to work out?” Louis asked as if it was a maths equation.
“I- Shit!” I cursed as my player died and Zayn laughed proudly. “Louis you distracted me!” He held up his hands. “What do you mean how is it going to work? It’s just like before only I won’t make the mistake of proposing again anytime soon.” I added with a shrug.
“Do you think maybe you two just aren’t meant to be together?” Zayn asked hesitantly, but I was on the defense and snapped at him.“Do you think maybe Perrie mentions you in interviews so much to boost her group’s popularity?” Louis winced as Zayn held up his hands with a hard face. My anger faded as I gave a heavy sigh. “I’m sorry, man. I just, I talked to my mum earlier and she went on and on about how she’s not sure about Melody.”
“Have they actually met?” Louis asked. I leaned back on the couch shaking my head.
“They have to meet if you want your mum to like her.” Zayn advised.
I knew that, but I was worried. “My mum’s kind of bias. She still talks to Danielle.”
“Don’t tell Melody that.” Louis muttered. My eyes rolled as I tried to ignore him. The Bradford lad did have a point. If Melody would have said yes all those months ago, she would have had to meet my mum. So why not now? I had decided. We were going to take a trip to my old home. My mum would love her once she met her.
