A Choice
Ocotber 27th
October 27th
I woke up to the calling of my name by my Mother.
“Angela!”
“Coming Mother!” Oh I do so hope it is Tom that has arrived but I did not expect him so early in the morning for he said he’d be here in the afternoon. I walked out in the front toward the garden but instead of finding Mother and Tom I found Mother and a bouquet of daffodils.
“Good Morning Mother”
“Good morning dear”
“Mother may I ask where these elegant flowers come from?” I asked pointing to the flowers.
“Doth Mother perhaps have a suitor of her own?” I asked sending her a playful smile.
“Oh hush now child” She said with the waving of her hand.
“There for you.”
“From Tom?” I asked with hope in my voice
“No from the Prince”
“Oh” I looked down in disappointment. Oh well at least I will see Tom today.
“So the prince came here today?”
“No just a guard but he said they from the prince for you he also said this letter was for you.” Mother said holding out a mall envelope.
“Thank You” I opened the envelope to read the letter which said
“ Dear Angela I know that you are betrothed to someone however I still wish to court you this afternoon just to have a discussion I shall pick you up 5 o’clock this evening,
Prince Harry”
“Mother might I borrow the carriage”
“Sure but what for?”
“I’m going to London”
I knew I had plenty of time to get to London and be back hoe in time to see Tom since I was woken up at sunrise at around 6 o’clock. I had made it to the palace at 10 o’clock. I asked the guard to tell Prince Harry I was here. A moment later the guard told me to come inside while he would keep an eye on my carriage I thanked him and went inside. I was amazed at how large the palace was for it seemed the hallway was endless.
"Glorious isn’t it?” I spun around and saw Harry. I was not surprised to see him alone his parents went to settle in Spain for a few years.
“Indeed sir it is”
“Might you come sit with me and have some tea?”
“Oh no sir I have only come to te-“
“Oh nonsense come with me”
“Very well sir but only for a moment”
“This way” He then led me outside to a beautiful and sweet small garden with a table and a full tea set. We sat down.

“So I see you did not receive my letter”
“Sir I did but I’ve come to tell you something that couldn’t wait until this afternoon”
“Yes?”
“Well my fiancé is coming today and I won’t be able to court with you”
“That’s a shame perhaps tomorrow then”
“Sir you said you only wanted to have a discussion might we have it now?” I was indeed growing impatient of him trying to court me. It felt as almost he didn’t accept my engagement.
“Very well, Angela might I ask about your fiancé?”
“Yes.”
“What is he like?”
“Oh he’s very charming sire we’ve known each other so long I think it might of always been love” I said smiling with how much happiness Tom and I have together.
“I see and what of his means of money” I then frowned at his questioning for even though he was the prince this wasn’t any of his business.
“Why sir?”
“You wish not to answer my question?”
“Yes sir I do not”
“Well what if someone could offer you more?”
“Someone sir?”
“Perhaps another man”
“Sir that wouldn’t mean anything to me”
“I see what if this other man had affections so deep for you that not even he could understand?”
“Well then I would be quite sorry for that other man seeing how I’m in love with my fiancé.” I said with a bit of nasty tone growing tired of this. Although I had a feeling that Harry was the ‘Other Man’
“I see what if you were to give this other man a chance” He said quietly while stroking my hand that was on the table. I flinched at his touch and put my hand in my lap.
“Is this all sir?”
“Yes so I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning then?”
“No sir no courting at all”
“None at all?”
“Perhaps this Other Man shall find another lady”
“What if he can’t?”
“Well there nothing I can do for him then.” With that I got up and left and went inside and walked toward the doors.
“Wait Angela!” I hear him running behind me so I stop and turn around.
“Yes?” I ask annoyed
“What if this other man won’t stop trying?”
“Then he will lead a sad and lonely life” With that, I turned and left.
Tom would be any minute Mother and I cleaned the home and made tea with scones.
“Excuse me miss I do believe I’m happy to see you.” I hear a voice from the doorway.
“Tom!” I ran and gave the greatest hug I could give him.
“Oh Tom I have missed you so!”
‘As I have you. But perhaps it’s time we told your Mother about things.”
“Tom she already knows”
“What?”
“I know I gave you my word but something had come up and I had no other choice”
“It’s alright but does she approve?”
“Yes” I said with a smile
“Perfect”
“Awe look at you both this is a very happy moment I see”
“Yes ma’am it is.”
“Congratulations to the both of you”
“Thank you” we both said at the same time
For the rest of the afternoon we talked about wedding plans and toms travels. Before he left we agreed tomorrow we shall look at a home to move into after the wedding.
