Summer '13
❤ Chapter One ❤
***Mia's POV***
"Flight 36 to London is boarding now," the airplane attendant announced.
"Well that's me," I said, standing up from my uncomfortable position on the hard seat. I suddenly felt two pair of arms attached to my legs. Phoebe and Daisy.
"You guys better be good for mum," I said to them, awkwardly trying to hug them. I gave a quick hug to Felicite and Lottie.
Then I turned to mum, who had tears in her eyes.
"What am I going to do without you Mia? First Louis, then you!" She sobbed, engulfing me in a tight hug.
"It's just for the summer, mum. I'll be back in no time. I really need to see Louis," I murmured softly.
"Last call for flight 36," the loudspeaker crackled.
"I have to go. But I'll call you as soon as I land!" I promised, as I made my way to the long line to board, waving one last time before I entered the jetway.
///
I peered out the window, at the small town of Doncaster as it whizzed by. I didn't really need to take a plane but mum insisted because of the icy roads.
"Please buckle your seat belts because we are about to take off," the pilot commanded over the loudspeaker. The only noise was the clink of belts and the loud whirrs of the engine.
I watched as the plane lifted off the ground, leaving the only place I've known behind as it got higher and higher up into the sky.
///
"Mia!" A voice shouted. Before I knew it I was being lifted up into the air, dropping my purse in the process as I was twirled around.
"Louis, I'm so glad to see you!" I squealed, wrapping my arms around his waist. I inhaled the familiar scent of cinnamon and mint, and smiled. As we walked to our car after going to baggage claim, he talked my ear off the entire time. He asked how mum and the siblings were, how school was, etc.
I noticed two big, burly looking men trailing behind us.
"Body guards," he whispered sheepishly, when he noticed my expression. Oh yeah. I still never got used to the fact that my older brother, Louis Tomlinson, was in a world famous boy band otherwise known as One Direction.
It took forever to get to the car because fans kept stopping us and asking for Louis's autograph.
How could he stand it? Everything was so overwhelming, the flash of the cameras, the numerous hands being shoved in your face and the loud squeals of excitement. And this was only a small crowd. I watched his concerts on the telly and they were massive.
I watched in admiration as Louis took it all very calmly, and just kept smiling.
Finally we were in the black minivan, on our way to Louis's flat he shared with another band mate of his.
"So who do you live with?" I asked curiously, playing with my freshly manicured fingernails.
"Harry," he replied.
Harry Styles. The worlds heartthrob and probably the most famous guy on the planet. I saw him literally everywhere.
The car came to a stop in front of a flat. My mouth dropped open in awe.
"Is that…" I began.
"Yup! The Beatles rented it," Louis said proudly.
Bloody hell.
///
"Haz! Mia's here!" Louis shouted, after he had thrown my stuff on the sofa.
I heard some thumping and a groan.
The curly haired boy stood in the doorway, his perfect features twisting into a sneer. He was wearing a waffle knit grey sweater and black skinny jeans, with the pointiest boots I've ever seen on a guy.
I met Harry once at a Christmas party, and I didn't really care for him. He was a little arrogant and self-centered, if you asked me.
"You remember Mia, right?" Louis asked, clearing his throat a little too loudly.
"Sure, sure," he said, dismissing me with a wave as he shoved one of my bags off the couch to sit down.
I scowled, already feeling annoyed.
"Just give him some time to come around, Mia. He really is a good lad," Louis whispered.
Yeah, right.
