Lala Land *BEING REDONE*

Fro Man

"Harry?" I squinted my eyes as if I had x-ray vision. I was just trying to see if it was him.

"Hello Love," his raspy voice gave me butterflies.

"You look so stupid," I laughed as I reached over to fix his bow tie.

"Well this stupid looking guy just so happens to be your date," he pointed to his purple vest before pointing to my dress. Oh, they match. I get it. He removed my hands from his bow tie and intertwined his fingers with mine. "So are you going to take up my offer on that dance?"

I just nodded my head, allowing him to guide me through the crowd of people that stood on the dance floor. I didn't even feel in the mood to dance, I had so many questions I wanted to ask him. Why are we here? Why is he wearing a wig? Why does he want to dance with me? What about Taylor?

I danced anyways, freeing my mind from the unanswered questions. I stood in front of Harry and swayed my hips back in forth, holding my hands high above my head. The song wasn't all that fast, so I wasn't sure how to dance to it. Harry grabbed the revealed skin on my waist with his warm hands and turned me to face him.

Next thing I know, Harry starts twerking, which I couldn't help but to laugh at the sight. Then, he does a dance move where he looks like he's washing a car. More laughter fell from my lips.

"Come on, do it with me," he smiled, showing the dimples I love oh-so-much.

"Are you trying to embarrass me? Is that your goal?" I laughed as I did the dance move along with him.

"Darling, you're already embarrassing yourself by dancing with me," he chuckled. It's true. People were staring at us. Most likely because we were dancing like idiots, but I was having fun. We did more silly dance moves like the stanky leg and shuffling. Unfortunately for me, when I mirrored Harry's moves for shuffling, I accidentally elbowed some guys arm, in which he spilled his drink onto his date.

"I'm so sorry," I covered my mouth in embarrassment. All the girl did was growl and make fists with her hands as she stormed off to the bathroom.

"Thank you for saving me from that Freak," her date nodded to me in gratitude.

I walked back over to Harry who was laughing and pointing at me. My heart was being fast because I was humiliated, but I couldn't contain my laughter as well. I felt bad for her, but her date thanked me for freeing him, which only made the situation funny.

Suddenly, a slow song came on and Harry ended his laughter with a smile. "Can I have this dance, Dork?"

"Of course," I smiled back. He held out his hand which I happily put mine on top of. He held my hand gently as his free hand was set onto my lower back. I put my free hand onto his shoulder and we began our dance.

This felt nice. I decided I wanted to get closer to him. I took my hand that rested on his shoulder and moved it so my fingertips gripped the back of his shoulder and my palm rested on his shoulder blade. I then took my head and rested it against his chest and smiled. He hummed to my touch as we continued to sway to the music.

This is not how I ever imagined our first dance to be like. I wouldn't have ever guessed he'd be wearing a wig and sunglasses. Well actually, I never imagined us dancing at all. I'm not a dancer and I sure as hell didn't expect to ever be dancing with Harry Styles anyways. I wasn't expecting to ever meet him, really. I wish I could see his beautiful green eyes right now.

"Can I ask you something, Fro Man?" I lifted my head up and gave him a smirk.

"Anything," he looked down to meet my gaze.

"What's with the stupid disguise?" I laughed.

He chuckled before answering me, "I can't risk having people hate you for dancing with me at your Homecoming." My heart melted at his words. He was so sweet. I gave him a big grin that probably looked goofy.

I changed my happy expression to a serious face. If I'm already asking questions, I might as well ask more, right? "Why are you dancing with me? Aren't you dating Taylor?"

I watched as his beautiful smile disappeared. He seemed a little sad at the mention of Taylor's name.

"You don't have to answer me, it's fine." I didn't want to ruin his mood or anything. I shouldn't have even asked anyways. Why must I always be so damn curious? Wait, no. I should be asking because he's dancing with me. I don't want to break Harry and Taylor up. Gosh, this is so complicated.

"No, no. I'll tell you," he let out a sigh. He gave me a real smile at first, "I want to dance with you because I like you." I think my heart skipped a beat. Harry Styles likes me? And with no emotion, he continued, "As for Taylor, things just aren't what they seem."

"You like me?" I ignored the last thing he said, his words were still stuck in my head. "Why? You hate me."

Harry opened his mouth to answer my question, but he was interrupted by a voice from behind him.

"There she is, Mrs. Lexington Styles!" Graham yelled and clapped as he walked over to me.

"Hey Graham!" I ran up to him and have him a big hug. Harry was frozen in place as he watched us. If Graham was here, then Ryann and Carly were probably close by. I didn't want to think about what Ryann would do to me, so I shook off those thoughts. Ryann isn't abusive or anything, she just has a way of making you feel like the asshole. But she'd be nice enough to save that drama for a school day, in front of everyone in broad daylight. Lucky me (note the sarcasm).

