Chapter 41: Just On The Outside

Niall's P.O.V.

Holy shit am I nervous. I never thought in my life I'd be doing this. Leila has literally turned my world upside down but in a good way, I guess. Doing the right thing certainly is nervewracking and after all of this, I'm still surprised it's working and I'm okay.

I'm just very glad to see that some action has been taken against Sierra. Once we're done with her, we just need Spencer and then everything will be back to normal, I hope. I swear I have never seen anything like these 2 girls and I don't even want to know what goes on in those devious brains of theirs. Why, of all people, did we get stuck with them?

This Tuesday morning is a blur as I meet with my uncle and drive to the station again for more paperwork. As we fill it out with my parents names, I realize that I have no idea what they would think right now. Getting into this "trouble," they would probably call it, is not such a great thing right now since my dream finally came true and One Direction just started.

After so many papers are finally filled out, Uncle Charlie invites me to lunch, since it's about early afternoon now. I remember that I need to talk to him about the passes to get in the studio, so I accept and we head to a moderate restaurant. We are seated and given menus, and after ordering, I decide this is the right time to ask.

"Uncle Charlie?" I start, inhaling a deep breath.

"Hmm?" he answers, sipping his coffee and doing other paperwork for the studio. How can he continue that? I got tired of yesterday's paperwork.

"I need a big favor from you and I'm hoping you'll be alright with it," I say.

"Is this about letting Leila back in?" he asks, looking at me.

"Kind of. It's bigger than that, though."

"Oh?" he voices, raising his eyebrows.

"I told you before that we are going to prove that Leila's innocent. We figured out that the proof is in the security cameras and we want to take a look back and see if we're right," I begin.

"That's possible," Uncle Charlie intervenes.

"Well, first of all, neither of us know how to work the monitors, so we were wonding if you did and if you would help us," I continue.

He takes a deep breath before saying, "I do know how it all works, and since I know I'm not going to be able to stop you, I'd be willing to."

My heart skips as the hardest part is now a go. But there's still one more...

"Thank you! One more thing. Leila's still banned, and I know you can let her in, but we don't want many people knowing she's there. She's going to disguise herself for that reason, but her and her roommate Madison need passes to get through security. Do you think you can do that and sign them off as a meeting with you?"

"Dang, lad, you are asking a lot," Uncle Charlie laughs. "But yes, I can provide that, since again, I can't stop 3 teenagers from pursuing what they think is right."

I let out a big sigh of relief as he agrees to this. "Thank you so much, Uncle Charlie."

"Is there anything else?" he questions with a smile.

"That's it," I reply.

"This sounds like you're trying to break into the studio," he chuckles again. "but with my
permission and knowledge."

"How else can we prove it? The proof is in those cameras, I know it," I urge.

"I'm not disagreeing with you, lad. I'm just saying," he ends. Looking down at his watch, his eyes widen. "We've got to get back to the station."

"What? I thought we were done for the day!" I intervene.

"You were already in the car. They stopped me and told me to return after our break," Uncle Charlie explains, standing up. Sigh.

Leila's P.O.V.

"Wow," Madison breathes, looking at me with a sparkle in her eyes. "You look...amazing."

I glance in the mirror at my new hair. Before, it was just past my shoulders. Now, it's almost down to my waist, thanks to extensions. Also, the stylist dyed it to a bright blonde, almost the same shade as Niall's. Just an hour ago I was a dark brunette and as I continue to stare at myself, I can't believe how different I look. But it's a good different.

"That's a great look for you, Leila," the stylist comments. "It's perfect for your beautiful eyes."

"Thank you," I respond, smiling. The stylist removes the plastic sheet from my body and I'm able to stand up. Madison and I split the cost since she decided what to do with my hair. We pay the lady and thank her for doing a great job, and then we head to the car.

"I want to know what Niall's going to say," Madison asserts, getting in the driver's seat.

"Shut up," I reply, blushing.

"Are you....?" she asks astonished, looking over at me and laughing.

"Maybe," I tell her, avoiding her eye contact. "Is he even going to recognize me, though?"

"Leila, he's been your boyfriend for almost 2 months. I'm pretty sure he would know your face even if you had plastic surgery," Madison answers. Well damn.

"2 months isn't very long," I note as Madison pulls out of the parking lot.

"It's enough for him to know you," she reveals. "And besides, you two have been inseparable since you met. I'm surprised he hasn't asked you to give him some space."

"Oh, so you're implying I'm clingy?" I question, jokingly offended.

"Both of you are clingy but both of you don't mind it," she explains.

"Are you some sort of relationship specialist?" I ask, giggling.

"Maybe," she responds, laughing. She flicks on the radio and it becomes our filler for the rest of the drive. After about 10 minutes, we end up at one of the malls. Putting the car in park, we hop out and enter in the big glass doors.

"What store first?" I question.

"Well, I don't want to make it too expensive, but the style I'm looking for is more fancy and
costly," Madison answers, taking off down one of the long hallways and maneuvering through
people.

"What do you mean, fancy?"

"Dress and heels," she replies, not looking at me.

"What?" I exclaim.

"Not too fancy of a dress, just a casual one. You don't normally wear dresses anyways," she responds, walking into none other than a dress store.

"Woah," I declare when I enter in.

"Lots of choices here, Lei," Madison comments, stepping through many aisles of dresses. "But I think black might be the perfect color..." She navigates her way through the store until she finds the casual black dresses.

"Are you sure about black?" I ask.

