Thief

II. Unfinished Business

Dressed it tight black pants, a white tank top, my leather jacket and black studded boots I’m crouching outside Adam’s house under the hedge bushes. My hair’s tied off to the side in a wavy low pony tail, stray pieces falling around my face. Dark red lipstick shows off my full lips. The cool summer night breeze feels good against my warm skin.

The ground smells moist and earthy, I can hear a cricket chirping. The pine needles smell dewy, and they have been poking me for the last hour. Making me itch nervously and extra impatient.

I stop my breathing, as I see Adam’s car being pulled into the drive way. The head lights shut off. The driver’s door slowly comes ajar and the douchebag himself, climbs out. Chatting on his phone he lazily shuts the door and stumbles a bit towards the house. In a couple seconds he’s in the house, lights are flicked on then off as he moves through the house, finally making his way to the bedroom where the lights linger on.

“Come on,” I breath out impatiently as I look at my phone for the time.

Three a.m.

I have been sitting here for an hour, contemplating why I am doing this.

Because this guy is a fucking idiot that’s why.

Stealing his car seems like a logical thing to do, its my revenge. Maybe he shouldn’t have been such a prick. And also the fact that taking his beloved Audi R8, would completely crush him.

I couldn’t help but smirk.

Plus, the fact that I could drive that car, kinda made me hot in a weird way. Fast cars that just purr, who knew.

Meeeeow.

Glancing up at the three story house, or more like mansion, Adam’s bedroom light finally flicked off. It had to be close to four by now, and I was so ready to do this.

I creep from my spot by the bushes to the side of the garage where his car is parked in front of.

All the security cameras happen to be pointing in the opposite direction from the car, but one.

I grab the can of spray paint that I brought along, and reach around the corner of the garage, and aim it onto the camera lens. Covering all of it. I toss the can back into my bag, and peer into the street. I can see lights coming up.

I patiently wait for a car to pass. It goes by, my heart doubles in beats.

Here’s my chance.

I scamper quickly to the shiny black beast, sparking in the moon light. Just like a black diamond.

A diamond meant for me to take.

My eyes take in its design in awe.

“Hello beautiful,” I say as I gingerly slide my hand across the hood as I make my way over to the driver’s door. I try the handle. Won’t budge, no surprise there.

Pulling out the thin silver metal slim jim, from the inside of my jacket. I press it against the window and push in down into the crack between the glass and the rubber barrier. Making a slight scraping noise. I slide it down quickly, and pull it to the right I yank it up hard.

Click.

Smirking, I pop open the door, and place my head onto the floor mat under the steering wheel, in seconds I have the panel off and the wires hanging down. Using my teeth I strip the plastic off the wires exposing the copper. I slip on my protective gloves, and connect two wires, then I strip the remaining two and lightly touch them together.

Vrooom, the beast purrs to life.

“Here we go,” I whisper in satisfaction as I tape off the wires and replace the cover. I slip into the drivers seat toss my hair to the side and gently shut the door. Shifting the black jewel into reverse, I glide it slowly off the brick paved driveway onto the black pavement of the street.

Smiling like an idiot, I push the stick into first, and pull off. My hearts pounding, I can feel blood rushing through my body. I love this feeling. Chuckling, I think to my self, I actually took his car.

Now what am I going to do with it.

I could jump out and drive it off a cliff.

No. I mean that would probably bring him to tears, but not what I’m looking for. Plus that could somehow could get traced back to me.

I zoom past the sixth block in his neighborhood, glancing in the review mirror I notice a blue box in the back. I shift my eyes from the mirror to the back seat, a case of beer. Filled with empty bottles. He must have been drinking tonight...Brilliant.

An idea sparks in my head, and a quickly pull a u-turn and drive back towards Adam’s street.

Oh how pissed his parents are going to be.

I gradually pull back up to his house, checking to make sure all the lights are still off. I softly drive up the bricked pavement, but instead of going back to where his car was parked, I verge right and head towards the fountain with baby angels spewing water from their mouths. As I make impact, a crunching noise is heard.

Shit.

I glance up at the house, not a stir.

A sigh of relief escapes my lips, as I swiftly hop out the car leaving the door open I grab the box of beers and carelessly toss them around the car and a few on the dash board.
I dump the rest into the crushed fountain, and make a dash for the bushes. Looking back, it looks exactly how I want it to.

Audi propped up onto the fountain, angel baby’s face cracked, water leaking in odd places, and beer bottles scattered. Looks like Adam had one to many, his parents were going to flip.

Cheekily I admire my work. I grab my bag and head out back towards my bike that I stashed behind the neighbors garbage cans.

Mission accomplished.
