Blowing Kisses

**Liam's POV**
"Hey Liam. Uh..I need you. Please call. I really...really need you. I love you. Bye"
I wish I could see her again. Hearing her say 'I love you' makes me want to see her more. I hear her voice cracking, probably because she was crying. And when she blows the kiss into the phone, it reminds me of when we were kids. I wish I had the courage to tell her 'I love you.' and that 'I want her to be in my arms.' But I couldn't.

“Liam?”
“Hey. It’s me.”
“Li! I’m so glad you called! Me and Sherri are ok now.But Carol hates me.”
“Oh…”
“But me and her should sort it out soon.”
“...”
“Liam you ok, babe?”
“Yeah.. uh, Penelope?”
“That’s my name, Li. What do you need?”
“When you said you love me in that voicemail… did it mean anything to you?”
“Well, yeah. I do love you.”
“Like...love me, love me?”
“Haha, sure.”
“No, Penelope, this is serious. Do you love me? A-As a bit more than a friend.”
‘Uh… yeah I love you like a best friend.”
I hated how she was avoiding my question. She knew what I meant.
“Penelope. I love you, like a girlfriend. Please, come back to London.” The line went quiet. I could tell she was still there.
“Liam… I don’t know how to respond to that. I like us as friends, but-”
“N-No its ok. Let’s pretend I never said that-”
“Well, Liam, you’ve already said it. I can’t ignore it now. Hey, I gotta go. I’ll, uh… call you later. Ok?”
I sighed. “Ok.” I finally replied.

**Penelope’s POV**
Now the tables have turned. As I try to get in touch with Carol, Liam tries to get in touch with me.
“I love you, like a girlfriend.” Repeat in my head. I had gotten a huge lump in my throat when he said it. I now avoided all of his calls.
