Chapter 23: Security!

Leila's P.O.V.

The rest of Monday goes by quickly with only a few death glares from Spencer and some snotty comments. Words hurt, but I’m stronger than that. She won’t be able to bring me down.

Tuesday comes fast and I remember that Niall leaves today, or did leave this morning. Our weekend was technically goodbye because neither of us had time to physically say goodbye before he left, since I was working and he, well, was packing. On Wednesday, Spencer and Sierra were hiding around the set all of yesterday and today, acting very secretive. I don’t want to know what they’re plotting, but I’ll bet you anything it’s going to deal with me. Walking around set without Niall makes me uncomfortable, even though this is my job and my dream and I shouldn’t feel this way. Blame it on the troublemakers.

Thursday is finally here, which means it’s one more day closer to the weekend. Today is filming day, as usual, so I head inside the dressing room early and begin to get ready. Alexa and Spencer enter not long after, but Spencer starts bragging about how rich she is again.

“OMG, guys, my mom just bought me this new necklace yesterday! Isn’t it fabulous?” she gloats, showing off a, I have to admit, beautiful, but very large, heart necklace with sparkling studs. Stones in the color of red spell out the letter “S” in the middle.

“They are real diamonds and rubies,” Spencer brags. “My mommy paid a lot of money for this, so if anything happens to it, she’ll kill me.”

“Good,” I say under my breath.

“Okay, stop staring at my chest, you pervs,” Spencer voices, turning around and heading into her private dressing room.

“Well then,” Alexa replies, rolling her eyes.

“Just get ready,” I respond.

Soon, our hair, makeup, and outfit are ready and we walk out onto our first set to film the first scene today. As usual, everyone slowly piles in, even the stylists and designers who love to watch us.

“Spencer, where’s your necklace? I thought you’d want everyone to know about it,” I say.

“Very funny, Leila. You know the rules. I can’t wear any jewelry unless it’s approved,” she replies.

“But, aren’t you a rule breaker? You never like to follow the rules,” I jeer, just like she does to me.

“In case you haven’t noticed, honey, I make the rules around here,” Spencer responds with a smirk, ending my chance at a comeback. Damn, I wasn’t expecting that.

“All right, I need Leila, Alexa, Spencer, Melanie, Max, James, and Carter!” Mr. Conners yells.

The people who were called shuffle onto the set and we wait for the cameras to be set up, which isn’t long. They start rolling and we begin the scene.

The morning goes by quickly and swiftly with everyone focused and doing their job. I do end up sharing a laugh with some of my castmates as they accidentally mess up their lines. Now this feels like my dream, with the exception of Spencer sulking around.

Lunch is finally here and I duck into the dressing room to grab my bag before meeting up with Alexa and Max. We head out to the park to eat, the park that’s now becoming our usual place for lunch. Setting up, we unpack and hungrily begin.

“So how’s Niall doing?” Max asks first, concerned about his friend.

“Pretty good, he’s been busy setting up for the wedding and it’s crazy with all of his relatives coming in,” I answer, remembering our conversation from last night.

“I’m proud of Greg. I’ve only met him once, but he seemed like a shy person, so I’m happy that he’s found someone now,” Max responds.

“You’ve met Greg?” I question, a bit surprised.

“Yeah, Niall brought his whole family over a few years ago to see what life was like over here. His mom’s a real sweetheart,” Max replies.

“Aw,” I say, smiling. “I’m going to tell Niall you said that.”

“They know that already,” Max answers, chuckling.

“Whatever,” I state, rolling my eyes.

“So, what are your plans for this weekend? Considering Niall’s not going to be here,” Alexa asks.

“I’m not sure, exactly,” I reply, thinking about that.

“Well, we could always do something, I’m free,” Alexa adds.

“Okay,” I respond, smiling at her.

Finishing our food, we pack up and head back to the studio, singing random songs at the top of our lungs. We quiet down as we enter the studio again, still giggling and laughing.

“I know she took it!” the voice of Spencer shouts as we are held up by her, Mr. Conners, and a security guard. Spencer’s finger is pointed at me, same goes for her eyes.

“Okay, have you officially lost it?” I ask, giggling a bit as my eyebrows furrow together.

“You stole it!” she shrieks again.

“Hold up, hold up,” Mr. Conners interjects.

“Stole what?” I question, very confused now.

“Spencer thinks you stole her necklace,” Mr. Conners explains.

“No, I know she stole it! She’s been thirsty for attention lately, and I know she’ll do anything to get it!” Spencer jeers.

“I didn’t steal it! I swear!” I declare, holding up my arms.

“Alexa, Max, I think it would be best if you go get ready,” Mr. Conners nods. They follow his instructions and leave my side.

“If you didn’t steal it, then where is it? We searched the entire dressing room during lunch and we couldn’t find it,” Spencer delivers.

“Well, I don’t know! I swear I didn’t take it!” I yell, standing my ground.

“Leila, the only thing we haven’t searched that was in the dressing room is your bag. Would you mind if we—”

“Go right ahead, it’s not in there,” I sulk, sliding my bag down my arm and handing it to the security guard. Spencer looks at me with a smirk and I roll my eyes. She’s on something, I can tell.

“Well, well, well, Spencer, is this it?” Mr. Conners asks, pulling out the silver necklace that Spencer was showing off this morning.

“That’s the one,” she sneers.

“What?” I exclaim. This can’t be happening.

“Spencer, go to the dressing room,” Mr. Conners directs. She smiles at me and skips off with her necklace.

