You & I **ON HOLD**

Is it too Much to Ask for Something Great?

My phone rang loudly. I groaned and picked it up, interrupted from a deep sleep. 'Hello?' I mumbled sleepily.
'Teagan. It's Harry.' His familiar voice filled my ears. 'Listen, would you mind meeting me in the cafe just by Niall's house in 15 minutes?'
'Harry, what time is it?' I moaned.
'11.' I gasped and jumped out of bed.
'Yeah, sure, I'll be there in 15. Bye!'
'Bye.' I ran a finger through my hair stressfully and threw my phone on the bed. It was so much later than I thought, and my alarm was meant to go off for 7. I had the quickest shower I'd ever had in my life and got dressed, and heard the creak of a floorboard as I pulled on my hoodie. 'Morning, Niall,' I called automatically. He poked his head through the door of my new room. 'Hi,' he grinned.
'Did you mess with my alarm?' I demanded.
'I might have. You looked tired, so I stopped it.'
'Niall! I've had too much sleep! And I'm late, I have to go to somewhere.' I wrenched a brush through my hair quickly.
'Where?'
'Harry wanted me to meet him at a cafe. No idea.' I grabbed my phone and marched out of the room.
'Aren't you going to eat anything?' Niall called from upstairs.
'I'll eat something there!' I shouted back, running out of the door.

I reached the cafe a little late. Harry was already inside. 'I'm - sorry,' I panted.
'Don't worry.'
'So...' I tailed off awkwardly as I sat down beside him.
'Teagan, about Christmas Eve.' I felt my cheeks redden uncomfortably, and I tried not to look into his eye. 'When I... kissed you...' He was looking quite awkward, too. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.
'It was a mistake,' I said quickly, not daring to look into his green eyes.
'Yeah, but... I... Would you - '
'Anything to drink?' A waiter walked up to our table.
'A coffee, please,' Harry said.
'Same,' I replied. The waiter walked away, leaving us. I stared at the table, knowing that Harry was looking at me. 'Teagan, I like you. A lot.' I felt my face go hotter still, and I avoided his gaze.
'Harry, I don't think - '
'Your coffees.'
'Thank you,' I nodded at the waiter. I was suddenly aware of how quiet it was.
'Harry, honestly, I'm sorry, but it would be better if we were just friends,' I said truthfully. He softened his stare. 'Why?'
'Well, I just moved here, and I don't really want anything yet. I am sorry.' I managed to look up at him. His eyes locked on mine again, the way they did when he looked like he wanted something. 'Everyone says that to me. It makes me feel like I've done something wrong. What have I done wrong?' His voice was cracking slightly. I feared he was going to start crying.
'You haven't done anything! Harry, I promise, it's just that i don't want anything right now! I would still love you as a friend!' I felt my voice crack slightly. I feared I was going to start crying. I drank some coffee as my throat had gone all dry. 'Harry?' He had gone quiet.
'Are you one of those who think I'm a womaniser?'
'No! Harry, I'm not! I know the truth, Harry. You're as nice as the others in the band!' I felt tears stinging the back of my eyes. 'Right, I'm leaving.' He got up, put some money on the table and left. I followed him out. 'Harry! Harry!' He didn't look at me as he sped off towards his house. I sighed, wiping my eyes on my sleeve. I ran back to Niall's house.
'Are you OK?' He asked me as I sped in through the door.
'Yeah, I'm fine.' I felt horrible; I had just lost a friend. I shut myself in my room for a while, listening to music.
'Teagan, you gonna make lunch or what?' Niall yelled from downstairs. I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. 'What do you want?' I called.
'Anything!'
'Anything as in what?'
'Pasta.' I smiled to myself weakly. Niall could cheer you up any day.
I texted Harry a quick 'sorry' before putting the plates of pasta on the dining room table. We ate silently. 'Its really nice,' Niall smiled.
'Thanks,' I replied. Suddenly I felt a vibration from my pocket. I got out my phone.

From: Harry
Don't worry. Friends.

Well, I thought. At least he has written back. I just wished I could make things right without having envy thing between us.
