I closed my eyes and let the tears swell over preparing myself for what was going to happen next. I felt the warm swelling of the pulsing bruise that was forming on my face. I did the same thing my mind was trained to do many times before. I shut myself out. Suddenly everything went black once again.

I heard the clang of furniture, but refused to let myself return to the situation, terrified of what may have caused the commotion of sounds. Another slice of pain was felt, and I was knocked out of my daze state. I looked up at Harry’s face. Tears threatening to stream over as he looked at me. My eyes widened in fright as I saw the gun held to Harry’s head. I turned around trying to find something I could use to help Harry. Sobs threatened to escape my lips as I worked quietly, attempting to stay unseen. I heard shots fired behind me and I turned around a scream creeping up my throat and exiting my lips. I didn’t want to look because I knew that I would not be able to stand the site of my true love, hurt, or even worse, dead, on the ground in front of me. I finally let my eyes look knowing that I would be the next target of then man, but I suddenly didn’t care. If he had taken Harry, I wanted to be gone too. I couldn’t live in a world that Harry wasn’t in. The tears were streaming down my face as I prepared myself to front the pain. That’s when I saw it. Harry, standing, and the man that had intruded lay in a pool of his own blood on the ground. I broke into heavy sobs and ran over to Harry. I was overwhelmed with relief. He looked pale and was completely out of it. I felt sick looking at the red blood spilling out of the man.

I still couldn’t understand how Harry had managed this. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to either.

“How?” I cried into Harry’s chest, repeating the question over and over again.