"Trust me, Leila, black looks good on anything," she responds, picking up a very cute one.
"How about this?"

"Surprisingly, I like it," I admit, taking the dress in my hands.

"Try it on! I wanna see how it looks with your new hair!" she exclaims, pushing me to the dressing rooms.

"Okay, okay!" I say, occupying an empty stall and slipping it on. I glimpse at myself in the mirror and I'm shocked at the outcome. It's not me at all but I look amazing. Taking a deep breath, I push open the door to let Madison see.

"Damn, girl. You're hot," she speaks. "I would turn lesbian for you."

"Woah, okay, slow down there! I have a boyfriend, remember?" I giggle.

"Speaking of him, he's going to be fucking speechless," Madison announces.

"Anyways," I say, trying to get off of this subject. I love him and the fact we're talking about him, but I know exactly what his expression is going to be and I'm slightly nervous. It's just something about being in a relationship.

"We're getting that," she flatly claims.

"Madison, it's $120," I reply, checking the tag.

"If we split it, it's $60 each. That's not too bad," she responds.

"But what about shoes?"

"Do you still have the ones you wore to that party weeks ago?" Madison questions.

"Yeah," I answer.

"Good because those will do," she speaks. "Now take it off and let's buy that sucker!"

Smiling and rolling my eyes at her, I turn around and change in the stall. It is a beautiful dress, I'll admit to that. And I'm still surprised I can pull it off. Hanging it back on the hanger, I grab all of my stuff and head out to where Madison is waiting. We find our way to the register and pay for the dress.

"Is that all we need?" I interrogate once we exit the store.

"I think so. The dress, heels, glasses, and hair should be enough to disguise you," Madison
replies.

"So we're going home now?"

"Yup, unless there's anything else you want," she adds.

"I don't think so," I say.

"Then let's go home. It's already late afternoon and I'm getting hungry," Madison decides.

The car is hot from the heat of the sun as we climb in and I feel like we're in an oven when Madison starts driving away from the mall. She cranks up the air conditioning but it takes a while for it to kick in so we suffer in the warm air for a few minutes. While all of that is going on, my phone suddenly rings and my caller ID lights up to read: Niall.

"Hey, what's up?" I answer, putting my phone to my ear.

"Hey," he replies in a hushed tone. "Before I go into it, I just want you to know that we're okay
and to not worry."

"What's going on?" I question, very concerned.

"I'm in court at the moment. We're in a break right now," Niall responds, still whispering slightly.

"I thought you weren't supposed to be in court."

"I thought so too but the police disagreed so now I'm here," he explains.

"Okay, well, I hope everything stays fine and good luck," I deliver.

"Thanks, love. I don't know when I'll be home, though. This could take hours."

"Thanks for letting me know, at least."

"No problem," he replies. "I gotta go, now, they're calling everyone back in."

"I love you," I say.

"Love you, too," he responds, and ends the call. I take my phone away from my ear and slide it back into my bag.

"What's going on?" Madison asks.

"Niall's in court," I announce, closing my eyes. I didn't want this to happen.

"Oh, shit," Madison claims.

"Yup."

The rest of the drive is quiet as we stick to our thoughts. Minutes later Madison pulls into the familiar parking lot of our apartment building and we head inside with the disguises. I'm relieved as I crash on the couch the second we enter in.

"What do you want for dinner?" Madison calls from the kitchen.

"I don't know, anything," I answer, turning on the TV.

Madison makes dinner and we eat and watch TV as we wait for Niall to get home. Madison
wants me to put on my dress for him but I know my hair will be enough. I don't want to make the poor boy faint! Even though it could happen and I would laugh so hard but then feel guily about it later.

We're in the middle of another chick flick when finally I hear the door open and Niall rushes in. He seems to be in a great mood until he spots me and stops in his tracks. His blue eyes can't stop staring at me and I bite my lip as I feel my cheeks begin to warm up, not to mention my stomach has so many butterflies trying to find a way out, too. Madison's just sitting there on the couch, grinning from ear to ear.

"Hey, babe," I say, breaking the silence.

"H-hey," he stutters. "I-I...y-you..."

I get up from the couch and slowly walk towards him, stopping right in front of him. His eyes are still connected with mine and I can feel the sparks as I take his hand and interlock it. Since he still hasn't managed to say anything else, I stand on my tiptoes and kiss him lightly, assuring him that even though physically I've changed, I'm still the same Leila he fell in love with.

"It's still me," I tell him when I pull away. His lips form a smile and I back away, moving to my spot on the couch again.

"Damn, you're cute," Madison comments under her breath.

"So, how'd it go?" I ask.

"H-how did what go?" Niall says, his expression confused.

"Court," I reply. How bad did I affect him?!

"Oh, oh!" he remembers, an invisible lightbulb appearing over his head. He steps over to the edge of the couch and pauses for dramatic effect.

"Sierra's been sentenced for 2 years in prison."

Notes

Ok so I know I said I was back almost a week and a half ago...well, my parents decided to surprise me with my German exchange student last week. They set up the entire thing to bring her here for my graduation party and she stayed about 5 days, so every free minute was spent with her. I would have updated but I had no idea she was coming until she was at my front door.

Anyways, everything's going back to normal now :)

@leikelamichelle

Sounds good to me - other fanfic ideas are just as good as sequels! I'm certainly not trying to pressure you into writing a sequel, I was just curious as to whether you, at this point in time, planned on it :).

I do look forward to your new Niall (or Ashton or otherwise) story ideas ^_^
