Chapter 17: Don't Go

Leila's P.O.V.

Monday morning comes and just like last night, I’m afraid to go to the studio. But if I stay here and not go, Mr. Conners and everyone will be pissed. I take a deep breath and gather up my courage to roll out of bed and begin my morning process. I shower, clean up, and attempt to make myself look acceptable.

Pouring myself a cup of coffee, I eat a small breakfast, my stomach uneasy with the thought of what could happen. On my walk to the studio, I try to tell myself that nothing’s going to happen, that I’m just overthinking it. I’m worrying about nothing.

But as I step into the studio and see Spencer in the meeting room, my nerves get on edge and I want to throw myself at her and claw at her stupid little face. I ball my hands into fists to keep myself sane. Luckily, Alexa’s also here so I sit next to her.

“So how was your weekend?” Alexa asks, smiling at me. When I don’t return it, as always she can tell something’s wrong.

“What happened?” she questions again, looking concerned now. I shake my head because there’s no way I’m telling her right now when our entire cast is almost in the room.

“Leila, why so down? Is something bugging you?” Spencer asks in her sly voice, obvious she’s acting. I glare at her and she retreats.

“Don’t look at me like that. You’ve won, remember?” Spencer says, turning back around to talk to another guy.

Wait, I’ve won? Does this mean she’s not going to hurt me anymore? I let out a few breaths and it feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I look at Alexa with more of a smile on my face, but her expression tells me something else. Before I can ask, Mr. Conners enters the room and we begin.

For the rest of the day, I had nothing to worry about. At lunch, I told Alexa and Max about my weekend, making sure to use every detail possible. I made sure to tell them about Spencer vomiting, my video chat with Cameron, and the cute, romantic things Niall did to help cheer me up. There was a lot that happened this weekend, and it almost took the entire lunch break to tell them.

Spencer didn’t try anything on me for the rest of the day or even the next 2 days. Thursday is finally here and that means Niall’s coming back to watch us. As I enter the studio in the morning, I see Niall on the phone and he looks deep in the conversation. I try and eavesdrop a little bit, even though I know it’s wrong and he’s probably going to tell me later, but I can’t help it.

“Can I please stay here for the whole summer?” he asks. My spirits rise as I figure out that he probably only wants to stay here for me.

“Why?” he questions. Uh, oh.

“Well then, afterwards can I come back here?” he begs. After what?

“Psst! Leila! Come on, you’ve got to get ready!” Alexa whispers to me. I let her lead me into the dressing room to prepare for shooting today.

As I get ready, I try to think of who Niall was speaking with and why they won’t let him stay the whole summer. It’s obvious that it’s probably his family, but I’m not too sure. It could be his band and his management for all I know. But I’m pretty sure the reason why he wants to stay here is because of me. The only thing I’m not positive on is what he has to leave for. My thoughts are interrupted as Spencer approaches me. Oh joy.

“Leila, did you know Niall’s leaving?” she asks me in her know-it-all voice.

“Leaving? For what?” I respond. Well, if she has the answers, I would love to know now after hearing his phone conversation.

“Back to Ireland. He never stays here for too long,” she informs. “You might want to say something about it, otherwise he’ll leave without saying goodbye.”

I scowl at her as she giggles and finishes getting ready. Should I even believe her about this?

We head out onto the set and begin working. I don’t see Niall anywhere, and when it’s time for our lunch break, he’s nowhere to be found. Alexa, Max, and I leave to go get lunch without him, seeing as he’s not showing up. Panic starts to set in and I have the unthinkable thought that he’s gone; he left to go back to Ireland already. Alexa and Max assure me that there’s nothing to worry about. He wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye to me, knowing how much he cares about me. Their words make me feel a little better, but there’s still that tiny thought juggling my nerves.

As we enter back in the studio, I see him coming out of his uncle’s office. A wave of relief floods through me as I run and jump into Niall’s open arms. He releases me and I blurt out the question that I need the answer to.

“Are you really leaving?”

His face falls from smiling and he hesitates on giving me the answer, but Alexa calls me into the dressing room. I’m already running late, so I rush past Niall to get ready.

Questions and thoughts pop up from everywhere as our stylists quickly fix me up. Why didn’t he tell me? Why did he hesitate? Is he hiding something else from me? Is Spencer right? Woah, okay, slow down. That last question would never be true. Would it?

We finish up and walk to the sets, starting the second half of today. Niall’s actually standing there in his usual spot this time, but it’s hard for me to look at him when my mind is totally unfocused on the show. I get it together and get through the rest of this day, and as I’m packing up my stuff, Niall approaches me.

“Hey,” he greets.

“Hey,” I reply back, not looking at him in the eyes.

“Look, I’m sorry for whatever happened before. I was going to tell you once I got it all sorted out, but it seems like you’ve heard,” he explains.

“Got what all sorted out?” I ask, my eyes glued to my stuff as I’m putting them away.

“I usually only stay here for a few weeks at a time, but I want to stay here for the whole summer so I can be with you,” Niall begins. My heart races as I realize I was right about that part, but I nod so that he can continue.

“My uncle said yes and my mom also said yes, but,” he stops.

“But?” I question.

“My brother’s getting married,” he adds.

“That’s great!” I congratulate, looking up at him.

“And that means I need to go back home for the wedding,” he finishes. There’s the bad news.

My face falls and I focus on gathering the rest of my stuff, but he grabs my arms and stands me up, making sure I look at him in the eyes.

“I’m only going to be gone for a few days. I’m leaving on Tuesday next week and I’ll be back hopefully on Sunday or Monday after that,” Nall explains.

“Okay,” I breathe, smiling a little bit. “I thought you were going to say you weren’t coming back at all!”

“Nah, I wouldn’t do that to you. So, we’re going to make the best of it before I leave. Deal?”

“Deal,” I agree, closing the gap between us with a kiss.

@leikelamichelle

Sounds good to me - other fanfic ideas are just as good as sequels! I'm certainly not trying to pressure you into writing a sequel, I was just curious as to whether you, at this point in time, planned on it :).

I do look forward to your new Niall (or Ashton or otherwise) story ideas ^_^