"How was your date with Lover Boy?" Graham smiled down at me. He had to be as tall as Harry, if not taller.

"Graham, it wasn't a date." I rolled my eyes but continued to smile at him. "He's with Taylor anyways."

"Who's this?" Graham pointed at Harry, who I hadn't noticed inched closer to me.

"Oh Graham this is Ha-Ham-ilton, Hamilton." I almost blew his cover. Idiot. "And Hamilton, this is Graham."

"Nice to meet you," Graham smiled and held out his hand towards Harry.

"Nice to meet you too." I could tell Harry was putting on a fake smile as he shook Graham's hand.

"So are you Lexington's date?" Graham was making small talk with Harry. I swear, he's like the best guy friend you could ask for. If I make other friends, he automatically likes them and he says it's because I'd never choose the wrong type of friends.

"Yes I am, and you're her..." he held the word her, hoping Graham would finish the sentence.

"Oh I'm just a friend," Graham smiled. "Lexington, I hope you know your a shoe-in for Homecoming Queen."

"Really? How?" I was surprised. No one ever votes me for stuff.

"Let's just say that a certain someone nominated you because he knows you've been wanting something exciting to happen." Graham slowly pointed at himself and mouthed the word 'me' with a smile.

"I can't believe you!" I jumped into his arms. "Thank you, that's the sweetest thing anyone has done for me."

"No problem. Anything for you." Graham held me tight.

Harry cleared his throat behind us. "Maybe I should go. You two have fun."

"No, no, no." I grabbed Harry's hand. "Don't leave me." He gave me a half smile.

"I'm the one who should be going. Later Lexington. Hamilton." Graham waved at me, nodded his head at Harry, and walked away.

"Later Lexington," Harry mocked Graham.

I slapped Harry's arm, "What is your problem? He did something really sweet for me. Why do you have to be so rude?"

"I'm sorry," Harry muttered. I knew he was only partly sorry.

"Now, what were you saying before Graham came up?" I wrapped my arms around Harry's neck, his Afro tickling my skin.

"It's nothing," Harry took my arms from around his neck and placed them at my side. He looked at me with a hurt expression before he walked away from me. He left me there in confusion and shock. Why was he acting like this? Did I do something wrong?

The dance was just depressing. I have been walking around all by myself, eating the little treats the school had out for us. I couldn't help but stuff my face in all of my sadness. I just wanted to eat all of the pain away with the delicious chocolate cupcakes.

"Whoa, slow down there," an Irish voice said from behind me. I turned around to face Niall, only to see him standing beside Louis. "I know you share my love of food, but I'm pretty sure you normally don't eat that much," he raised his eyebrow and pointed at my hands.

I looked down at my hands to find three tiny chocolate cupcakes. I was also still in the middle of chewing one.

"Give them to me," Louis held his hand out. I shook my head at him before he repeated himself, waving his hand some more. I gave up and handed him all three of the delicious sweets. He set them on the table behind me and grabbed a napkin.

He took the napkin and rubbed the corner of my cheeks causing me to roll my eyes and mumble, "I'm not a baby, you know?"

"You're sure acting like one," Louis talked back. I can't believe he said that to me. But sadly, he was right. I couldn't help myself though, I hate it when people are mad or sad because of me. I'm not sure which emotion Harry is feeling right now, but either way I caused it and I felt terrible. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but that only saddened me more.

"What's wrong, Lexiboo?" Niall cupped my face with his hands.

"I don't know what I did," I pouted. I'm not sure they even knew what I was talking about.

"You didn't do anything, but we have something to show you. Come on," Niall grabbed my hand and slowly walked us over to the large stage that sat against the gym wall. I hadn't noticed that people were watching us with envy and/or in amazement the whole time. I honestly didn't care at the moment since Harry's hurt expression kept replaying in my mind like a gif. Of course, it was hard to see his expression through his sunglasses, but I could feel the tension between us.

When we reached the stage, Louis and Niall both jumped onto it. Niall reached out his hand and gestured me to join him onto the stage. I put on a fake smile and did as the blonde boy pleased. He put his hands on both of my shoulders, guiding me to a stool Liam had brought out from "backstage", which was really just the rest of the gym that had been hidden by black curtains.

Another stool was brought out by Zayn, in which Louis guided an overly excited Holly to sit onto it. That's when I heard music begin playing through the gym. Everyone turned their attention to the stage, screams and loud gasps were heard throughout the crowd. Holly and I were the luckiest girls in the world.

The gym went dark, causing people to freak out until the stage lit up with white and sky blue lights.

"Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain," Harry appeared from "backstage" and sung. Girls were screaming there heads off, obviously major fans of the curly haired boy. He no longer wore his silly looking wig and his sunglasses. "I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days." His voice was so peaceful and beautiful. I smiled and swayed to the music, giggling over to Holly who smiled back.

