Harry's POV:
"I had a dream about him last night," Lex said. We've been in the room with Thomas for about an hour now, watching him sleep. I guess Thomas's mom has been getting food, but wound up needing Lex's parents help. Lex and I were sitting in the chairs that faced Thomas's bed with Gail sprawled across our laps, also asleep. She was brushing her fingers through Gail's hair and laying her head on my shoulder.
"You did?"
"Well, at first it was about you. But you took me to this place, this field of grass. Then, there were fireflies flying everywhere. There had to be thousands of them."
I wrapped my arm around her, "That sounds incredible."
"Then Tommy showed up, in the middle of a firefly tornado. It sure was beautiful."
"Firefly tornado? Sounds dangerous," I brought slight humor into the conversation.
"Sounds like a new Sharknado movie, huh?" she giggled. "But no, it wasn't dangerous. They were only flying around him and he just looked...happy."
I kissed her on the head and sat with her until she fell asleep on my shoulder. I had been fighting back my tears and being strong for her, but a few minutes after she fell asleep, I couldn't take it anymore. This is terrible, for Tommy to be in this position. I hid my face in my hands, trying hard to keep my sniffles quiet.
"Harry?" I lifted my head to see Jenny walking into the room with a bunch of sodas. "Are you okay?"
I wiped my nose, "Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Sorry."
"You don't have to apologize," she set the drinks down on a table and knelt down in front of me. "Harry, it's okay to feel what you're feeling. It's a lot to take in."
I only nodded my head to her and wiped my face clean of tears. I wasn't quite sure what to say in that moment.
Lex's dad walked in soon after, followed by a woman. Both of them were carrying bags of food.
"Harry, this is my sister Lisa," Jenny placed her hands on Lisa's shoulders.
I would've stood up, but Lex was fast asleep on my shoulder and Gail's legs were in my lap. "Nice to meet you Lisa. Your son is a tough little guy."
"Thank you," she placed her hand on her chest. She laughed a little bit. "When they told me Harry Styles was in my son's room, I didn't believe them."
"I didn't believe them either," I joked. Stupid joke, but she and Lex's parents laughed.
Lex's dad walked over and stood by me, "I never got to properly introduce myself, I'm Walter." He stuck his hand out, which I happily shook. "I can see both of my girls have taken a liking in you."
"Well good, because I like them too," I smiled at both of the sleeping girls.
"I got you guys some lunch," Lisa handed me a bag. "I hope you like chili dogs."
"I love them, thank you," I gratefully excepted the food. She didn't have to get me anything, but then again I was hungry. But don't worry, I have a gift for her in mind.
Lex's dream:
I'm in some long boring grey hallway wearing a banana yellow ball gown, pacing with my hands on my hips. All I can hear is the sound of my silver heels clicking against the cold floor. But wait, I can hear another sound. It sounds like someone is running.
I turned my head towards the sound and sure enough, it was Harry, and he was running towards me fast.
"Harry wha-" I was interrupted by him grabbing my wrist and dragging me behind him. "Harry, why are we running? I thought you were meeting the queen."
"I may have done something to piss her off," he shot me a funny smile but continued dragging me with him.
"What did you do?" I growled.
"I got you a present," he winked at me. I noticed he was wearing some sort of satchel. Must be where my present is. We ran down a set of stairs to the bottom floor of the castle.
My feet began to ache from my heels, they're definitely not running shoes. "Harry, my heels."
"Here, I'll hold them," he stopped running and held his hand out. I quickly removed my heels and placed them into his hands.
"THEY ARE DOWNSTAIRS!!!" Harry and I's heads whipped towards the source of those words. Very angry guards were pointing down at us from up the stairs. "BLOCK THE EXITS!"
Guards began coming out from everywhere, blocking every door and window, as well as circling around us. I winked at Harry.
"Help! This man is trying to hurt me!" I cried.
A guard stepped towards me, reaching his hand out for me, "It's gonna be okay, Miss."
I sniffled, "You're so sweet." Then I growled as I grabbed the guard's hand and threw him to the floor, holding his arm behind his back. "But not very bright." I twisted his arm, making him scream in pain.
Harry took my heels and used them as weapons, hitting guards across the face with them. More guys began charging towards us, and what do we do? We did one of those cool action things where we lock arms, back-to-back, and he lifts me up so I can kick guards down. I can still kick ass, even if I am barefoot and in a dress. Then, I'd lean forward and lift him up so he could kick the guards that were on his side.
We wound up unlinking arms since a guard hit Harry across the face. I quickly grabbed one of my heels from Harry and charged at the guard. I took my heel and I slammed it into that guy's sensitive parts. He deserved that and so much more for hitting Harry. How dare he.
Harry chuckled and grabbed my hand, "Come on!" We ran towards the castle door which was now unguarded, thanks to us. When we got out, we were suddenly running along the shore of a beach. We laughed as we ran towards a dock that was holding a sailboat. We jumped onto the boat and in a flash, we were sailing on the blue-green ocean water.
Harry's eye was already purple from being hit. I placed my hands on his face and brought his head closer to mine so I could gently kiss his eye.
Afterwards, he pulled away and stuck his hand into his satchel. "This is for you, my Queen." He held the queen's crown in his hands.
"Oh Harry," I gasped. The crown was exquisite, I loved it. I beamed at him as he placed the crown on my head. "Harry, my charming boy, you are truly the most daring boy I've met."
