Stole My Heart

I stood there in complete shock, not quite sure what to do next. Heather threw herself at Louis and kissed him then started jumping up and down. Nina's hand flew over her mouth and Sarah was speechless.

"Well... what do you think?" Liam asked us.

"It's great!" Sarah said after a while, then running over to give them all hugs.

"Don't worry about expenses, we'll take care of that." Niall said quickly as I started to shake my head and the smile disappeared from my face. "There are only eight beds on a tour bus so we figured that two of you would stay on the One Direction bus, and the other two would go on the 5 Seconds of Summer bus."

"I call the One Direction bus!" Heather shouted instantly.

"We just have to finish working out the other arrangements, but we should be ready to go on Wednesday." Luke finished.

I frowned and continued to shake my head. "Niall, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked.

"Sure," he replied a bit confused.

I grabbed his arm and started walking away from the others. Once we couldn’t see the others I stopped and took Niall’s other hand.

“Is everything all right?” he asked concerned.

I sighed. “Niall… I can’t-” I started.

“Sure you can. Don’t worry about anything. Like we said, we’re taking care of everything. It’ll be great I-“

“Niall, I can’t. I can’t go with you.” I stated firmly.

The smile instantly left his face. “What do you mean?”

“Well, first of all, even if I wanted to go I probably couldn’t. My parents would not allow me to go around the world for eight months with anyone – let alone people that they have only met once.”

“What do you mean by even if you wanted to? Do you not want to go?” he questioned confused.

“Of course I want to go… it’s just that I can’t go running off with someone that I haven’t even known for a month!” I said.

“Why not? You trust me don’t you? You know that I only want what’s best for you.” He replied, trying to convince me.

“Yes, I know that.” I said getting exasperated. “But I have a job you know… and a family… and I need to start applying for colleges –”

“Laurel, I can’t bear to leave you behind. I thought about you the entire time that I was away. I can’t go through that again.”

“Niall, but you have to understand what I’m saying.” I began.

“Didn’t you think about me at all while I was gone? I thought that my heart would break at the thought of being away from you any longer!” He snapped.

“Niall, just listen. I’ve known you for what – two weeks? I can’t exactly just leave everything and go away for eight months.” I stated, raising my voice a bit.

“Seventeen. Seventeen days Laurel. I’ve known you for seventeen days and you’ve been on my mind the whole time. Don’t you care?”

“Of course I do, but it’s not that simple. If you’d just let me explain-“

“Can’t you just forget about everything?” he pleaded, his voice beginning to get louder.

“Niall, I can’t just put my life on hold for over half a year-“ I started, trying to control my rising anger.

“I love you Laurel but it’s obvious you didn’t miss me at all! Did you even think about me once while we were gone?” he said, this time his voice echoing.

“I cried myself to sleep at night thinking about you! Every night I’d sit there and wait for my phone to ring, to hear your voice again telling me that you’ll come back soon. I thought that my heart would break if I had to wait any longer. So don’t you dare, Niall Horan, don’t you dare say that I didn’t miss you at all!” I yelled, turning around and storming off.