"She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones," Liam's voice took over. He stood between Holly and I, singing to the crowd.

"I LOVE YOU LIAM!" someone from the crowd screamed.

Liam winked at the crowd and continued his singing, "Seems to me that when I die these words will be written on my stone."

"And I'll be gone, gone tonight," Zayn walked up from behind Liam, putting a hand on Liam's shoulder. I'm surprised no one in the crowd's heads have falled off from all the screaming. The rest of the boys stood in a line behind us, Liam soon joining them, and harmonized their sounds. "The ground beneath my feet is open wide. The way that I've been holding on too tight, with nothing in between."

"The story of my life," Harry began again. This time he walked towards me, pressing his hand gently against my back. His touch sent those damn butterflies through my stomach yet again. "I take her home, I drive all night to keep her warm, and time...is frozen." When he sang 'frozen,' he locked his eyes with mine, making me blush and giggle.

The other boys harmonized, "the story of, the story of," in the background as Harry sung.

"The story of my life, I give her hope, I spend her love, until she's broke inside. The story of my life," Harry looked to the crowd as he sung some more, peering at me from time to time.

"The story of, the story of," the other boys repeated in the background.

"Written on these walls are the colors that I can't change," Niall replaced Harry's voice with his own. Niall walked over to Holly and put his arm around her as more fans lost it. "Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage."

"I know that in the morning now I see us in the light upon a hill." Liam stood between us all and poured his heart out into his words. "Although I am broken, my heart is untamed, still."

"And I'll be gone, gone tonight," Louis finally had his solo, making a few girls pass out. Dramatic. "The fire beneath my feet is burning bright, the way that I've been holding on so tight with nothing in between."

Instead of continuing with the song, a record scratch played. Harry gave me a playful smile and wink before setting his microphone on the stage floor along with the other boys' microphones.

"I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us," Taylor came onto the stage from behind the curtains. People cheered and screamed at the sight of her. "Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us."

I thought all boys had put their microphones to the floor but I was surprised when I heard Niall begin to rap, "Uh, ever thought about losing it? When your money's all gone and you lose your whip."

Harry took my hand and Louis took Holly's. We all lined up behind Taylor and Niall and danced around. We free styled our dances at first, looking like fools and receiving laughs from the crowd.

Next thing I know, the song was interrupted by another song that none of them even sung, 'Jump On It.'

"Sing it with us, and don't forget to dance," Niall's voice excited the crowd. We all lined up on the stage before the crowd and did the dance moves to the song. Listening to the crowd sing the words and watching Harry do the dance before me, it overwhelmed me with happiness. I couldn't help but laugh for half of the dance, it was just so fun and entertaining to say the least. This was definitely my favorite dance by far. Soon, the song finished and we all cheered and clapped.

Harry turned to me, high-fiving me without letting my hand leave his, and then intertwining our fingers. This boy makes me incredibly happy. I wish this moment could last forever. Wait, no. I can't hold his hand in front of all these people. This feels wrong, but it feels so right. As much as I wanted to let go, I couldn't.

"Thank you One Direction and Taylor Swift!" my principal walked onto the stage with an envelope in her hand. The lights in the building began flickering back on, leaving us to squint as we adjusted to the lighting. We all bowed before leaving the stage, my hand still connected to Harry's. We stood in front of the stage, all eyes on my principal.

"It is now time to announce our homecoming queen and king!"

I looked away from my principal for a second to look up at the curly haired boy that stood beside me. His dimples were clearly shown as he observed my principal's words and I couldn't help but poke one of them. He let out a girly giggle and leaned down to me, pressing his forehead against mine.

"It's hard to pay attention when a beautiful girl is distracting me," he stared into my eyes.

My cheeks heated up, "I can't help it when your adorable little dimples are standing out."

"You think they're adorable?" he lifted his forehead from mine, still leaving limited space between our faces.

"That's not the only thing I think is adorable," I confidently said. I finally admitted it. Although, I'm pretty sure, since he knows I fantasize about him, that he already knows I'm attracted to him. But the thing is, I think I'm developing feelings for him now, and I kind of like it. I just wish he was single.

"And the queen is..."

Harry and I ignored my principal. Instead, he cupped my face with one of his hands and brushed my cheek with his thumb. I watched as he slowly leaned forward, closing his eyes. Wait, is he really doing this? Here? Right now? I hated myself for this, but I closed my eyes as well, and began to meet him halfway.

"Lexington Reed!"

"What?" Harry and I whipped our heads to the stage.

Notes

I love this chapter. It took me a while to have Harry show up again, I'm sorry. But if there's anything I've learned from reading, it's that the suspense only makes it more interesting.

What will happen next? Stay tuned. :D