“Mr. Conners, I swear I didn’t take—”

“Leila, I’m sorry, but the facts are in plain sight. For your punishment, you are not allowed to leave the set for lunch or anything except to go home after the day is done. We are going to be watching you to make sure nothing like this happens again. I trust you, so this punishment is only going to last for the next two weeks,” Mr. Conners says.

“If you trust me, then why are you doing this?” I ask.

“This is a bit too serious, I have to do something. I can’t just let this go. I’m sorry,” Mr. Conners apologizes. “Now, you better hurry, you don’t have much time to get ready, sorry about that.”

Angrily, I stomp off to the girls’ dressing room. I’m ready to scream at Spencer and punch her square in the jaw. She deserves it.

I enter in and everyone else is already almost ready, staring at me as I quickly run around to do what I need to do. Spencer grins at me smugly before exiting the dressing room, making it very clear she set this whole thing up. No matter what happens, she won’t bring me down. This little infracture may have hurt my reputation, but I will gain it back once they know the truth.

The rest of the day goes on and it seems like the entire building heard about it. Even people who are on a different TV show keep giving me looks as we finish up for the day. Alexa and Max want to know what happened, but I don’t have time to explain it to them until we’re done.

“Spencer plotted this whole thing,” I begin to Max and Alexa after we’ve been released. “She purposely slipped it into my bag before lunch so she could see me get in trouble.”

“But why?” Alexa asks, getting a drink from her water bottle.

“I don’t know, she just wants power over me,” I answer.

“Is this still about Niall?” Max questions.

“Probably, I don’t know why else she would hate me. I wouldn’t intentionally steal that necklace. I mean, yeah it’s pretty and all, but first, ‘S’ isn’t in my name, and second, I have no use for it.”

“I believe you. I know you wouldn’t do anything like that,” Alexa says, giving me a hug.

“Thank you,” I reply. “Oh, and I forgot. My punishment is that I’m not allowed to leave the building except for when we’re going home, so I can’t go to lunch with you guys anymore unless you want to eat here.”

“Are you serious?” Max complains.

“Yeah, Mr. Conners said so,” I respond. “Sorry, guys.”

“It’s alright, you can’t really do anything about it now,” Alexa adds.

“Well, I’m going to head out, bye, guys!” Max says, and waves goodbye as he exits the studio.

“Bye, Max!” Alexa and I chime together, waving back at him.

“This is so stupid,” I breathe as we approach the doors.

“I know, I can’t believe this,” Alexa agrees.

“Leila, wait!” somebody yells, and we turn around to see Mr. Conners running towards us.

“What now?” I groan.

“Your punishment? You can’t leave until security says it’s okay,” Mr. Conners explains.

“What?” I ask, confused.

Mr. Conners snaps his fingers and a girl security guard comes over, instantly pulling out her wand.

“Up against the wall,” she demands, pushing me towards the wall.

“Oh, my God,” I whine, doing as she tells me. Her wand rakes against my body, but no sound comes out of it.

“You’re clear,” she says, putting away her wand and walking in the other direction.

“Am I free now?” I ask Mr. Conners, almost glaring at him.

“Yes, you are. Goodnight,” he adds, hoping to lighten the mood.

“Night,” Alexa replies. I stay silent and instead push open the doors with so much force they’re almost flying.

“Calm down, Leila, it’s okay. At least you’re not going to jail,” she suggests.

“What happens if next time she does something like that again and I do end up in jail?! This is so fucking stupid! I shouldn’t have to go through all of this!” I yell out in the dark.

Alexa doesn’t try to say anything as we pile in her car and drive to my apartment. The radio is our only source of sound in her quiet car, making up for our lack of communication. That is totally fine with me, I don’t even want to talk to anybody right now.

She drops me off and I do say goodbye to her, since I don’t want to necessarily take out my anger on her. I furiously walk inside the building and up to my floor, entering in my apartment to see Madison cooking like usual.

“Hey, girl, how was your day?” she asks me as I throw my stuff in my room.

“Not great,” I complain.

“Uh, oh, what happened?” Madison questions as she prepares our plates.

“Spencer, again. She blamed me for stealing her necklace today when she was the one who threw it into my bag to tear me down. I swear she’s still jealous about Niall and I,” I explain.

“Oh, my God, that’s horrible!” she delivers, setting my plate of food in front of me on the counter.

“Yeah, and now for my punishment, I’m not allowed to go out for lunch and I have security on me to make sure I don’t do anything like that again,” I angrily say as I dig into her dinner.

“Yikes, that sucks,” she agrees, eating too.

“I just hate that bitch so much, like she thinks she can get away with everything,” I vent. “I mean, yeah she kind of does, but I’m going to put a stop to that. She’s not going to be walking all over me anymore.”

“How are you going to do that?”

“I don’t know,” I answer flatly, and finish my dinner.

I decide to chill in my bedroom for a while, going on social media as I actually have time to now. The minute I log into Twitter, I know something’s bad.

Of course, Spencer tweeted about me, and it wasn’t something nice.

Guess what Leila did to me today? She stole my $700 necklace my mom gave me! That bitch needs to learn she can’t get everything she wants!

Excuse me? Since when do I ever think I’ll get everything I want? I’m not rich and I know that won’t happen unless there’s hard work and effort behind the reward. So, I decide to challenge her. I’m not going down without a fight.

@OfficialSpence Say what you want, but we both know you’re delusional. Pick up your balls and get on with life instead of complaining about me day after day

And…”Tweet”.

@leikelamichelle

Sounds good to me - other fanfic ideas are just as good as sequels! I'm certainly not trying to pressure you into writing a sequel, I was just curious as to whether you, at this point in time, planned on it :).

I do look forward to your new Niall (or Ashton or otherwise) story ideas ^_^
