Halloween

Staying in class all day, with nothing to do gave me a serious hunger for some Halloween gore. I tried not to remember about what Harry said. The question is, are you ready to look into the eyes of the Beast?

His secret place had me intrigued all day. I wonder why he doesn't go to school with me and Cara.

When I walked in the house, I followed my normal routine. I threw my book-bag on the table. Homework's for later, and ran up to my room. I quickly changed out of my Mary Janes for school and threw on a pair of Converse, leaving the knee-high socks and plaid skirt to deal with later. I traded my button-up for a white V-neck and ran down the stairs. I need to be gone before they get here!

I grabbed my bag and left the house as quickly as I came, locking the door behind me.

Care, will your parents let you take the car?
I grabbed my phone from my bag's side pocket and sent a quick message to Cara.

Mom says only cus it's you lol where are you? We gotta be quick.Even though Cara got her license last year, she didn't have good enough grades for her parents to buy her a car and she's saving all the money from her part time job for additional college funds.

I'm at the gas station right down the street from my house. Speedway.
I sat my bag down next to the pole, breathing heavily. Maybe I should have tried harder in gym. Yeah... that would've helped...

Okay. Be there in... less than 10.
I decided I was going to play Candy Crush until she pulled up. See what I mean? Perfect, suburban, boring life. Then, he decided to show up.

I had almost beat my high score when a shadow fell over my iPhone. I looked up at him. I imagine I looked weird, too. My tongue hung out the side of my mouth, my fingers poised over the keys of my iPhone, and underneath my skin, my blood boiled, making my face tinge red.

Why is he here?

I paused my game and put my phone away before standing up from the crouch I had fallen into.

"What do you want, Harry?" I asked, hoping my disdain was plain in my tone.

"Are you coming tonight?" He asked, tightening his grip on the black bag on his shoulder.

"Maybe. Why?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Just asking. See, I told Abrexius about you and he keeps asking when he's going to meet you. Hopefully, that's tonight." I bunched my eyebrows together. Who the hell is Abrexius?

"Who's-" I started to say but then, a shiny, silver Explorer swerved around the corner and stopped in front of us.

"Get in, Til-" Cara looked Harry up and down. From his mop of dark hair to the Jordan's adorning his feet. "Who's this?" Usually, I'd have answered and gotten in the car. But I can't just leave the conversation. Not now that he's got me interested so, I gave her the perfect reply.

"This is Harry. Now, shut up a second, Care." I looked back at Harry. "Who's Abrexius?" He took one look between me and Cara and leaned close to my ear.

"He's my demon." And then, he left. He really, seriously, effing left! And there I was, standing in front of Speedway with my mouth hanging open.

"I don't know what he said to you, Tilly, but we gotta go! Mom wants the car back, asap." Even though I was still thoroughly shocked, I grabbed my bag and climbed in the Explorer.

"So, when'd you meet this Harry kid?" Cara asked, hands placed at two and four, eyes firmly on the road.

"Youth group. Yesterday."

And then she said, "Maybe I need to join a youth group. Especially if there's hotties like him there," which was definitely enough to snap me out of my shock.

"Gross! Care, that's disgusting!" I screeched, hoping that, on some level, she was joking.

"You only say that because you don't like him. What were you talking about anyway?" Her eyes darted to me before focusing back on the asphalt ahead of us.

"He wants me to meet him at sun down." I said, forgetting to with hold information, but at least I didn't lie. I just didn't tell the whole truth.

"Do it!" She said, bouncing in her seat as she pulled into her driveway.

"But-"

"Look, you said you wanted danger and excitement and all that! Well, one look at this Harry kid and I can already tell he isn't normal. This is your only chance to make things more interesting. Plus, he's cute!" I rolled my eyes, about to argue with her and say how I didn't like him, especially not like that but then, her words sunk in. Harry was my ticket to danger and excitement! He was my ticket to change!

"Fine. I hate it when you're right." I mumbled, getting out of the car.

"But we have to cherish those moments because they don't come often." She gave me a cheesy smile and followed suit. I rolled my eyes again as we made our way through her front room, where I left my bag and into the kitchen. I grabbed a pack of crackers and left the major snacks to her as I went to hunt for my favorite movie of all time. Halloween.

I didn't even get to enjoy Michael slashing his sister and his asshole of a stepfather because darkness fell.

"You gotta go, Til. Don't think I won't know if you skip out and don't show." She said, her body stuffed from all the snacks she ate. She laid across the couch in a way that put her stomach on display.

"Fine. I'll be back soon." I grabbed my phone and slipped it down the front of my shirt seeing as I had no pockets. I slipped through the front door, glad that Cara's dad was out on business and her mom was fast asleep, thanks to a cup of tea and a Lunesta. Once I was outside, I jogged a few blocks, trying to find Sycamore street. It was in Cara's division. When I found the street, I slowed to a walk, trying to find the house but it was unnecessary. Harry had picked the weirdest house on the block. The Hilton house.

The Hilton legend was that the entire family went out one day and when they came back, they were murdered. It's said that they haunt the house, to this day. It's beautiful white paint had dulled to a dirty tan and there were busted windows and overgrown vegetation all over it. It definitely didn't hold as much splendor as it once had. I took a deep breath and prepared to walk up to the house, just when I'd heard sirens.
