Chapter 46: Back For You

Leila's P.O.V.
Yesterday (Friday) was a lazy day for us. We really didn't do much, just some chores that needed to be done since we've been very busy lately. It felt nice to take a day off and not have any worries about anything.

Today Cameron flies in, and as I shower and get ready for the day, I think about what we could do. It's a beautiful day outside, a great day to tour the city. I promised him that, anyways. The scent of cinnamon fills my nose as I exit the bathroom and head into my bedroom, Niall still asleep.

"Niall," I coax, placing my arms on either side of him and gently shaking his bare shoulders.

"Hmm," he groans, not opening his eyes.

"Wake up," I say. I look at his sleepy face and it is one of the most adorable things ever.

He inhales a deep breath and finally opens his eyes, sitting up and meeting my gaze.

"Well good morning to you, too," I greet.

"Morning," he mumbles.

"We have to pick up Cameron soon, so I suggest you get up and get ready," I tell him.

"What are you, my mother?" he jokes. I roll my eyes.

"Just get ready," I smile, standing up.

"Wait!" Niall begs, grabbing my arm and stopping me from advancing on. I look back at him
and he's puckering his lips. Sighing, I move back to give him his morning kiss and pad into the kitchen to where Madison is.

"Homemade cinnamon rolls, you want one?" Madison informs as soon as she sees me.

"Hell yes!" I declare. "Homemade?"

"Yeah. I don't know, I just felt like cinnamon rolls but I'm too lazy to run to the store, so I looked online for a recipe and I figured out we have everything here so yeah," she explains, handing me a plate with 2 rolls on it.

"Cool, thanks!" I tell her, taking the plate and sitting at the table.

"So when is your friend coming?" she asks, joining me.

"His flight is supposed to be coming in around 11:30," I say. "I should probably check to make
sure it's on time."

"Well, we have about 2 hours until then," Madison informs.

"Well done, Captain Obvious," I respond, smiling and taking out my phone.

"Shut up," she replies, grinning.

"Okay, so, the website says his flight is on time," I announce. "We should probably get to the airport an hour before because of security and stuff."

"Sounds good to me," Madison remarks.

For the next hour, we don't do much besides eating breakfast and watching a little bit of TV. Niall eventually wakes up and I basically drag him to the bathroom to get ready. I guess the smell of those cinnamon rolls before wasn't enough.

Soon, we're driving off through the city to LAX. It gets really confusing the closer you get there and we had to backtrack and turn around a bunch of times and it was insane. Luckily we left early enough so we made it in time.

We enter in the building, go through security, and find our way to the right terminal and section. After a few minutes, the airplane has arrived and people slowly exit the passenger walkway and into the gate. There are so many people coming out and I look for Cameron but I don't see him. Niall and Madison haven't spotted him yet and the people just keep coming. It seems like you can almost ask the question: how many people can they fit in there?! I'm almost in freak out mode when finally Cameron makes his way out of the walkway and locates us.

"Cam!" I scream and run into him, giving him a huge hug.

"Hey, Lei," he laughs, gripping me tight. Suddenly, he loosens up and I pull away to see that Niall has come up behind me. Damn it, I still need to let Cam know that Niall won't do any harm
to him.

"Hey, Cameron, I'm Madison," she introduces, holding out her hand. Cam takes it but then pulls her in for a hug. Wow, he's smooth.

"Sup, I'm Niall," he greets once they let go.

"Yup, I recognize you from the video chats," Cam says with no emotion. Okay, then.

"Should we go get your bags?" I suggest.

"Sure, it should be in baggage claim number 6," Cam replies, looking down.

I lead the way down the stairs to the lower level where all of the baggage claims are and look for number 6. As we descend, Madison and Cam make small talk and he seems fine now. I guess it's probably Niall he's afraid of. Well, I shouldn't say "afraid," but intimidated. He was okay during the video chats, so is it about meeting in person?

Finding baggage claim number 6, we merge into the sea of people already crowded around it. Niall stands back and lets us grab Cam's bag, and once we spot it and seize it, we run over to Niall.

"That's the only thing I hate about airports," I admit.

"Me too," Cam agrees.

"Let's get going before these people also have the same idea as us," Niall suggests, and we head back up the stairs and outside to Madison's car.

The ride back is quiet and it feels really awkward. I don't exactly know what to say right now and I have a feeling all of us are glad when Madison pulls up into the apartment's parking lot. We help Cameron carry in his bags and immediately settle on the couches.

"So what would you like to do today, Cam?" Madison starts off.

"Well, Lei promised a tour of the city," he points out, looking at me.

"We'll get to that," I tell him, smiling.

"Anybody else hungry?" Niall asks.

"You're always hungry," I laugh.

"I am. Airplane food isn't the greatest," Cam adds.

"Should we have a picnic in the park and then a tour?" Madison offers.

"Sure," I agree.

"I'm cool with it," Cam replies.

"Alright, I'll start packing food," Madison says, getting up from her spot on the couch and walking into the kitchen.

"I'll go get blankets and stuff," Niall tells us and exits the living room in search for picnic blankets.

"Nice apartment," Cam comments, looking around.

"Thanks. It's been Madison's for about a year now and she was looking for a roommate, and
here I am," I explain.

