Deciphering dreams

As I stepped out of my warm truck, I could feel the blast of the cold December air. I was walking into the fire station office where I volunteer. Then right before I got to the door my sister popped up.“AHHH!” I screamed as I took a step back, tripping on my own foot and falling on my butt.I could see the other volunteers laughing inside the building. They all thought I had Schizophrenia. A condition to where I had delusions or “imaginary friends” as my doctor would call it. But I knew I didn’t. I was seeing my dead little sister…
*FLASHBACK *
We were all sitting in the car heading back from dinner after celebrating my 17 birthday. All laughing and having fun. When I saw a man on the side of the road. I looked at my dad in the rearview mirror and saw him worry, while speeding up, but that didn’t help what was about to come. The man then shot at the car popping the back left tire. My sister and I both crying not knowing what was going on. Then more shots fired. I look up to see both my parents’ dead. Blood slowly seeping out of the back of their sculls. Then the man opened the back door and shot my sister. He grabbed me by the arm and yanked me onto the cold pavement. He picked me up and started running before I saw flashing lights and sirens. He dropped me and ran off. That’s the last thing I remember before blacking out.
*END OF FLASH BACK*
I was shaken from my thoughts as my sister caught my attention. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you I just wanted to say hey” she said softly. Its ok I replied, still hearing the other laugh in the background. “Well I’ll see you later. She said a vanished. I quickly got up and walked inside. “What did your little sister scare you?” Samantha said in a mocking tone. She’s always made fun of me ever since someone leaked info about my “condition”. No I replied sternly. I walked over to my desk and sat there until the day was over and it was time to head home. I walked outside and stepped into my truck and drove home quietly humming along to the radio.