He made a 'tsk' sound with his tongue and winked before placing a kiss on my forehead. Before long, we found ourselves holding each other and watching the waves.
Lexington's POV:
When I woke up, Harry wasn't there anymore. He had replaced his body with my dad's.
"Hey Honey," he rubbed my arm. "Are you hungry? We have chili dogs."
"Sure," I rubbed my eyes. "Where's Harry?"
My dad handed me a bag, along with a soda. "He had a concert to get ready for. He said he'd be back though."
"Oh, okay." I didn't even know he had a concert today. Then again, we've been busy, so I never really thought to ask.
"I'm not sure how I feel about him, Lexie," he sighed.
"What? Why?" I said with a mouthful of chili dog.
"At least cover your mouth if you're going to talk with food in it," he chuckled. I apologized to him. "Honey, he's a famous singer. That's ten times worse than being with one of those 'bad boys.'"
"No it's not," I pouted.
He sighed again, "Not only could he hurt you, but his fans could. His whole world could."
I turned away from him, not wanting to talk about it anymore. I just quietly ate more of my chili dog.
"I don't want you hanging out with this guy but I know that regardless of what I say, you will do what you want."
"Very true," I muttered under my breath. This is not a conversation I feel like having at the moment, or ever.
My dad wrapped his arm around me, "I just don't want to see you hurt."
"If he hurts me, I'll hurt him. Simple as that," I said before slurping my soda.
"I've taught you well," he pinched my nose and chuckled.
"X?" Thomas's voice sounds so weak.
I set my chili dog back into the bag and handed my dad the bag and my soda. I walked over to Thomas, "Yes Tommy?"
"I'm c-c-cold," he struggled to say the words.
"Let me get you some blankets," I smiled. He already had a blanket on top of his hospital sheets. Luckily, we had extra blankets laying on one of the chairs in the room.
I grabbed the blankets and spread them across the Thomas's bed. "Better?" I rubbed his covered arms.
"A little. Can y-you lay with m-m-me?"
"Of course." I heard myself sniffle as I laid beside him in the bed and wrapped my arms around his chilly body. I pulled him close to me so I could give him my body heat.
"I l-love you X," he said quietly before drifting to sleep again.
I rubbed his arms some more, "I love you too." I felt tears roll down my cheeks. I love this boy with all my heart. It pains me to see him this way.
After a while, Aunt Lisa came in and took my place. She had my mom brief me on what the doctor said about Thomas's condition. That's where they've been, talking to the doctor. And now, the news is running through my mind like a broken record.
I needed a breather. I decided to go downstairs and find something to drink from the vending machines.
"Here I am with Harry Styles in front of St. Jude's Children Hospital," I heard a voice say. What? I looked up at the tv that hung on the wall in the lobby. Sure enough, Harry was standing with a reporter in front of this very hospital. What is he doing? "Harry has a very important announcement for us."
"Thank you Kayla," Harry smiled to the reporter. Then, he pulled an envelope out of his pocket. "I have a check here for $100,000." Did he just say one..hundred..thousand..dollars? I quickly closed my mouth that was hanging opened and listened more.
"I'm donating this hospital money from my very own pocket," Harry's grin spread from ear to ear. He handed another lady, that was wearing a doctor's coat, the envelope. She happens to be the chief of this hospital. "Here you go Chief, put it to good use," he shook her hand.
Are you freakin' kidding me?! What the hell does he think he's doing?!
"Thank you Harry. This is very generous of you," the chief beamed.
The reporter faced the camera again, "There you have it. The Big-Hearted Harry Styles has given his very own money to research for children who are fighting for their lives. Thank you for having us, Harry."
"My pleasure," he put his arms behind his back and smiled to the camera. "I'd also like to ask that you guys please donate as well. No child should have to battle for the lives they've just begun."
"Here's some images of some of the patients at this hospital," Kayla said.
And there they were. Madison, Trevor, Penny, Kai...all of them. All of the kids I showed him today. And who was in each picture with them? Harry flippin' Styles.
Kayla finally signed out and look, here comes Harry. I fast-walked over to him and slapped him across the cheek. He looked stunned.
"Did you feel sorry for us? Or did you just want the publicity?" I yelled. I'm sure we were getting stares, but I didn't care. "Well?"
"I was trying to do something nice for you!" He fought back.
"For me?! Because it sure as hell looked like it was all about you!" I watched as he clenched his jaw. I mocked him, "Look at me, I'm famous and taking pictures of me and these sick kids. Notice me."
He poked me in the chest, "It's not like that!"
"You called them here didn't you!" He didn't say anything. "That's what I thought! It's all about you and your fame!"
"This was for you and Thomas!"
"Well, NEWS FLASH HARRY! THE MONEY WON'T HELP HIM! HE'S GOING TO DIE AND THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT!!" I screamed.
His anger turned into sympathy, "Lex."
I took a step away from him, tears bursting from my eyes. "I can't," my voice cracked. "I can't deal with you right now. Please, just go."
"Lex please," he begged, reaching his hands out for me.
I took another step back and shook my head. "Please go," I said in a whisper. I don't want to yell anymore. I just want him to leave me alone. I just want to be alone.
When he didn't move, I ran for the stairs located down the hall. Once I got there, I sat down on the steps and cried into my knees. I know I probably overreacted, but part of it's because I'm so overwhelmed. Thomas is going to die, it's only a matter of days. Part of my world will just...vanish.
