The Past

Tabby had picked out a range of cute girl outfits. She was super excited! She came from a really wealthy family, and wanted to take me shopping as an apology for everything. I knew that it was what she wanted, so I kindly accepted the offer, knowing too well that she would do it whether I joined her or not. She had picked out a cot and a pram, on top of all the clothes and toys. Her generosity was overwhelming but I knew that she knew we were struggling on the money front.

“I’ll pay you back for all this” I said, my guilt finally taking over me. “When I get a job and stuff”

“No way, I won’t let you!” She said. “My stupid family has more money than they know what to do with!” She said.

I laughed. “This can be like my birthday and Christmas present for like the rest of my life.” I said, trying to make me feel better about her generosity.

“Yeah, right Lucy Shaw!”

In the car ride home, Tabby was playing our song, and we were both screaming the lyrics. As we drove into my street something caught my eye.

Fairy lights brightened the pathway that led to our front door. I looked over at Tabby in surprise but she just smiled at me.

“Have fun tonight” she winked at me before dropping me off and driving off.

Confused I walked up the pathway and opened the front door. Were Tabby and Harry up to something? The lights were kind of eerie.

“Harry?” I called out as I peered through the door.

Music was playing through the speakers. I dropped the multiple shopping bags to the ground. There was Harry. On one knee. Holding a box towards me.

“Lucy. I love you so much. I couldn’t think of anyone I would want to spend the rest of my life with more then you.. I...”

I cut him off by pushing my lips to his. “Yes!” I repeated between kissed. “Yes, I will marry you!”
He rolled me onto the couch and kissed me more passionately.

My life had gone from a nightmare to a fairytale in just a couple of weeks time. Everything was finally perfect.
