Keep Me Safe

Niall’s POV
I went to the kitchen to get Emma some water, and by the time I got back she was already asleep. I chuckled to myself, shaking my head. She was so beautiful while she was asleep. How could someone be so gorgeous even with bruises all over their face? I thought. I set down the glass of water onto the side table and sat down next to her. I didn’t get comfortable quite yet because I knew the lads and their girlfriends would be arriving soon. I looked at Emma’s face, which was scrunched slightly with pain. I started to worry, I wanted to wake her up and give her medication, but I couldn’t she just took some. There is nothing I can do to help her, and the thought of that just about killed me. There was a knock at the door. I opened the door and let everyone in. “Hey guys.” I said quietly. “Hey Niall how is she?” Harry asked while the others made their way through the door, hugging me one by one. “She’s sleeping at the moment poor thing is exhausted.” I said I went and sat down next to Emma gently lifting her head onto my lap and ran my fingers through her hair. This felt so right, me and her together, it is just perfect. I sat waiting for everyone to finish hanging up their coats in the hall. They all piled in sitting on the huge couch across from Emma and I. Eleanor was last to come in after she used the bathroom. When she walked into the room her eyes immediately went to Emma. She drew in a quick breath and covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes widened. “I didn’t think it would be so bad, are you sure she’s alright.” She asked basically crying. Louis walked over to her and hugged her. He led her over to the couch and they sat next to each other, her wrapped in his arms. “She’ll be ok don’t worry.” I said smiling slightly. “What exactly happened to her? How do you know her? All we know is that you met her recently and she got hurt.” Liam asked. I took a deep breath and looked down at Emma then bet to the rest of them. “Well I met her at Nandos, and I really like her. We exchanged numbers, but then she told me she was in an abusive relationship and that he would kill her if he found out, so she left. When I called her, her boyfriend answered, he sounded mad. I went to the park to clear my head and that when I saw her. I think her boyfriend did it to her.” I paused stopped and pulled myself together. Eleanor began to cry silently and all the others were clearly shaken up by this news. No one was sure what to say so they stayed silent. Emma’s eyes opened. I couldn’t help but get butterflies in my stomach. I hope she doesn’t mind I put her head in my lap. “Hey Em.” I said smiling. When she said I hi back to me I felt so pleased that she seemed to be feeling alright. Once she realized that everyone was there she seemed embarrassed that she had been sleeping. I was so happy that she got on with everyone though. I felt so lucky. We all just talked for a while but I wasn’t paying attention to what was being said. I could only think about Emma how perfectly her hair fell, how pretty she smelled, her laugh, everything about her. When everyone left she told me that she was leaving tonight I couldn’t let that happen. “No, don’t leave, just stay here with me I’ll keep you safe.” I said. I don’t know what came over me but I leaned down and kissed her. She seemed shocked but kissed back slightly. There was magic in that kiss, this girl does something to me that I can’t explain, I love it. When she agreed I was ecstatic. She laid her head onto my shoulder. I’m glad she’s staying, I have something special planned for tomorrow.
