The Exchange

Another Perspective

Alyssa's Point of View

"I think you guys lost something," I dragged Harry by his arm and walked him into his room where the other four sat drinking and playing video games. When they saw me they stopped to look at each other and giggled. They're such weird drunks.

"Sorry Lys, he wouldn't stop talking about you," Louis said, taking Harry from me and setting him on his bed.

"I was not talking about her! You guys were forcing information from me!"

If Harry told them anything I swear to God I won't talk to him anymore. How could he do that? If anyone finds out we've been seeing each other I may never see him again. My face began to burn so I took that opportunity to leave. When the boys started talking again I quietly walked out and closed the door. It's late, midnight to be exact but I don't think I can sleep right now; the couch is still waiting.

I slowly crept down the stairs and peeked through my parents door. They're both drunk and for the first time I'm grateful. As much as I dislike Harry right now I don't want him to get in trouble.

My date with the couch wasn't going so well, "sorry dude, I had to take care of some business."

I laughed to myself as I patted the arm rest, I'm going crazy. Did I really just talk to my couch?

The credits were rolling after Transformers and Transformers II was coming on next; shocker. I'm really not a tv kinda girl though. I like to read and write, not sit in front of the tv and get fat. I guess technically you can get fat by sitting and reading all day; but at least it makes me feel productive.

My arms stretched out wide and I yawned as I rolled my neck in circles, letting it crack. I picked up the leftover milk which now contained tiny particles of oreos and poured it down the drain, watching the creamy liquid escape. When there was only a light shade of white taking up the sides of the glass I set it down in the sink and turned the hot water on high to watch it flow over the cup. I leaned my elbows on the counter top and fit my chin into my palms, watching the water steam. It was mesmerizing watching the water come out of a small hole. I wonder how much pressure is needed to force the water through.

"Oh, sorry," I turned around quickly to see Liam flicking the kitchen lights on with two empty bowls in his hands. I realized my boxer shorts are much too short for me to be sticking my body out as I watched the water.

I straightened quickly and shut the water off, pulling my shorts down, "oh, it's fine. I can take those."

Liam handed me the bowls but looked at me differently than he ever has before. It was a similar look Harry gives me; kind and caring; as if he didn't know anything about my past and what I've done....or what him and the rest of the school thinks I did.

He opened the trashcan for me and I dumped the remainder popcorn and chips into the trashcan, still searching his eyes. He's drunk, definitely drunk, but it's still nice to have someone besides Harry look at me like that.

"Oh, sorry about earlier, we didn't really know Harry left the room."

I chuckled as Liam's face turned red, "it's fine. My parents were just getting home and I didn't want them to see him drunk."

"Oh," he said quickly. I heard a small thump from upstairs causing me to roll my eyes at whatever they could be doing. We both looked up before Liam continued, "and Alyssa? Sorry for never befriending you. We all feel awful, you've always seemed nice and I don't know why we left you out."

I raised my eyebrows, "I've never been a nice girl Liam. I never gave anyone a chance to be my friend; it isn't your fault." I guess they could have asked me to hang out. Liam and I did do a project together and we seemed to get along but after that I became invisible again. I hopped on the counter hoping our conversation will go a little longer. It's actually really nice talking to someone else; even if he is drunk.

He scanned me up and down, maybe this isn't a good idea, "sorry, I'm just--I never really looked at--"

I cut him off and hopped down before we had the chance to have a normal conversation, "it's okay, let's go back upstairs before devil one and two get home."

He looked at me curiously as we walked back up the stairs. I explained to him a small extent of my half sisters before we ended up in front of Harry's room. Liam listened and added a few oh's and ah's. Before he had another chance to speak I walked back down the hall to my room and shut the door, locking it behind me. I stared at my bed from my location near the door and my mind wandered.

What the hell just happened? Harry has always looked at me like that but now Liam? Yes, he is drunk, but I never expected anyone else to look at me that way. I'll have to be around his friends more often. I laughed to myself again as I realized I was speaking out loud--to my bed.

I flipped over finding myself bumping into something; into someone. I looked around, thanking the gods above that it's my room. I looked again seeing a few tattooed limbs sticking out from under my covers. How did he end up in here? I stood up quickly and made sure my door was locked. It's only seven so I still have some time to get him back to his room before his friends or my family wakes up. I'm going to have to get that key back from Harry; he just can't unlock my door whenever he pleases.

