Feeling Safe With Danger
Chapter 4
As soon as I reached my house, I called one of my closest friends, Amelia.
“Hey, girl. What’s up? Lola texted me about what happened to you at the party last night. I hope you’re okay!”
“I’m not.” I said abruptly. She must have texted her before Andrew found me at my workplace. The silence following my statement assured me of the Amelia’s shock. I’m not one to share my true feelings. I could almost feel her plotting through the phone.
“You’re going to come over to my house tonight. We’ll watch the Proposal, munch on excessively greasy popcorn, and eat as much junk food as possible. I’ll invite the rest of the girls, okay?” I smiled at her words. I needed this: A girls night in.
“I’ll be over at seven.” I confirmed.
“Perfect. Looking forward to it! Love you!” Click.
------------Later on that day-----------
“Vana?” My mom knocked on the door.
“Hmmm?” I pealed my gaze away from tumblr.
“Can you get the mail for me, please?” She asked calmly before leaving me alone in my room.
I grabbed my phone before getting up from my bed. As I walked towards the stairs I dropped my phone, only to pick it up seconds later and place it in my back pocket, hoping it would stay secure. I ran down the stairs, grabbing the keys from where I previously placed them on the table. I glanced at the clock. It was six thirty, about time time to make my way over to Amelia’s. I walked outside, it was starting to get dark. Right as I was placing the key into the mailbox, I heard a car door slam. I flinched at the noise, still jumpy from my previous encounter with Andrew. I decided to hold onto the shred of hope that it was just one of my neighbors and did not look up. I started to hear approaching footsteps, so I grabbed the mail, before swiftly turning to find myself slamming into a warm body, a male body. The impact caused me to fall back a bit, and his firm hand grabbed me before I could fall on my butt. I refused to look up at the person.
At first, I was scared it was Andrew, but then I realized this man’s hand was warm, Andrew’s was cold. This man smelled intoxicatingly good. Andrew reaked of cigarette smoke. I cautiously glanced up to meet gleaming green eyes. A smirk graced Harry’s face, as I let out a soft whimper. His eyes glanced down my top.
That was it. I had enough. My hand, that wasn’t holding mail, met his cheek at an impossibly fast speed. His head jerked to the side. He quickly looked back at me, it was still light enough outside to see that his cheek was brilliant red. I instantly let out a shriek when his hand tightened around my waist.
“Why’d you do that?” He growled at me.
“You’re touching me, and you looked down my shirt! I’m not blind.”
His frown turned to a smirk. “I was only trying to help you before your clumsy butt hit the ground.” His words angered me. He was the reason, not my clumsiness, that I almost fell.
Before I could say anything else, he beat me to it.
“As for looking down your shirt, you’re incredibly attractive. How could I not look?” He winked as he pulled me in tighter. I let out a groan before shoving myself away from him.
“Vana-” I let out a gasp, cutting him off before saying anything. How’d he know my name? Surely, he didn’t remember me from high school. I started to blush when I realized that I had told Andrew my name, and Andrew had talked with Harry afterwards. I shuttered at the thought of them talking about me.
“Please stop following me, Harry.” I pleaded as I brushed passed him towards my house.
“Baby, you and I both know that we’ll be seeing each other again.”
I stopped in my tracks without turning to face him. “Don’t ever call me baby, I’m not your baby.”
“Okay, whatever you say,..............baby.” It’s like I could feel him pulling his stupid smirk.
“Ugh!” I heard him lightly chuckle at my own expense as I ran into my house, locking the door behind me.
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, I decided to call Amelia.
“Hey! You still coming over?”
“Yeah, I was just wondering if you could pick me up? I don’t want to walk alone in the dark.”
“Sure thing. Everything ok?”
“Just a bit shaken up from everything.”
“Okay. Stay put, I’ll be over in a few minutes. See ya soon!” She hung up.
I let out a sigh of relief, I didn’t have to worry about having to walk by myself with Harry on my tracks.
My mind quickly replayed what had happened a few minutes ago. I placed my hand on my waist, where Harry’s hand had been. I could still feel his warmth, my skin beginning to tingle.
I shook my head before muttering “I hate him and his impossibly green eyes”
However, despite my words, my mind began to race over the features of his face. Surprisingly, he was quite beautiful. His smile was alluring, a little playful and mysterious. His body wasn’t too shabby either. He had great muscle tone, and the way he smelle-. Stop. No. I couldn’t be thinking like this. He’s dangerous, no matter how attractive he is, he’s nothing but danger. But I wondered what he thought of me, and why is it that he followed me.
His words burned in my mind, “You’re incredibly attractive, how could I not look?” Did he actually think I was attractive?
Awesome story. Will wait for ur update :)