"Haha, cool," Cameron chuckles. "You still haven't told me the story of your dyed hair."

I roll my eyes. "It's a very long story."

"And now I'm here, so," he says.

"I'll tell you later," I reply.

"Fine," Cameron responds, grinning.

A few minutes later, everything's packed up and we load in Madison's car again. Even though the park is only a couple of minutes away, it's easier to drive there than walk with all of our stuff. This time, I make sure it's not as silent and I inform Cameron that this is the way I take to the studio and the park that we're going to is the same one I ate lunch at during work.
Madison parks the car across the road and we scramble out with all of the stuff, moving to an open grassy area and spreading out the blankets. Sitting down, we dig in to the basket Madison prepared.

After our stomachs are filled, we have a great conversation with Cameron. It turns out he's decided to go to college for business and I'm surprised because he's never really liked business before. He's attending a local college so when I come back home, I can visit him if I want. He seems more like himself now, but he hasn't made eye contact with Niall at all.

Once Cam's finished with his story, I explain mine, from the very beginning. When I get to the part where I was fired and we snuck into the studio, Niall and Madison help me out. Cameron's really interested in this but he's still acting wierd around Niall. This is killing me.

"Hey, can I talk to you?" I ask Cameron when I'm done.

"Yeah, sure," he says, standing up. I get up and lead him away from our stuff.

"What is your problem?" I immediately demand.

"What do you mean?" he questions, playing dumb.

"I mean, you keep acting like you hate Niall. You don't make eye contact, you look disgusted
whenever he's talking, and I just can't take this! What's your deal?!"

Cam takes a deep breath and then answers, "I had you first. We had something together, and all of a sudden you move here to live your dream and you find someone else even though we admitted to each other we liked each other. It's killing me knowing you're with him when you should be with me. I loved you first, always have and always will. This isn't fair to me, Leila."

I knew this was the answer.

"First of all, we never had anything together. Yes, we admitted we liked each other and we kissed but-"

"That didn't mean anything to you?" Cam interrupts.

"Well-"

"I knew it. I shouldn't have come. Have fun with Niall. I'm out of here," he says, walking away from me.

"Cameron!" I call, running after him. When he doesn't look back, I yell, "So you just want us to
be over? Completely? Not even friends? Even though you know you can't live without me?"

He stops and turns around. "I've been living without you, Leila, for the past couple of months."

"We still video chatted and texted," I tell him. "Cameron, I don't know what's gotten into you, but this is hurting me as much as it's hurting you! I can't lose you."

"I don't want to lose you either," he whispers.

"Then what are you doing? Just because we can't have a relationship you just blow me off?"

"It's too hard, Leila! I love you!" he shouts. He inhales a deep breath. "I love you."

I know he does. We said the same things to each other before I left. But then I met Niall and I love him, too. Niall's been through all of this shit with me and since he's gone through it once, he went through it again for me. But then Cameron's also been there for me, since we were young and people made fun of us for our quirkiness.

"So what are you saying? That you want me to dump Niall?" I state.

"I would love that, but that's not my decision," he responds.

"Cameron, I'm sorry. If you truly loved me, you would have taken the chance before I moved here. I've got Niall now and you're not here with me every day. I'm sorry," I apologize. "And I don't know about you, but sulking around about this and having an attitude around Niall is not helping the situation. Niall's a great guy, Cameron. So are you, but you're not around me much anymore. Please be nice to him and actually get to know him. For me."

Cameron takes a deep breath again and looks into my eyes. "Alright, fine. I'm sorry about this, Leila. I didn't mean for this to happen but every time I look at him, I get jealous. I'm protective over you. I just want him to treat you right because he's holding my sunshine and I don't want anything to happen to my ray of sunshine."

Smiling, I lead Cameron back over to Niall and Madison and his attitude has completely changed. Now it's finally the Cameron I know. He engages in a conversation with Niall and really gets to know him and the weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

An hour later, we decide to pack up and take a tour of the city. The city is surprisingly calm for this time of day and it doesn't take us that long to drive around. We don't go through the entire city, just the part we're all familiar with. Then we decide to head back to the apartment. As soon as we enter the lobby, a familiar face is already sitting there, waiting for us apparently.

"Alexa?" I shout, stopping in my tracks. She stands up and walks over to me.

"Hey," she shyly greets. "Look, I'm really sorry for everything. I was a complete idiot and I was so selfish. I didn't realize how much of a bitch I acted to you until everything happened these past couple of weeks. It's been lonely without you and I feel guilty for how I treated you. I'm sorry."

I instantly hug her and she's caught off guard, but then hugs me too. Niall comes over and joins us and it's just like old times, except we're missing just one person. Oh, my God. I forgot all about him.

"Apology accepted. Come on upstairs," I reply and all of us cram into the elevator. As soon as we reach the right floor, we chase each other to the apartment and barge through the door, partying it up once we enter.

This has been one hell of a weekend, but it's one weekend I'll never forget.

@leikelamichelle

Sounds good to me - other fanfic ideas are just as good as sequels! I'm certainly not trying to pressure you into writing a sequel, I was just curious as to whether you, at this point in time, planned on it :).

I do look forward to your new Niall (or Ashton or otherwise) story ideas ^_^