Before I nudged into him I moved a few curls that crowded his eyes and kissed him on the cheek. I could smell the dull alcohol on his breath and I scrunched my nose away from the smell of old beer. Beer is probably one of the worst smelling alcoholic beverages I've ever encountered and I don't like waking up to it. He could've at least brushed his teeth first.

Wait, why the hell is he in here anyways? I sat up slowly, making sure I won't get too dizzy from waking too quickly, and dangled my legs from my bed. My phone lit up, a snap chat from Marilyn; this can't be good. When I opened my phone I noticed I had a text from Liam. How his contact name got in my phone is a mystery to me.

From: Liam 3:33 am
Hey it's Liam. i think Hazz went to ur room....sorry

I ignored the text, yes he is in my room, and opened Marilyn's snapchat cautiously.

"God Marilyn!" I released my thumb from the screen so I didn't have to look at her boobs anymore and laughed quietly, hoping not to wake up sleeping beauty.

"Uh, Alyssa?"

Shit.

"Yeah?" It's just Niall I think.

"We're heading out. I don't really know where Harry is so..."

I opened my door, not really caring what he thinks about my wardrobe or hair for that matter, so he could see Harry laying down in my bed behind me, "it's not what you think, I promise."

Niall raised his eyebrows and chuckled as the others walked by slowly, whistling and winking at me. I thought hangovers prevented you from any sort of contact with people until at least noon.

"You know he wouldn't stop talking about you last night, it was quite annoying," I crossed my arms and rolled my lips under my teeth.

"Maybe if you guys didn't pester him about me," Niall laughed as he pulled out his phone looking at some text. After responding he looked to me again,

"Look, we know there's something between the two of you but we won't say anything. We won't even bring it up but you have to relax. You have no idea how bad he wants to 'hold your hand in public'," Niall used his fingers to quote the air, "and 'kiss you passionately'."

"I'm guessing Harry was the only one piss drunk last night?" They must have gotten him really drunk to get answers.

Both of us turned as we heard Harry call my name, "thanks Niall, really." He nodded, winked, and hopped down the stairs. He made me feel a little better but I don't think he understands how bad this really could turn out to be.

"Alyssa?"

Harry's Point of View

Liam came back in and I saw Alyssa walking back to her room, "what did you do?!" I whined towards Liam. He raised his right eyebrow the way he always does when he's curious, "I just saw you with Alyssa!"

He laughed and closed the door behind him, "she was in the kitchen when I took the bowls downstairs. Don't worry Harry, I wouldn't take your girl from you."

He sat back down in front of the television screen and picked up a controller. I miss her, I miss seeing Alyssa. I shouldn't have told her we can't hang out anymore; I didn't really mean it the way it came across.

"I should go talk to her," I said trying to stand up straight. Again, the mates weren't paying attention to me so I grabbed the key to her room and found my way under her sheets. I let my hand run down her shoulder until I hit her waist and debated pulling her close to me. I want to hold her and kiss her so badly but she's asleep and I can't wake up my angel while she's sleeping. I whispered 'I love you' and watched her sleep as long as I could until my eyes wouldn't stay open any longer.

"Alyssa?" A petite figure sat in front of me and rubbed my back. I feel like I just got hit by a truck but I'm glad she's here to take care of me.

"You should go back to your room Harry," or not. I thought she'd get me some advil or play with my hair.

"Can't I lay here with you? What time is it?"

"It's seven. You're right though, we can't be around each other."

She pulled her covers off of me, forcing me to grab my knees and hold myself into a little ball. I'm not only cold but it's morning which equals morning wood when I see Alyssa.

"Seriously?" she laughed. Damn, I didn't think she'd notice.

I smiled flirtatiously, "you could make it feel better if you want to," the smile left her face. She really does want me to get out. "Can I at least let it die down? I don't want to walk back to my room like this."

She sighed, releasing her hair from her messy, sexy bun on top of her head.

"And stop doing that! You're turning me on!" I'm sure she rolled her eyes but mine hurt, I really don't want to try to open them any more than I have to.

"Okay, let's go Harry," she pulled my arms away from my knees and made me stand. I can't believe she won't let me just sleep for a few hours.

She laid me down in my bed and my hangover forced me back to sleep. I don't like this at all but she seems fine; almost like this 'break up' doesn't matter to her.
